    Now hear me out.

Michael Jordan didn’t win with superstars.  His best teammates were Pippen and Rodman.  Okay.  Fair enough.  But Jeremy Lin’s best teammates are Landry Fields and Steve Novak.

Michael Jordan is one of the best players in the history of UNC basketball.  Okay.  Fair enough.  But Jeremy Lin is one of the best players in the history of Harvard.

Michael Jordan was black.  Okay.  Fair enough.  But Jeremy Lin is Asian.

Seriously, guys, could you please tone it down a little on the "Lin-sanity"?  It’s getting a little ridiculous.  If he was a black guy out of, say, Michigan, would there be as much hoopla about him?  Not to diminish his accomplishments, but I think much too big a deal is being made of this story at this point in time.

Lin-sanity is a great feel good story. He seems like a great kid. Went to Harvard (amazing academically). Also, there is finally someone asians can look too in the NBA. Theres nothing wrong with having a lil fun on the biggest breakout of this yr (sorry Rubio). Just think, if he broke out earlier in the season he could of givin the Asians enough time to vote him as a starter in the all-star game! haha

its gonna turn people against him. I mean he isnt doing anything wrong and it should be a feel good story everyone can get behind. But the absolute nut licking after 1 week of basketball is ridiculous. I guess new yorkers need something to root for.

Only an ethical American minority playing for a New York team could make this much noise this fast.  I remenber when Ramon Sessions had like 20 assists in his first career start and nobody cared.

But I’m starting to smell conspiracy.  The Knicks have the biggest basketball market in the world and they succin it up so Stern decided to give Jeremy Lin steroids and set him loose on the NBA.

But I do love the story developing here i mean this is some epic stuff he’s doing.  But dude graduated from Harvard with a degree in economics it’s like he’s taking a pay cut to play in the NBA, now that’s balling.

I think it’s more impressive that Lin is doing what he;s doing as an Asian American.

Would you not be more impressed by an African American CEO than a white one?

Would you not be more impressed by an African American Mathmetician than an Asian one?

    I rest my case.

I agree w Tli.  But him being Asian is also causing peopl to make a bigger deal out of this than they would otherwise

Why would anybody be more impressed by an African American CEO than a white one, I’m just curious.

The reason there isn’t a lot of black CEO is because of a lack of opportunity not a lack of talent or qualified individuals. In Jermey Lin’s case, it’s unusual to see a Chinese GUARD play at that level, even if it’s only 4 games..

it is not about just being New York but media likes to jump on big stories just like the Tebow thing.  It is a good story.

Underdog versus the odds.  Lin story is almost akin to winning the 200 million dollar lottery but on a bigger scale because of his background and the fact that to most people he came out of nowhere.

I do believe if he were black they would not be as much hype then again if he were black from Harvard, I think there could be an opportunity there for a big story.

Lin has too many story line to ignore and that is why the hype especially since in this economy reporters are trying to keep their jobs when they are competing against everyone with a blog, vlog, or twitter account.

Yeah but Jeremy Lin still has an Economic degree from Harvard.  Like let’s be real, even if wasn’t playing in the NBA he is still going to be living a very extremely successful life.

He’s getting over hyped because the NBA wants to secure the Asian market which means $$$$$ for the NBA.

If there was a black hockey player or Nascar driver he would get his balls licked to.

Our society is based off of stereotypes, and when someone breaks one of those sterotypes, we become amazed and make them the man of the hour.

If he was a black guy out of Michigan he might have been drafted in the lottery. He scored 89 points in the his first three starts the most since the NBA-ABA merger…This is kinda a big deal (in terms of basketball) and deserves all the hoopla it’s generating, especially considering most of the NBA hoopla theses days is focused on star players demanding trades and the Miami Heat.

But honestly though; creating another thread on the same topic was absolutely unneccesary. Right now half the topics on the first page are about Lin.

I made this thread to mock the hype being given to Lin in a parodying sort of way.  I feel it was a unique approach

Now Jordan and Lin have joined forces.

Look for Charlotte to compete with Miami for that last playoff spot behind the Knicks.
