SwatLakeCityParticipantWhat is with all of these "odd" Utah picks like Brandon Knight and Jan Vesely? I do like both Brandon Knight and Jan Vesely, but when Kanter is still available???
I don’t care if Utah will have to trade Jefferson if they select Kanter. They will do it. They need a SF, and Derrick Williams insists that he is a SF. (I actually think he is too!) If he is available they will select him. If Utah selects a PG with the 3rd pick it will be because Irving is available at 3, not because they pick Knight.
Utah cannot afford to screw this up because they traded away Deron Williams. They have the chance to really get the edge on Jersey and still succeed without D-will. They will go for BPA because of this. They will pick Irving, Kanter or Williams. All 3 of them fit well in Utah’s system, all 3 of them play hard and fill a need. They will pick on of those 3.

Scottoant93ParticipantKanter has some huge question marks, such as not playing for about 2 years, injury prone, his camp has stated he doesnt want to be in Utah(look what happened to Yi, he not exactly blowing it up right now, even though kanter will be like 20x better just saying situation is similiar) I have them taking night as you commented on saying if Kanter is available its a sure thing(and you might be right?) but I see them taking knight because Devin Harris lacks consistency. will start to whine when you lose, and might(hopefully not) give up on Utah as he did in NJ.

khaled_a_dParticipant“With the 3rd pick, Utah will pick BPA. ie: Irving or Williams ”
I agree with that
,Kanter? simply a lot of people don’t think he is the third available player and for many good reasons some like you obviously think he is
Kanter is simply the biggest mystery in this draft ,I have no idea if Utah think highly of him ,and can’t say that I am sure he isn’t 3rd best player in the draft
I think that the workouts will play major role in deciding where he is gonna be selected, teams are probably gonna put him against guys like Jonas,Donatus,Bismack and see what he can do0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/21/2011 - 6:56am #534360
WinterSoldierParticipantYou are exactly right, really it doesn’t matter what people say the Jazz will pick one of them. People just get excited for teams like the cavs(the most common is they get the best PG and the best C), or they try and put on us players they hope there teams don’t pick up. In the end it really won’t matter because the Jazz will end up with one of those three.

scliddiardParticipantWard: You are right on, I hope the Jazz get Kanter, I know Williams is rated higher and I like Williams but Kanter would be #1 if he’d have played last year. Those who say Kanter doesn’t like Utah or blew Utah off yesterday , don’t know the whole story. Kanter didn’t blow Utah off, he just rescheduled for June 2nd and they will have him all day. Kanter likes Utah and would even get up at 4 in the morning Turkey time to watch the Jazz and Okur.
Williams is very good and I would be happy if we ended up with Williams, I think he can play the 3, he has the quickness and speed but he will have to adjust to playing on the outside, he has played the 4 in college. He wants to play the 3 though and that is big, he will work hard to prove he can.
I’m not that high on Knight, his own coach said he doesn’t go left very well and he doesn’t finish at the rim well. Especially if there is any contact. He is skinny and I’m not sure whether he will fill out or end up like Harris (current Jazz pt) and be a skinny shoot first point.
If the Jazz do take a point guard, I hope it’s Irving, because Williams and Kanter have already been picked. I worry that that could happen, I really would like to see the Jazz get Williams or Kanter. Right now on the roster Favors, Big Al & Milsap are the only bigs and if Kanter ends up being as good as I think he will be, then we trade Milsap or Big Al and should be able to get something good from them.
With the 12th pick, there are several options that could work out, nobody at 12 is a sure thing, Jimmer, Thompson, Singleton, Harris would be good choices. If Biyombo fell that far I’d take him in a heart beat, same with Montajunas, even if we picked Kanter, talented bigs are always a valuable commodity and usefull as trade chips.

cycloParticipantVesely or Kanter to the Jazz.

bigblackNbeautifulParticipantWith last years this years and nexts years draft we will very likely have 6 lotto picks. This means that we should have at least 4 starters and 2 bench players from these drafts. That is why I am hoping we go big this a defensive wing like Singleton and then worry about our scoring wing and pg problem next year when Kabongo, Teague and Marshall are avilable at pg and wings such as barnes and Mcadoo are plentyful. NExt year is a weak big man draft so adress our center this year cause al is a pf, that can play center, and if you look at the teams that are developing such as the pacers, grizzles and even a team like okc or phi their centers are true centers and that gives them an advantage over most the league. So draft kanter please! (Only if he truly wants to play in Utah)

scliddiardParticipantbigblackNbeautiful: We probably won’t get our own first round pick next year, (not sure how protected it is), I think Minn. gets it next yr.

SwatLakeCityParticipantThat is true scliddiard, but we do have the Warriors’ pick next year. It is top 7 protected, and the Warriors will likely finish where they ended up this year. So the pick will most likely belong to Utah.

Demarcus OnealParticipantI dont understand why the Jazz need a point guard so badly, they still have Devin Harris who is a very servicable starting backcourt and why do the Jazz get Kanter when they already have Jefferson, Milisap and just traded for Favours which leaves a bit of a crowded front court to say the least.

butidonthavemoneyBecause Harris, Millsap and Jefferson are not going to be leading Utah to any championships. Draft the best player, make the proper adjustments later.

aamir543ParticipantI am probably out of it, but what do you mean by BPA?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/21/2011 - 5:24pm #534534
j1232eParticipantbest player avaliable.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/21/2011 - 5:25pm #534535

butidonthavemoneyBPA is Best Player Available
There’s always a debate among draftniks about whether teams should draft for immediate need or BPA.

scliddiardParticipantThe fact we get GS’s pick next year (#7 protected) is what makes this trade KOC made of DWill , a very good move, we should get a real good player in this yrs draft and then with Favors, Harris and GS’s next yr, (next yrs draft looks real strong), the rebuilding should be smoother and faster. It’s good enough to put a smile on your face.

TheLastWordParticipantI am an old schooler who believes you don’t take a little man top 3 unless he has shown signs of being something real special. Knight obviously hasn’t. It will be Williams, Kanter, or Jonas.
