morestealsthanscoresParticipantwow, you really want Scottie Pippen as your number 1 option against all these talented guys? Suit yourselves 😉
my picks are Moses Malone and Kevin Durant – thanks 🙂

OhCanada-ParticipantThere are plenty of scorers that can be drafted as a number one option later in the draft like a George Gervin, maybe KD, Stephen Curry, or A.I.
0- Posted on: Mon, 04/11/2016 - 3:16pm #1053758

r377ParticipantMy thoughts exactly. Bigs and defensive bigs get drafted early on to build around. In this draft there will be tonnes of scorers – KD, Gervin, Dominique, Bernard King, Chris Mullin etc.
I will prob vote Ewing for tomorrow

ZachAttackParticipantAgreed… I thought the Scottie Pippen pick was unusual at first, but he’s a great defensive presence, and he’s a good team leader. So good pick guys.

Hype MachineIn that case I’ll go with Oscar Schmidt and Durant.
Schmidt was just so much better than anyone else internationally.
In todays NBA, he’d be unstoppable.

Hype MachineI hear you man.
When I was young and NBA wasn’t really an international phenomenom, outside of the US there was 3 guys who were considered the best players in the world.
- Michael Jordan
- Arvydis Sabonis
- Oscar Schmidt
We will never really know how Sabonis and Schmidt would have stacked up if they went to College and played their entire career in the US. If I was to guess, I’d say both would have been in the top 15 of this list. Sabonis was strong like Shaq, Passed like Walton and hit hook shots like Kareem.
When Sabonis came to the NBA at age 31, his knees were in such bad shape that a Doctor famously quoted that he’d gladly arrange handicapped parking for him. Still averaged 16/10 as a rookie.
Schmidt didn’t even play defense (seriously)…and never, ever passed the ball. He had a greener light from 3pt range than Steph Curry does today, which was unheard of at the time. His philosophy was that any energy he spent playing defense would detract from his offense. He regularly averaged 40+ ppg (in 40min games I believe).
I strongly encourage users to watch footage of these guys, particularly in Olympic competition.

r377ParticipantThe Pippen pick at 18 was awful. Yes he was good, but not all-time great at 18. You would not build a franchise around him.
Pippen was overrated. He was weak mentally. He is good as a secondary player but to be the man or the superstar of the team, it is just not him. He could not carry a team
I agree with a lot of what is said about Pippen here:
