kerrstParticipantIsiah Thomas was from Chicago and played for Indiana. I think you got the 2 Isiah Thomas’s mixed up. Otherwise Miami drafting the current (celtics) Isiah Thomas is the first reach of the draft and an absolute shocker lol!

ZachAttackParticipantYeah I realized that after I posted that I got the wrong Isaiah Thomas… By then it was too late to edit. I was hoping nobody would see it.

r377ParticipantPatrick Ewing – Defensive bigs always get drafted higher. Ewing was a good defender and shot blocker. He also had a good post game
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/e/ewingpa01.html
John Stockton – Very good shooter with excellent fg% and 3pt %, he could of averaged 20+ppg if he shot the ball more, but leading the league in assists for 9 straight years will do that to you………
Extremely, extremely durable. He played 82 games 16 out of his 19 seasons. No rest days or “flu like symptoms” like the kids of today.

r377ParticipantWhy is Patrick Ewing not getting any respect ?
For quite a few seasons it was the big 3 of the NBA – Ewing, Robinson, Hakeem. You could make an argument about any of them being the best right up until the 93-94 and 94-95 seasons where Hakeem took his game to the next level and was clearly no1. By then the big 3 was now the big 4 with Shaq.
They all won NBA championships except Ewing, which is prob why is not quite as popular. Ppl forget he beat hakeem in 84 to win the NCAA championship

zaphodParticipantSteph Curry and KD.
Are players from the past really that much better than today?
As of next season (assuming Timmy, Garnett, Kobe retire) only 1 of the top 22 will be active.
A decade ago (2006) there were 6 active
Two decades ago there were 10 active
Three decades ago there were also 10 active
I think people get a little too nostalgic with lists like these!

CU.LIONSParticipantI am sorry, but with KD and Curry, they are still too young, there is just too much basketball left to rank them properly. In the mean time I have Dirk and Stockton.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/13/2016 - 8:14pm #1054516
zaphodParticipantI disagree. KD has been in the league almost a decade and is proven. His career might not last as long as Dirk, but prime KD vs prime Dirk, I think most take prime KD, but it’s close.
And Curry vs. Stockton, you’re nearing the end of the first round… if you were a GM and this were a real draft, would you think you’d have a chance with Stockton as your best player? He’s the ultimate team guy, but if he’s your best player in this draft, I don’t think your team is going to do much. On the flip side, Curry could be the best shooter in NBA history, and could end his career with people talking about him on the same level as the all time greats.
I think you swing for the fences.
Oh, and I’m looking at this as a draft, not a list of the all time greats… if it were a list of the alltime greats, I’d vote completely differently.

ZachAttackParticipantThe good thing is that both are possible on Stockton and Curry. When you have this late of a pick it means you have one of the first second round picks. So it’s not crazy to pick a major contributor like Stockton at this point because you can get a major scorer in about 5 more picks…
