Fox 13 Sports in Memphis reported on thursday night that 39 year-old former 4 Time All-Star Penny Hardaway is mulling a return to the NBA…Hardaway said he has contacted Heat President Pat Riley about playing for the Heat..Hardaway says,he knows he’s not the same player he use to be..But his shooting, experience & ability to play 3 positions will be just what they need..Hardaday said he think he could give the team a good 15 to 20 minutes a night..Penny last played for the Heat in the 2007 season..He said he can understand where Jordan & Favre were going from, when they came out of retirement..When you think you still have something left in the tank…Its hard to let it go….

That really is crazy. Miami would truly be like a circus this year. Can he honestly believe he is still an NBA caliber player?

Penny keeps himself in great shape…..
.I played a pickup game with him & some former Memphis Tigers last summer ….
His outside is better now then it was when he was 1 of the best guards in NBA..
But he’s lost alot of quickness and cant make cuts like he use to…
He was released by the Heat in 2007 becuz they wanted to sign Luke Jackson….
That should proved that his playing career was over after that..Getting cut for Luke Jackson?..lol…
He should look into coaching, young kids really look up to him..Plus he relates well to them..

Well he works out and plays alot of pickup games with Memphis Tigers players so he should still be in shape. I don’t know if he is still good enough to be a NBA player though. I don’t think it would be a horrible move for the Heat. At the very least they would get another veteran to fill out there roster.

He will not play close to 15 minutes. He hasnt played in a few years. I’d love to see him come back for playoff veteran experience, but there is now way he plays over 1000 minutes in the reg. season/

penny…. no offence, but stay retired…. i hate when old guys that used to be sweet think they can make a difference for a team like when scottie pippen wanted to play for the lakers when he was like 40 sumthin, WTF…. scottie u look like shi+, and u would play like it too if u came back to the nba… if penny came back it would probably be a spot on the janitor all star squad.

I think nowadays with his age, I think he would be a better coach than a player. I hear that Pat Riley will not step down and coach this allstar studded team even though I think he should. Eric Spoelstra is not the right coach for them, but Penny Hardaway might be.

What could signing Penny to a minimum contract hurt? Most of the scrubs sitting on the bench that are signed to a minimum aren’t going to play a lick anyway so it wouldn’t hurt to sign Penny. It’s a no lose situation. If he doesn’t produce, he can ride the bench and be a player-coach or something like that.

if he makes the team, at this rate the team will be older than the Celtics.

Bring Penny for a player coach. Spolstra is way to young to handle 3 superstars…they may listen to Penny in practice with the other vets they have
