Tim49461ParticipantHear me out!
The idea and thought that Kyrie, Wiggins and Lebron all running on the fast break just sounds insane. But that is not the reason the Cavs should forget trading for Kevin Love.
Kevin Love as good of a rebounder/scorer he is, the Cavs are giving up their entire team just to get him. You are looking at Wiggins, Waiters and Thompson most likely plus Draft picks for Kevin Love. That leaves the Cavs with Bennet Delladova and Alonzo Gee to be the bench for the Cavs.
How is that better than Wade and Bosh plus filling out the roster with other notable free agents?!
A Starting Line up of Kyrie-Unknown-Lebron-Love-Andy V isnt that much better or sexy as people think it is.
I’m begging the Cavs to hold on to Wiggins. Tell Lebron, it will be all good even if we don’t add anyone because Kyrie-Wiggins-Lebron-Thompson-Andy V is still going to win you a lot of games if not make it back to the finals. This team is capable of being a defensive force with Kyrie Wiggins and Lebron shutting down any wing tandem in the NBA.
Keep Wiggins and look for other FA and S & T’s. Like..
Ray Allen (Already being recruited if he goes)
Emeka Okafor
And many more FA
S & T’s that could happen in a heart beat
1. Tristan Thompson and Waiters for Greg Monroe + Salary fillers
2." " Chandler Parson

JCliff24ParticipantThe rumor I heard from (Cleveland radio) Tony Rizzo was its Wiggins, Bennett and a first round pick. Not Waiters and Wiggins.

teamcb3ParticipantHow do you use the term defensive force and Kyrie Irving in the same sentence? Kyrie might be the third worst wing defender in the entire league behind Harden and Lillard.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI hope to god they don’t trade for love. Why trade for a guy that’s going to be a free agent next year. Why not wait till the season when the t wolves get a little more desperate. Wiggins should be off limits.

drpg913ParticipantYou don’t wait because of trade offers from other teams, You don’t wait for a maybe when you can get a definitely. and also they may not have the cap money to sign Love without Bird Rights for his full salary

OverTimeCrunkParticipantI don’t believe LeBron would go to the Cavs for the reasoning of playing with a rookie as his wing man. He wants NBA star now talent players to play with. Aka Love and Irving if he goes to the Cavs. And the only way to get Kevin Love there this season, is to trade Wiggins. I don’t believe the Wolves would take any other package from them, that didn’t include Andrew Wiggins.

Toronto16ParticipantWaiters and Wiggins are enough to make salaries match?
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/09/2014 - 8:43am #933645

mixtape2003Participantafter the trade today I know they will have about 4-5 million in cap space after they sign lebron to a max, so I assume they are using that to absorb the rest of Love’s contract. Not 100% sure if they have to match salary for salary or can use that cap space in this trade

tuck243ParticipantThey’ll have around $4-5 Million in cap space.. With Wiggins and Bennett both making around $5.5 million a year it will match perfectly with Love’s $15.7 Million contract… If they truly want to dump an additional contract, Alonzo Gee should be in that deal IMO… But makes you wonder if a sign and trade for Melo would be an option too? That’s around $20 Million and I’m sure the Knicks will have no issue with doing it…

Tim49461ParticipantI believe Kyrie is capable of more when it comes to defense. He has no reason to play defense currently. He has to do so much on offense.
Bennett and Wiggins doesn’t match up salaries. That is why I thought ( not saying its true) Waiters and thompson had to be thrown in.
I wouldn’t say Lebron is banking on a rookie to be is side kick. He does have Kyrie but adding Wiggins who is in the mold of Leonard right now is pretty enticing if you ask me. Someone who can guard 1-3 for Lebron so he doesn’t have to.

JD’s_TimberpuppiesParticipantWhile I understand the love affair with Wiggins I think he will be a very good player. Imagine what the Cavs would have in Lebron, Love and Irving…Love and Irving are great 3 point shooters, Waiters isn’t too shabby either. Kevin Love shoots just as good if not better than Bosh, Love also does all the dirty work, crashing the boards on both end of the court. Their offense will be virtually unstoppable. Their defense won’t be the best, but you cannot have it all. I don’t watch the Cavs live a lot, what kind of defender is Waiters? With the deal being rumored to be Thompson and Wiggins two very good defenders would be leaving. Now I am a Wolves fan and I like Dieng a lot, would not want to trade him but If I’m the Cavs I want him. Maybe they give up Waiters, Thompson and Wiggins for Love and Dieng. Would leave a hole at the 2 but would add rim protection. I see Dieng being a movable piece with Pek and his large contract going anywhere.

tuck243ParticipantTake LeBron out of the equation and revert back before the draft… The Cavs had the #1 pick and we had a few discussions on here about what the Cavs should do with that pick… The option of Love came up a few times and a few people got negged for it (including me)… At that time, would the Wolves take the #1 pick and Bennett for Love straight up? I think they would, so what has changed that the Cavs would have to increase their offer for Love? That’s giving up too much for him… They could simply give the Wolves Bennett, Alonzo Gee, Wiggins or Waiters… That’s it… Anything else would be too much…
Another thing, if it does go down… LeBron has managed to send another Top 2 pick to the Wolves after joining the team…

Andrew1984ParticipantIF LeBron signs with Cleveland and the deal with Minnesota is finalized as reported, the Cavs roster would look like this:
1: Kyrie, Delly
2: Waiters, Felix, Joe Harris
3. LeBron, Scotty Hopson
4. Love, Thompson, Dwight Powell, Shane Edwards
5. Varejao, HaywoodGee was released a couple weeks ago and Jack and Karasev were dealt today. I can’t tell whether the trade would work on ESPN’s trade machine because Wiggins isn’t technically signed yet. I believe just Wiggins and Bennett on rookie deals wouldn’t be enough for salaries to match. I’ve read that Haywood has a uniquely attractive contract. I’ve also heard that Kevin Martin would be included in any package for Love, but I don’t know whether or not that’s true.
I’ve also read that Varejao is a “LeBron favorite,” but I’m not sure I buy it.
They are also going after Ray Allen and Mike Miller, if LeBron signs.
In the event that LeBron elects to remain in Miami, the Cavs may still pursue Love, but may pursue Chandler Parsons and Trevor Ariza.

burgessfourParticipantWhile I agree the roster will need some tweaking I think the OP is right, they should not trade Wiggins. He’s just too talented and young to move in a deal where the Cavs would likely have to do a 3 for 1 deal. If they can get Love in a deal for 2-3 1’s plus some combo of Bennett/Waitors/Thompson maybe the Wolves would bite. I guess it would depend it what the other offers are.

TheLastWordParticipantIf the Cavs get Lebron it is because they have a deal in place to get Love. And Wiggins is the only one to make that work.
Lebron/Irving/Wiggins < Lebron/Wade/Bosh
Lebron/Irving/Love > Lebron/Wade/Bosh
It’s not rocket science. Lebron wants more rings, and he wants them now.
