GlenTaylorSucksParticipantMVP
1) Rose. One of the few guys who can take over a game by himself, and put his team on his back when needed. He’s helped the Bulls greatly, they may even finish out with the 1 seed, despite going long periods of time without Boozer and Noah.
2) Gasol/Bryant. I can’t decide which Laker would get the MVP…Kobe scores and is more flashy, but I’d argue that Gasol may be more important to the team.
3) Lebron/Wade. Same problem here with the Heat. I think LeBron wins out though, because he still tears up the court, and can singlehandedly dominate games at another level.
In the mix: Dirk, Dwight Howard, Kevin Durant
ROY
1) Griffin. No contest here, no need to elaborate. The dude’s a flat-out beast.
MIP
1) Kevin Love- Had the first 30-30 game in almost 30 years, along with several 20-20 games. This isn’t just a guy who’s gotten better because he’s getting more minutes. He’s improved his outside shot, he’s become a more intense rebounder, improved his passing…about the only thing he hasn’t really improved is his defense, lol
2) LaMarcus Aldridge- The main reason Portland is in contention. Since Roy went down, he took over the team and led the team to several wins. He’s improved his decision making, scoring, defense…pretty much everything. He’ll be a perennial all star soon enough
3) Russell Westbrook- made the jump from star to superstar; from very good PG to one of the best in the League. He can still force shots and doesn’t have the best jumper, but he can get to the hoop at will, and may be one of the best defensive players at the PG position.
In the mix: Roy Hibbert, Dorell Wright
DPOY
1) Dwight Howard- Probably the only person on the Magic who plays more than "ok" defense. If Howard weren’t on the Magic, they’d easily give up at least 105 ppg.
2) Tyson Chandler- The sleeper. I wouldn’t be shocked if he upset Howard. Dallas has become a MUCH better defensive team because of him.
3) KG- He’s getting old, but still anchors the Celtics defense.
In the mix: Joakim Noah, Rajon Rondo, Thabo Sefolosha
COY
1) Thibodeau (Bulls)- Took a team that was alright last year, and led them to the top of the East, and heavily improved their defense, doing all that despite injuries to Noah and Boozer. He deserves it.
2) Popovich (Spurs)- I think he would have gotten it were it not for their recent losing streak. Everybody wrote the Spurs off as too old, but Pop found a way to lead them to nearly 60 wins (as of today)
3) Jackson (Lakers)- They’ve lost once since the All Star break. Damn. But, they kind of underperformed the first half of the season, so that may end up losing him the award.

delfamParticipantno love for Doug Collins for COY, I know Thibs will probably get it, but he has the MVP on his team. Sixers were garbage last year and Collins brought them back from the grave.

boxn1ParticipantI agree with your mvp, doy, coy picks, but Aldridge made a transition no one else can on your mip list has, he went from good player to franchise player out of need.

torontoraptors10ParticipantI gotta agree with Doug Collins with COY. I know it’s going to Tom Thibodeau, but I just feel that Collins did more with less.

BKKnicksfanParticipantI just feel that Collins did more with less.
Really? Could you explain please?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/02/2011 - 2:29pm #516946

delfamParticipant^ Chicago has arguaably the MVP of the whole league and a multiple all-star in Boozer. The only all-star Philly has his Brand and he’s past his prime. Could you explain?

BKKnicksfanParticipantMe?

delfamParticipant^ yes, this was your quote
"I just feel that Collins did more with less.
Really? Could you explain please?"
so your saying the Sixers have more talent then the Bulls?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/02/2011 - 2:41pm #516955

BKKnicksfanParticipantThe Bulls were a good team last season. What many people forgot was when they decided to drop out and go after LeBron. They traded John Salmons to Milwaukee and Ty Thomas to Charlotte, both those teams finished 6th and 7th last year to Chicago’s 8th. Both those teams had big second halfs last year as well. So to say Chicago was a "Alright" team was false to me.
As for the talent, They have similar talent, with the difference being Derrick Rose. Other then Rose, I’d agrue they’re pretty close when I look at the top 5 for each teams
- Bulls: Rose, Boozer, Noah, Deng, Gibson
- Sixers: Iguadala, Brand, Holiday, Williams, Young
Am I saying the Sixers have more talent? NO but the talent level isn’t that far off. I wouldn’t call it a weak team, nor would I say the talent level differs enough to say Collins did more with less

torontoraptors10ParticipantHere let me explain myself when I said Collins has done more with less.
Collins team wasn’t supposed to be in playoff contention. I’m pretty sure most of us here wouldn’t be thinking at the end of the year that the Sixers have a chance to make it. The Bulls on the other hand, have an MVP candidate, signed an all-star PF in Carlos Boozer and had high expectations which they are living up too. On the contrary, the Sixers are doing something that no one predicted or even expected.

Disagree. Many people here had the Sixers in the playoffs.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantMVP: Dwight, he has stepped his game up, his stats are there with D Rose and simply if Orlando didn’t have him they’d be on the Cavs level while the Bulls would be a playoff team. that’s value
COY: Nate McMillan, what other coach lost their star player not just for a few games but possibly forever? LA didnt become as good as he is by himself and no other coach has meshed a deadline trade as well as Nate
ROY: ahhhhhh duuuuhhhhh
DPOY: ahhhhhh duhhhhh
MIP: wouldn’t mind if LA or Love won it
6th man: Lamar Kardashian

Ahkasi ClayParticipantMVP: Howard, but Rose, James, and Gasol should get some consideration.
ROY: Griffin
MIP: Love
COY: Jerry Sloan (31-23 when he left) call it life time acheivment, but he needs to win atleast 1 COY award!
Dpoy: Howard, A man am amogst smaller men!

NYCrealdealParticipant“Dwight Howard- Probably the only person on the Magic who plays more than “ok” defense. ”
r u serious. ok defense. howard is the best defensive player in the L0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/02/2011 - 7:04pm #517059

TeamShowtimeLakersParticipantMVP- Derrick Rose
ROY- Blake Griffin
DPOY- Tyson Chandler
COY- Greg Pop or Tom Thib
MIP- Kevin Love or Lamarcus Aldridge

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantHoward plays amazing defense. The "ok" was referring to the fact that the majority of his teammates couldn’t guard a third grader.
