Just wondering if anybody in the Top 10 would be tempted to trade their pick if they could clear a bad contract if a team like Philadelphia who is seriously under the cap were willing to swallow the last few years of a terrible deal.

Here are the Teams slotted to Draft in the Top 10 as of today,

    1. Bucks – OJ Mayo, Ersan Ilyasova and Larry Sanders

    3. Orlando – Aaron Affalo?

    4. Boston – Gerald Wallace, Brandon Bass and Jeff Green?

    5. Utah – Marvin Williams and Richard Jefferson?

    6. Lakers – Steve Nash? Kobe Bryant???

    7. Kings – Jason Thompson, Chuck Hayes or John Salmons, maybe Rudy Gay?

    8. Pistons – Brandon Knight or Josh Smith?

    9. Cavs – Varejoe?

this is probably a crazy idea, I don’t think most teams would look to give away a top 10 pick unless they were gearing up to chase a free agent or two(Lakers or Celtics)

If the Lakers knew they could use the Cap space saved by trading Steve Nash to sign Melo in 2014 and Love in 2015 would they give up the draft rights to Noah Vonleh or Marcus Smart???

Why on Gods earth would the Lakers trade Kobe to the 76ers?? Also how would the Sixers put Kobe in a position to win by 2016? He would have no desire to play..

The only team terrible enough to be traded that way could be Josh Smith’s, but the Pistons are going to want something else in return that nobody is willing to give them.

PS: Brandon Knight plays for Milwaukee.

The only two teams I could see doing it though are Detroit if Dumars got fired and the new GM wanted to dump Josh Smith, and Sacramento if they wanted to dump Landry, Thompson, and/or Terry. Limiting most contracts to a 4 year max is looking like a pretty smart move on the part of the NBA.

The other two teams I’m interested in are OKC (Perkins) and the Bulls (Boozer). Neither have top 10 picks, but they do have some ammunition. Also maybe Denver or Toronto.

I don’t think that having the Sixers taking away a bad contract or two from any of those teams is enough to warrant giving the Sixers one of their top 10 picks as well.   Now, iF the Sixers were allowed to throw in their Pelicans pick also,  then I can see maybe Boston or Utah giving the Sixers Jeff Green or Richard Jefferson’s bad contract,  respectively,  taking the Sixers 11th pick, and giving them the 4th or 5th pick also.  But, speaking as a Sixers fan, this is just a dream that I’m hoping would come true,  I suppose.

Enough of these sixers draft scenarios.  My god.  We must have gone over every single hypothetical scenario by now.

    Who will the sixers draft?

    Should the sixers trade down?

What other picks can the sixers get?

Which picks will the sixers trade for future picks?

Can the sixers fill out their entire roster with picks solely from the 2014 draft?

    Stop. Please.

In short, no… I don’t see anybody in the lottery trading their lottery pick…. maybe the Pistons because they do stupid things like that but I imagine this year everybody will hold onto them.  I also feel all the "bad talk" about this draft is just posturing.  Ainge hoping to scare someone into dumping a pick and some GMS are stupid enough it just might actually work.

On the other side of that coin does anybody think the 76ers will be able to move any of their 2nd rounders?  I know they are going to try to package them to move up but I just have this feeling that nobody will play ball and they are going to get stuck with them.  They hoarded them, now deal with it type situation.  I know it would be amazing to see 7 rookies on the 76ers roster this year lol.

I think some of the other tanking franchises could take them. You know, during workouts GMs usually fell in love with some prospects that are expected to fall to the 2nd round. Philly will probably be able to move one or two for future 2nd round picks. I don’t see anybody trading down for 2nd rounders because there aren’t any big free agents this summer.

Both Richard Jefferson and Marvin Williams are on expiring deals. Jazz actually don’t have any bad contracts going into the offseason.

Most likely team that would go for something like that has to be the Lakers. but by no means does it involve black mamba. It’d be something more like Nash and LAs 1st rd pick to Sixers for our Pelicans pick and maybe even one of our 2nd rounders..Gives Phila a solid vet to help bring along MCW and not to mention another top 5 pick. Then at the same time it frees up 10mil for the Lakers to actually spend in FA and add someone that can actually help Kobe before he retires instead of drafting some young bull early.

Just while were talking these two teams..anyone think any way sixers could work thad young into a deal with lakers and maybe a second round pick or two and get nash and the lakers first? So then we would hve legit 3 potentil top 10 picks this year, lakers get thad young and still dump nash? only thing is i think thad is owed 8mil himself

nash is only gauranteed 5 mil next season if the lakers cut him and i have zero doubt that is what they will do. I wouldnt give up a top 5-8 draft pick to save 5 million dollars.

his contract is for about 10 mil if they dont cut him. But there is a team option to release and only owe him 5. I know nash deserves tons of respect and to go out on his own terms, but if the lakers dont cut him and save that 5 mill to spend elswhere, they are really doing the team and fans a disservice. Nash is not worth 10 mill even at full strength and playing 82 games at this point.

Been looking around and apparently I’m wrong. Could’ve sworn I read somewhere the final year of the deal was only partially guaranteed if they released him. It does say their is a provision in the cba that the lakers could stretch his 9.7 million out over 3 seasons meaning instead of taking the cap hit all at once of 9.7 mil, it would be 3 seasons of a 3.23 mil cap hit. But yeah, I’ve been telling people Nash’s final year was only partially guaranteed all season so I either imagined i read it or came across a bad source at some point.

The Sixers take on Smith’s contract and get Monroe in the process. I’m just not sure what else in terms of picks/players
would make this a fair deal.

    Maybe :

    Smith & Monroe

    for

    Thad and 2 seconds ?
    Just 2 seconds ?

    Thoughts ?

I can’t see Detroit trading Greg Monroe and Josh Smith. Maybe the 76ers trade the 10th pick for either Greg Monroe or Josh Smith, not both.

Why trade our 10th pick for Smith when he would absolutely not resign with us and even if he did by the time we are ready to win he will be past his prime..monroe on the other hand..that could work
