why was Curry not an All star this year? insiders please

Wanted to ask this a long time ago.
His influence on the Warriors was so huge along with his shooting performances before the AllStarGame, why was he not selected?
Due to All start selection criteria?
Could someone that has depth understanding of the NBA explain it please? Thanks

The fans didn’t vote enough for him and the coaches didn’t vote enough for him, that’s the bottom line.
It’s extremely challenging for guards in the West to make the all star team when you consider the number of deserving options available. The last handful of years there has always been at least one deserving guard in the West who didn’t make the all star team. This year Steph Curry was the one who deserved to be an all star, but wasn’t named one.

as good as curry was this season, he is not better than kobe, cp3, tony parker, russell westbrook and james harden. Maybe you could argue for curry against James Harden though

Yeah it’s really hard to break into the All-Star game at guard in the West. There were just 5 other really good candidates (with all 5 of them and Curry being in my personal top 10 for MVP).
Keep in mind that this is the same conference where:
Deron Williams didn’t make the All-Star team in 2008 when he had 18.8 PPG, 10.5 APG for a 54 win Jazz squad, and also didn’t make the team in 2009 with 19.4 PPG and 10.7 APG on a 48 win team.
Steve Nash didn’t make the All-Star team in 2009 (15.7 PPG, 9.7 APG, 50/43/93 shooting) or 2011 (14.7 PPG, 11.4 APG, 49/40/91 shooting).
Tony Parker didn’t make the All-Star team in 2008 (18.8 PPG, 6 APG, 49 FG% for a 56 win team) or 2011 (17.5 PPG, 6.6 APG, 52 FG% and the best player on a 61 win team).
With increased exposure in the playoffs and his popularity increasing Curry should make a few All-Star games in his career. But at least as an All-Star snub he is in some pretty elite company.
