 Again lillard is the best available but I don’t like the fit with Irving. At the time, the cavs needed a wing who could defend and shoot from outside. Although I probably would have leaned more toward mkg at the time, looking back through revision I would have to go with Barnes now.

I know they have Kyrie but he’s too good to pass up at this point. Harrison Barnes was my Mock Draft choice and would be an excellent fit, but Lillard won ROY and is a two-time all-star. That’s just too much value to pass up.

Considering the year before this the Cavs took Kyrie I don’t see them taking Lillard.  He’s a much better player than Barnes but there’s just no fit.  Also at the time some teams were afraid to take a player from a small school like Weber State.

I was shocked when the Cavs passed on Barnes to take Dion Waiters.  Barnes will never be a star but he’s a really good player.  Dion Waiters was a complete disaster in Cleveland.

Yeah, if we are doing a redraft based on what we know now, I would definitely take Draymond over Barnes here. Warriors aren’t paying Barnes $80mil next year like they just did with Green.

Also, Green doesn’t look as good in a vacuum as Barnes, he just so happens to be in the perfect situation for him, I don’t think he’d thrive in Cleveland especially given the presence of Thompson already.

 I really think you’re selling Draymond Green short. He was the second best player on a championship team. The small ball line-ups surely helped boost Draymond’s stock but I do think he brings the same benefits to any team that he’s on.

Don’t get me wrong.  I see the potentinal dominace of Drummond, the proverbial "Ray Allen" in Beal, and the game-impacting defensive potential in Barnes/Green but you people are insane.  And maybe I am misunderstaning this series of posts a bit, given teams’ current rosters.  But I think the original post based it off of "whatever you want".

 

THAT BEING SAID

 

What Lillard has done in his 3 seasons in Portland is nothing short of remarkable.  In 3 seasons, his career averages at 20.2 PPG 6.1 APG 3.8 RPG 1.0 SPG, on 42.9% FG 36.8 3PT and 86.1% FT.

Rookie of the year, 2 straight all star games, and above all else HE HAS NOT MISSED A GAME. 82/82 GP and GS all 3 seasons.  Late game killer…I can keep going. 

Regardless of any other roster positions, I am taking Damian Lillard behind Anthony Davis in a redraft of 2012 no ifs, ands, or buts about it.  I’d play him with Kyrie, I’d play him with Wall, and I’d certainly play him with/over Kemba Walker.

 There’s no way you take Lilliard over Drummond. People forget Drummond skipped his senior year in HS and made that decision pretty late if I remember correctly….he just turned 22. Drummond will have 5 minimum All Star appearances and multiple leading rebounding seasons in years to come his ceiling isn’t even clear. Damian is a top 8 PG but he’s never going to have the impact Drummond will just because of how dominant Andre is. Andres best years will look like 19-20 pts 14-15 rebounds 2+ blocks 1 steal a game and that’s probably a modest estimation Lillard will look like 23-24 9 assists 1.5 steals 3-4 rebounds and those are probably lofty numbers.

Robin Lopez probably makes about the same overall impact as Drummond, if not more.

And Lopez was as big a factor in Portland’s turnaround as Lillard was, maybe more.
