With the first pick in the 2009 NBA Re-Draft, the Los Angeles Clippers select… Stephen Curry!

    The Results:

    Stephen Curry: 10
    Blake Griffin: 7
    James Harden: 2
And, I probably shouldn’t even count this, but it is his opinion, Johnny Flynn: 1

Thanks everyone for playing Day 1 was a huge success! Let’s keep it this big with pick #2!

    So… the Memphis Grizzlies select…

Blake Griffin with no doubt. A frontcourt Griffin-Gasol would be very exciting to watch

I’ll go with James Harden.  Pairing him with Conley would give them a great backcourt.  Knowing what we know now, Memphis desperately needs scoring and shooting.  His lack of defense doesn’t match with what Memphis likes to do but his imact on offense makes up for it.

Funny… You get the same amount of per game rebounds out of both Thabeet and Mugsy. Now that’s the definition of a bust!

I’m going with griffin here. It would be tempting to take harden and you could definitely make a compelling case for it. However, at the time the grizzlies had oj mayo, who was coming off a pretty impressive rookie year, and hadn’t aquired z-bo yet so they needed a pf. Griffin would have been a great fit with gasol and given them perhaps the best one-two frontcourt punch over the next decade.

Blake Griffin, no doubt. The Griffin-M Gasol combo is too alluring. They also have O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay, both who had good enough seasons to warrant passing on Harden.

Gotta go with the big man in Griffin. Also, if Memphis was destined to become a great defensive team, Griffin is a better fit than Harden.

I certainly understand griffin here, but a backcourt of Conley and Harden is narrowly more important to me in the west with such great guard play.

thats a mean front court though of griffin and gasol. Wow.

Still, I choose harden. Maybe hard to justify with them having mayo, but if we know what we know now, I think they find a way to make it work to get harden.

I go with Harden here. It doesn’t matter if they had O.J. Mayo at the time. Who’s better?

Blake Griffin.  He would have given them the best passing frontcourt in the league.  With the way the NBA is moving, having a pair of super skilled bigs who could handle and pass, but also were physical enough to score in the low post would give the Grizz an advantage over smaller, quicker teams.

Harden without doubt. Grizzlies already had Zach Randolph putting 21/12 a game, we were set at PF.

One Grizzlies assistant coach I knew wanted Steph Curry at the time and Hasheem DEAD BEAT.

I personally wanted Tyreke Evans.  I thought he would form a great 3 guard rotation with Conley and OJ Mayo.

I liked Steph but didn’t think he was a 2.

Whatever.  We couldn’t have signed all our guys anyway.  We traded Rudy Gay for nothing…

ANOTHER bad part about that draft was we drafted DeMarre Carroll and gave him away.  Wish we still had him.

I actually think the Griz could use Thabeet right now as a 3rd string center.  He can block shots and take up space at the very least.  He is also pretty athletic for a guy his size.  One time he absolutely destroyed the Suns.   I think expectations were too high.  Then some absolute studs fell in the draft like Curry and Harden.

Eh, I even think that I wanted Ricky Rubio.  We had Conley and OJ Mayo so we thought we had a pair of great guards.  Guess Conley is solid (still not THE guy) and we thought OJ Mayo was better than he was.

I think we could have won a title by now if we had all those guys: Conley, Mayo, Tyreke Evans, Rudy Gay, Z Bo, Marc Gasol, Tony Allen, and DeMarre Carroll.  Scorers and length everywhere with some really talented defensive guys.  Then you pick up a few 3 point snipers.
