Bucks should go with the Jakob Poeltl. Based on his height and talent alone the guy probably should have gone somewhere in the 5-7 range, but a really solid center to go with their core of Giannis, Parker, and Middleton.

But more importantly, the Bucks need to find a way to trade MCW. Their team could be a spacing nightmare if he started at PG next season…

I think they would go with poetl here.

Playing Greg Monroe at center is just not going to cut it long-term and he is likely gone after next season if not sooner. The bucks need a big man who could offer rim protection and give them something offensively. Poetl seems like he has a good chance to become that. They could reach for someone like skal, maker, or deyonta Davis as well, but poetl just seems like the most logical pick to me.

I will go with Jakob Poetl. Milwaukee adds another two way player to their young core. It also let them explore the trade market for Greg Monroe trying to get some shooters, what this team desperately needs.

Poetl for sure, they really can use an ideal, skilled two way center to give them option for another style of game…

I’ve gone Sabonis for the last two picks but I’m going to change to Poeltl here as I think he’ll go inside the top 10 in the actual draft and for the reasons stated by the guys above.

I think the stars are aligning for Milwaukee to take Poeltl.

    1. They were supposedly high on him last year.
    2. He’s the only 1st round prospect they’ve brought in for a workout, and it was a private workout.
    3. He fits a need.
    4. The Bucks just hired the guy from Nylon Calculus, who’ve had multiple writers project Poeltl as one of the top 5 or so prospects in this year’s class.
    5. It sounds like he legitimately WANTS to play for the Bucks.

    Other options would be:

Wade Baldwin – Fit wise, he’s pretty much perfect.  Good 3 point shooter with length, athleticism, ability to play off-ball PG role.

Skal Labissiere – If he reaches his potential, he’d probably be the ideal center for the Bucks and Chad Ford has noted that Milwaukee is interested in him.

Dejounte Murray – Fit wise, doesn’t make much sense, but Chad Ford cited that the Bucks are interested, and one of the Nylon Calculus writers projects him as a top 5 pick in the draft.

Jakob Poetl could go 3rd. He is an athletic big man that has shown improvement in his game every step of the way and responds well to good coaching. Smart player that does the little things well and only takes good shots. Match made in heaven for Kidd. Monroe and MCW gotta go.

Bucks select Jakob Poetl. Poetl would be the first Utah player to be selected in the top 10 since the Bucks selected Andrew Bogut #1 in 2005. Great post up player that was very efficient 59% from the field while one on one on the block this past year at Utah. Poetl gives the Bucks much needed size down low for the foreseeable future.

I think they’ll almost certainly look into trading them.  I don’t think they should be traded just to get them off the team no matter what though.

If they can’t get a pick in the 20-25 range or a solid rotation player for MCW, I’d probably just keep him.  He’s still a pretty solid defender with the potential to be an elite defender on any given night when he’s dialed in.  Ideally, he’s probably a 6th man that you can hopefully surround with shooters.  He certainly still has value in the league; I could easily see a playoff team offering their 1st round pick to add him to their bench unit and attempt to tap into his potential.

In the case of Monroe, I’d be looking for a lottery pick or an above-average starter at the minimum.  He may not be a great fit in Milwaukee right now, but Milwaukee has so much developing to do still.  It’s possible he could become a good fit later on (yes, they’d probably need to re-sign him at that point to reap the benefits of it), and even as a bad fit, numbers like WS/48, BPM, and his on-off splits suggest he was somewhere between the Bucks #1-#3 player last year.  It would be silly to dump him unless they get a nice package for him.

i really like his game. hes not a star but hes so well rounded, reads the defenses, plays hard can gaurd, has good agility. The bucks could really use a center after the monroe signing wasnt quite the game changer they were hoping for.

id preffer if the bucks went with wade baldwin. just seems like the kind of back court mate i would want to pair up with G in the long run. its also because i havent given up on John Henson and that when milwaukee is able to trade monroe, i believe theyll get a servicable center such as robin lopez back.

If any team was going to reach on Baldwin they would be the team besides maybe the bulls at 14.

I don’t think they will though , esp if they plan to use Giannis at the 1 guard spot experiment next season.

If they don’t go Poeltl or Davis here I’d look for them to go Luwawu or Korkmaz if they are available, before they picked Baldwin or similar.

     Jakob Poeltl.

As stated, 2 way potential. Has good mobility to hedge PnR’s, good hands, great size. If his ability to protect the rim can Translate, he’ll be a great fit.

Poeltl would do exactly what the Bucks want him to do, protect the rim and play solid defence. He is a decent floor runner for his size and will get shots with the opposition having to guard Jabari, Giannis and co.

The Bucks still need a shooter though, if Hield did start to fall down the actual draft I wonder if they might try to trade up to get him if they could get a package for Monroe or use him as part of the trade. Plus they own their picks going forward so could dangle one of them as well.

Poeltl makes a lot of sense if they are actually shopping Monroe. which they probably are.

However given that Poeltl is probably gone in the actual, despite being on this board I think they might gamble on Davis even if Poeltl is available given Davis elite athleticism matching up well with the pace of the bucks.
