By all accounts that I’ve heard and read, Stan Van Gundy is fully committed to re-signing Reggie Jackson(possibly as soon as today – heard this is the first day their meeting to discuss a contract). So therefore, if/when Reggie is re-signed, what do we do with Brandon Jennings? One team I know that could use a starting point guard is Dallas, who just lost Rondo to Sacramento. Does this sound logical? I’m not exactly sure of the exact pieces that would be involved but it makes pretty good sense to me. What do you think?

Was thinking the same thing yesterday. It’s just hard to figure out what Dallas would need to trade for him. Jennings is known as a ball hog but he was having a good year last year and was passing the ball at a good rate. Maybe Devin Harris and a somewhat protected first for Jennings? It’s really hard to gauge his value right now. Especially as Dallas has very little assets.

The good news for the Mavs is that since Jennings got hurt and like dmo21 said, Jackson is expected to sign back with Pistons, his trade value isn’t as high as it should be.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the trade was as simple as Felton, Powell, and a pick for Jennings. Achilles tendon injuries are tough to come back from, and his skinny legs/knees concern me if I am looking at him long-term…but in the Mavs case, that is definitely a risk I am willing to take considering Jordan has absolutely NO post game.  he needs a PG that is flashly/can throw him alley-oops…we know Brandon can do that since highschool!

Some cheaper point guards they could trade for are Collison or Calderon. Collison probably wants out of Sac Town (I don’t blame him) and could possibly be had for something like Felton and a second rounder? He might not be a great fit with the Mavs as he’s not the best ball handler/passer, which they know need with Rondo and Ellis gone, but he’d be a definite upgrade. Calderon doesn’t seem to fit well with NY and could be traded by them to get rid of his contract. I’m a big Calderon fan and think he’d be a great match with the Mavs (if he stays healthy) as he can run a good offense and pick and roll (him with Amir in Toronto were great) plus he is a deadly 3 point shooter. In free agency, they could possibly take a flyer on Lin for the right price.

I feel like Detrt try to keep them both to see how it works out at 1st, but after that if it doesn’t I can see them trading Jennings. Its funny their team was pretty good after the release of j.smoove then b.Jennings got hurt and they traded for Jackson to keep their momentum going but he didn’t work as well with Drummond& monroe. Now monroe is gone & Jennings one of the key pieces to their brief success  last year might be traded, how the nba turns.

Also its funny Jennings game would have helped us(mavs) out a lot last year, he compliments Ellis better than rondo. Now we have a team this year that would give rondo full ball handling responsibility, lol the nba. That life

At least Jennings and Matthews can rehab their busted Achilles together, share photos.

Don’t think the risk with Jennings is worth a first rounder, no matter how much it’s protected. As a Pistons fan, would love to get one for him though.
