Everyone who votes gets a +1 from me. I’ve been +1’ing everyone who has voted thus far. So, even if you want to vote just for the points. Do it.
The Pistons are now on the clock. Their roster consists of: Gary Payton and Julius Erving
The Magic are now on the clock. Their roster consists of: Walt Frazier and Kevin Garnett
So… if you all want +1’s vote!!!!

dmo21ParticipantDetroit: Jerry Lucas (good rebounder/shooter/defender. Top big man on my board. I think it will be easier to find a shot blocking center later on than a power forward that can shoot, defend, and rebound at a high rate).
Orlando: Dantley (scorer on the wing as Frazier is more of a passer and Garnett is more of a rebounder/defender).

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantFrazier was actually more of a scorer/defender at the PG spot. His passing was good but certainly wasn’t what made him a great.
Detroit – They need a center and there’s still a few good ones left on the board. Dave Cowens is the pick here, by just a notch over Robert Parish.
Orlando – With Garnett and Frazier they have some great defenders, lets go with that theme and grab another top defender who can share ball handling duties with Frazier; Dennis Johnson; 6 All-Defensive first teams, 3 All-Defensive second teams, 5 All-Star team selections and three time NBA champion (including 1 Finals MVP).

morestealsthanscoresParticipantAgree with this comment – there’s still loads of big men left (probably because that’s been important for 80%) of the nba’s history, but due to the fact there’s only been 20ish years pf volume 3 point shooting, shooters are at a premium. This is accentuated by the fact that if you dont have a top 10 all-time big man, strategically it makes sense to draft small, get a kawhi or a draymond to play the 4,and run and gun!

tyronneParticipantPistons- Dave Cowens easily. They need a centre and he is the best available.
Magic- A. Dantley; a scorer on the wing is needed. 2 of the easier picks for sure.

yukoziParticipantI agree with the above. Cowens and Dantley. I’m surprised Mullin is still on the baord though, shooting and 2 way players is parapount in this type of draft, in MO,

morestealsthanscoresParticipantEasy – #73 Dave cowens
#74 – Dave cowens…or if not available, a new name for your consideration – Dolph schayes. 12 time all nba first or second teams – no one else left has more than 4/5. And defensive deficiencies covered by the great KG.
zach – quick question – when people are just givin two names, what do you do about their second pick if that player is already off the board? Do you just ignore their second choice?

ZachAttackParticipantI either ignore it, or if there first pick is someone that is being commonly picked to go next, I add that vote in.
For Example, if you voted for Adrian Dantley and Dave Cowens and Dave Cowens is picked first, if Adrian Dantley proves to be a popular pick for the 2nd pick of that day, I will add his vote onto the second pick.
Make sense?

terrancebowerParticipantIf a player had drug history that derailed his career (David Thompson, Michael Ray Richardson, Shawn Kemp) or injuries that slowed them (Bill Walton, Penny Hardaway) or they died (Drazen Petrovic, Riggie Lewis) do we assume that we only get them for the finite amount of time that they were healthy? If I pick Walton do I only get a few good years out of him or do we assume that modern medicine/drug tests/etc would cancel these issues out? Just asking because then we get into some debates, like how good Penny Hardaway or Petrovic would have been.
Is it up to us as the voters to justify our votes if we decide to pick a player like that? Do we just have to convince the other voters of our theories?
For instance I picked David Thompson for my last vote with the idea that he would have lasted a lot longer and would have hit a higher peak, looking at his best years and assuming those years would have been extended. Should I have explained this or is it a given that he would replicate his actual career?
You may have already answered this and I might have just missed it.

ZachAttackParticipantYou as the voter pick… But when we do a vote at the end as planned with questions such as… Best Team, Worst Team, Most Athletic, Most fun to watch, things like that, then the voters will decide whether or not a pick like Bill Walton was worth it in the third round.
But for now, we are just picking based on our own criteria.
