druchrisParticipantLooking at the current ESPN 100 for 2014, I dont see 1 player that is franchise changing. I’ve looked at hoopmixtapes’, high school highlights, and no one really stands out to me. They all pretty much seem like the "man-amongst-boy" types. I bring this topic up after reading that Jerry West thought this 2014 draft class was actually "hyped". Looking at the class thats about to follow this current draft class, I think we are about to see a major drop off in ELITE talent. I truely dont see one All-Star caliber player, even potentially, besides maybe Tyus Jones or Kelly Oubre, and maybe Okafor. I think Jahlil Okafor is overrated and is pretty much a slightly bigger version of Jared Sullinger. I think Myles Turner is also overrated, he’s definitely NBA quality but I dont see Chris Bosh, I see more Channing Frye. Mudiay is overrated athletically, he has a bully nature to his game that I think we eventually be exposed with more athletic players, but he’s certainly NBA quality. The rest of those dudes are light, to put it simply. I think if Tyus Jones can overcome the size thing he COULD be special, but the NBA is phasing out the 6’1 point guards, so he’s probably be a Tyler Ennis type dude (Not bad, but not GREAT). Kelly Oubre has some of those ‘star’ intangibles but he has to improve his coordination and jumper, he sometimes looks robotic in his movements, but I could see him being a Shawn Marion type guy, if he doesnt vastly improve or Demar Derozan type. Im not even going to go into 2015 high school class, I give them time, but from what I’ve seen the same applies.
1. Jahlil Okafor
Myles Turner
Cliff Alexander
Tyus Jones
Emmanuel Mudiay
Trey Lyles
Stan Johnson
Justin Jackson
Karl Townes
Theo Pinson
11. Kelly Oubre

WolfRobParticipantHow do we know Ennis isn’t great? He’s been great at syracuse.
Also… A bigger Jared Sullinger sounds scary. A lot of teams would want a bigger Jared Sullinger.
I agree, there isn’t quite as much elite talent, but that just speaks to the potential of how special this draft could be.
Next years draft is looking more promising than last years draft.

Anton123ParticipantOkafor does seem similar to Sullinger, but he measured at 6’11 with a 7’6.25 wingspan and 277 pounds last year. That is crazy size for someone so skilled. And also who knows, he might’ve grown since mid-2013.
I think Okafor can become an Al Jefferson type of player.

JordanC20ParticipantI am a big Tyus Jones fan he’s going to be great also like Myles Turner for his uniqueness.

Ghost01ParticipantI’ve looked at hoopmixtapes’, high school highlights, and no one really stands out to me.
If you use those to judge who stands out to you, that’s not good. Highlight videos…show you highlights. Everyone looks good.

TheDagger40ParticipantWhat about Ben Simmons?
At 6’9-6’10 he has a good frame and seems pretty athletic and skilled, I know right now he’s in the class after next year, but he’s the same age as the Class of 2014, so he should reclassify.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantWe must have very different views of scouting basketball players. I think the high school classes of 2013-2016 will provide quite a few NBA All Star type of players in each class to say the least.
