Tyreke Evans is the best scorer? Is this some kind of joke or are you serious? If you are serious, you sound very bias. All they guy can do is get to the rim. He does do this very good but as far as a scorer, no. The best scorer in the draft has to be a guy who can hit the 3, the mid range, get to the rim, and sink a foul shot. Right? Correct me if I’m wrong. Harden and Curry are the two best at the top of the draft. Not Evans. As the ROY goes, if Griffin starts it will be him. Otherwise, Harden, Rubio, or Curry. It all depends on where they land and how much they play. But these four are going to compete for it all year if they get to play.

blake griffin. harden will not be assertive enough to get enough ppg to receive rookie of the year. he is the type of player that sits back and waits until he needs to score. he defers to his teammates to much to have a high ppg in his rookie season. im a big harden fan, however i just think that he will not be assertive enough since he will have so many older players around him that he will not look for his shot enough to have killer stats that are necessary to win ROY. i do think however that he will be a good addition to any team that drafts him in the way courtney lee has done for the magic.

yea i like james harden to win ROY. the dude can score any way he wants to and he scores in bunches. plus he’s a smart player, probably the smartest in the draft. the game comes easily to him and damn is he smooth out there. and also he’s not just a scorer. he likes to dish out the rock and get his teammates involved if his shots not falling he finds other little things to help his team.

James Harden for ROY, he could have a similar impact to what Brandon Roy did for the Blazers. Quietly efficient but not really eye catching for most parts of the year. But in the long run, I guess Harden might not be the best player to come out of this year’s draft.

The popular choice would be Blake Griffin. I think Griffin is a flat out stud but going to the Clippers may not be the best situation for him to flourish in year one and win ROY. I think he will be the most effective player from this class down the road but I think there are a few that could be better next year.

Thabeet is a guy that I could definitely see winning ROY. He is gonna get a ton of blocks and rebounds and be very important to whatever team he goes to. I dont see him averaging a ton of points but his size alone will get him a few dunks a game. It would not surprise me one bit if Thabeet got ROY.

Rubio will also be in discussion if he gets the minutes for it to happen. PG is a position where you can come in as a rookie and be productive and noticeable. Rubio will be closely followed, probably the most closely followed player in the draft, and if he is succeeding then he could run away with it.

Think Curry getting open looks if he’s paired up with one of, if not the best low post scorer in the NBA, Al Jefferson. With the double teams being thrown at Jefferson that could leave Curry to do his thing.
He could provide the point guard needed for Minnesota, and he could soon start over Telfair. In Minnesota Curry could see the ROY trophy.

Hello? Anyone heard of Blake Griffin? No matter where he ends up, most likely with the Clips, he’s gonna be given at least 28 minutes a game and probably be asked to be one of the primary post scorers. In Dunleavy’s system with the Clips, assuming only Z-Bo gets traded, B-Griff will get at least around 10 post touches and a few opportunities on the wing to create and a few spot up 15 footers created by Eric Gordan drives. Of course, Griffin will give 110% on the boards and TRY to play great defense. Out of all of the top prospects, I really believe he’ll be least prone to foul trouble, so, he’ll have lots of opportunities to stay on the court. B-Griff won’t have too much trouble on the defensive end dues to his OK size; the same cannot be said for Curry, who many on this forum are touting as the front reunner for ROY. Curry can shoot, no doubt, but is that more valuable than a great all around game? I think not. By the way, Wally Szerbiak, Daniel Gibson, and Eddie House can shoot too. Not too many guys can say they have the all around game of B-Griff in the NBA today. I rest my case.

Below are the players I believe will be in the mix to win rookie of the year:

Blake Griffin: He will put up monster numbers but will he be able to stay on the court? Everyone one loves his motor but this led to his many injuries in college. He also isn’t a very good defender which could be explained by his short wingspan. Ultimately, the Clippers wont improve much starting Griffin over Randolph.

Ricky Rubio: As long as the grizzlies can convince him to come from over seas, he could have a tremendous impact. Will be a big improvement over Mike Conley. He has great size for a point guard and is a good defender and 3pt shooter to go along with his amazing ball handling and passing skills. The grizzlies also have plenty of cap space could sign one of several good PF this offseason (David Lee, Glenn Davis, Anderson Varejao, Chris Anderson, Charlie Villanueva, Channing Frye, Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap) to go along with Rubio, Mayo, Gay, and Gasol. This would give the Grizzlies a formidable lineup capable of making the playoffs.

James Harden: Believed to be targeted by Oklahoma City. Would be a great fit there. Harden did struggle toward the end of the season but in Oklahoma City he wont have to be the man like at Arizona State. With players like Durant, Green, and Westbrook, Harden will be able to ease into his rookie year. Also, don’t be surprised if the Thunder go for DeRozan instead. Remember last year everyone had the Thunder taking Bayless at 4 and then draft day they shocked everyone but taking Westbrook. I see DeRozan as the better prospect and would fit well being a freak athlete who doesn’t need to be the focal point of the offense to score. If one of these guys goes to the Thunder, they would be my front runner to win ROY.

Stephen Curry: If selected by New York like many believe, he will have the opportunity to start right away. He will score plenty but his lack of size will make him a defensive liability. Ultimately, upgrading from Duhon to Curry wont be enough to offset the possible losses of Nate Robinson and David Lee. Don’t look for New York to make the playoffs or for Curry to win ROY.

Tyreke Evans: I like him much more as a point guard prospect then as a shooting guard. Has good size and had a lot of success at Memphis playing the point. Can defend and get to the rim. Could go as high as 4th to Sacramento and as low as 9th to Toronto. Depending on where he goes and what position he plays, could have a surprisingly good rookie year much like Westbrook did this past year.

Jonny Flynn: If he goes at 10 to Milwaukee then expect for him to start right away and for the Bucks to let Sessions go via free agency. An explosive scorer and a fan favorite. Lacks size but makes up for it with good athleticism. I see him as being more of a high energy six man like Nate Robinson, Jason Terry, and Raymond Felton. Regardless, if he gets the playing time he will be in the hunt for ROY.

Harden will win the rookie of the year if drafted by OKC because he will be the difference maker for the thunder, he will free the Kid up and allow Russel Westbrook to be able to drive and kick to a good jump shooter and that will help the thunder jump into that final playoff spot in the west. I could see Blake stealing it from James Harden like Lebron did Melo (Rememeber Melo averaged 21 points 6 boards while Lebron averaged 20 points 5 boards. But the biggest factor was Melo got Denver in the playoffs while Lebron was fishing at the end of the regular season) My point being Blake’s going to have a lot of the media watching with hime being the number 1 pick

If Flynn is drafted by Milwaukee then there is a good chance he will start. That means they wont sign Ramon Sessions back because they are trying to get under the luxury tax and would sign Charlie Villanueva. The only other players left on the team that would be able to play point guard are Luke Ridnour and Charlie Bell, both of which he could beat out for the starting role. Also, don’t forget that this was the team started LR Mbah a Moute 52 out of 82 games last year and he was the 37th overall pick.
