With this liking for Maxime Raynaud could he have been an option for the Spurs last year with the 8th pick in a less deep draft. They would equate to about the same level in my view. I just don’t know if I’m misreading the draft or some guys on here are bullish about certain players. Its not like a high risk pick as Raynaud and Coward will have low downside risk if they stay sound.

Raynaud would have skyrocketed up draft boards had he scrimmaged like he did this year… I’m not bullish on Raynaud, just know he’s French guy who hung out with Wemby who has been climbing up draft boards because he destroyed everyone in the scrimmage… He’s also been linked as a good fit next to Wemby being that he lead the NCAA in rebounds and can hit a jumper.

Raynaud has great size and alongside Wemby you’d have a real twin towers. Plus Reynaud can play inside easily being 250lbs. He is a legit 3 point shooting presence too. There is that metric that Wemby’s height means a lot of his 3′ point attempts can be uncontested shots. If you have another 7ft plus guy oncourt alongside him the Reynaud could have same affect as the biggest opposition guy is likely on Wemby.

Have we ever seen a team using two 7’0+ stretech bigs? That plus two ball handlers with Fox, Castle and Harper and an off the ball shooter like Vassell would be deadly. Or you can even run a third big like Sochan since Wemby and Sochan are so versatile defensively.

Lots of teams have run Twin Towers but usually one played as a paint player. Spurs still have Harrison Barnes as an experienced intangibles guy in the mix and can find shooters via FA if needed.
