NCAA Senior Rankings – Class of 2010
Every year the senior class features a number of late bloomers and NBA ready players. This year’s group has a few intriguing talents who have blossomed into stars in their final college seasons. The class should produce somewhere between 4-8 senior first rounders.
In our view, the top spot comes down to a battle between Stanley Robinson and Damion James. Right now more scouts are higher on James. He’s having the better season, shows more consistency and is an even better athlete. But we’re taking Robinson first based on his potential as a defensive
stopper and the improvement in his game and remaining upside.
1. Stanley Robinson 6-8 220 SF UConn Sr.
Robinson is a incredibly explosive athlete in his own right and has phenomenal length as well. He’s added consistency in his senior season, although scouts still complain about this area of his game.
2. Damion James 6-7 227 SF Texas Sr.
James has entered the National POY race by taking over as Texas first option and inspirational leader. The Longhorn’s strong season also enhances his chances. James is absolutely freaky athlete as he proved last year in the combine with one of the fastest sprint times of anyone, including guards.
3. Dexter Pittman 6-10 290 C Texas Sr.
Scouts love Pittman’s upside and he has shown excellent improvement since arriving in Austin as a 400 lb freshman. But he’s still got a ways to go and his inability to stay on the court (20 mpg) due to conditioning is a concern.
4. Michael Washington 6-10 239 PF Arkansas Sr.
Michael Washington has had an inconsistent season but shows the ability to dominate with his huge frame and soft touch. Some players behind him have a more secure draft outlook but we really like Washington’s upside.
5. Dwayne Collins 6-8 241 PF Miami Sr.
Miami bigman Dwayne Collins lacks polish but has an impressive combination of length (7-4.5 wingspan) and explosiveness. He’s a borderline first rounder possessing a lot of upside for a senior.
6. Trevor Booker 6-7 245 PF Clemson Sr.
Another undersized power forward with big athleticism is Trevor Booker. The Clemson senior has a passion for the game and if he were 6-9 instead of 6-7 he would be a lottery pick. He’ll have a chance to sneak into the first round with a strong finish to the season.
7. Jerome Jordan 7-0 245 C Tulsa Sr.
Tulsa’s Jerome Jordan has an intriguing combination of size (7-1 with a 7-6 wingspan) and touch on his shot. He’s a decent athlete who shows some mobility and progression. So what’s keeping him from being a lottery pick? He’s a low motor guy who lacks a great feel for the game.
8. Quincy Pondexter 6-7 210 SF Washington Sr.
Washington players seem to become unshackled in their senior years and Quincy Pondexter has finally begun to live up to the potential he showed in his freshman season. Pondexter lacks a great first step and the ability to create off the dribble but has become adept at knocking down 18 foot jumpshots. He’s considered a borderline first rounder with such an impressive senior year.
9. Jarvis Varnado 6-9 210 PF Mississippi St. Sr.
Jarvis Varnado might lack strength, but he makes up for it with toughness and length. He’s just 6-9 but has a good chance to be a factor as a shot blocker at the NBA level regardless. It’s questionable how much weight he can add, which limits his potential.
10. Da’Sean Butler 6-7 205 SF West Virginia Sr.
While West Virginia’s DeSean Butler doesn’t wow you with his athleticism, he does have a polished offensive game, showing the ability top be a go to scorer at the college level. His shooting ability and feel for the game should make him a successful pro.

11. Art Parakhowski 6-11 260 C Radford Sr. — One of the nation’s most efficient scorers with polished post skills.
12. Jerome Dyson 6-3 185 SG Connecticut Sr. — A dynamic athlete with outside shooting question marks.
13. Luke Harangody 6-7 246 SF/PF Notre Dame Sr. — Could sneak into late first as scouts rave about his heart and toughness.
14. Magnum Rolle 6-10 220 SF/PF Louisiana Tech Sr. — A project who has begun to live up to his considerable ability.
15. Sherron Collins 5-11 215 PG Kansas Sr. — Stocky build and lack of size limits his stock but a title run would certainly boost it.
16. Grievis Vasquez 6-6 200 PG Maryland Sr. — Has leveled his play after a rough first month of the season
17. Marquis Gilstrap 6-7 220 SF Iowa St. Sr. — Juco transfer with an intriguing package of athleticism and skills.
18. Landon Milbourne 6-7 195 SF Maryland Sr. — Athlete who has made excellent progression since his freshman season.
19. Deon Thompson 6-8 245 PF UNC Sr. — Smooth offensive player with long arms and solid strength but lacks toughness.
20. Lazar Hayward 6-6 225 SF Marquette Sr. — Diverse offense game and NBA ready.

i think he deserves the top spot. having an overall better season than robinson imo, also he has shown a more versatile game this year. not saying he didnt last year but he seems to have more confidencce opposed to robinson who has to rely on his athleticism a majority of the time

Yeah uhh Robinson’s
Yeah uhh Robinson’s defensive versatility is what makes him better then Damion James. Neither is going to be a star at the NBA level but I feel Robinson can blend in with a team on the defensive end better. Still questions about his effort and consistency. But you can make the case for either player because James has a much better offensive game as of right now.
