Who will have the better sophomore year, D’Angelo Russell or Emmanuel Mudiay? Both looked much improved in SL, but it’s SL…and both are terrific young guards who play two totally different styles. Looking forward to watching both of these guys play in 16-17

I’m a little bit biased, as D’Angelo Russell is my favorite player in the NBA — not because I admire his character or anything, but because he’s the guy I probably resembled most in my playing days with regard to style of play and approach to the game.

Russell is a better shooter, both off the dribble and off the catch, and has better vision and more of a knack for sensing where teammates are. He’s also less TO-prone.

Mudiay is faster, leaps higher, is more physical, and a much better athlete, but I personally expect Russell to surpass several PGs this year and finish the year in the conversation as a top 10-15 or so PG, because he is more skilled and a more complete player.

I’ve loved Mudiays game since the 8th grade (used to play against him in the AAU days), and I expect both of them to take a major step forward this year, but I just think Russell’s game fits today’s style of play better and I think he’s going to prove himself as a deadly all-around offensive player with his size, shooting, and passing ability. I expect the Lakers to play a very fast paced game and this will help Russell statistically when comparing the two.

I definitely think Mudiay will have a much more efficient year shooting the ball and will cut down on turnovers, but I also expect Jamal Murray and Gary Harris to play fairly big roles in the offense, so I don’t anticipate Mudiay to have as good numbers as Russell.

Both players have All-star potential, but I think Russell has more impressive year statistically.

Russell’s shooting really saves him, similar to Steph his quick release really opens up a lot of holes for him on offense. The fact that he’s able to abuse opposing pg’s in the post at 20 years old is impressive. I’d have to say Russell takes a bigger step this season.

I’m going with D.Russ. Nuggets drafted all the guards that need the ball in there hands takes away from Mudiay developing.

Its very close between the two. I think k at the end of the year it will be debatable who had the better season. Russell will likely score more on a worse team with better shooting percentages. Mudiay will likely play better D and distribute more on also a bad team but not nearly ad bad as LA in my opinion. We will be asking this question for a while as their careers will likely be compared coming from the same draft and playing the same position.

a below Average Pro —- but I was SO Wrong……. D’Lo was in an Impossible sitaution w/ Kobe’s Farewell tour swirling around him & him playing 2 Guard ALL year

Russell Must have the Ball to be effective & that was Crystal Clear this Summer….. I Loved Mudiay entering the NBA — I thought the Knicks were CRAZY to pass on him

but I was Wrong…. Mudiay is Such a Remarkable Talent….. Physically he has Everything & he Is mature….. Russell is Smaller, Slower & can Not defende one V one

But Mudiay’s shooting is AWFUL – so Much worse than I imagined & Russell’s Shooting is Dynamic! a Team in the Modern NBA w/ Zones can Hide a weak link on Defense but teams can No longer play w/ a man who can NOT shoot….. We are Seeing this ALl over the NBA & I suspect this is why Denver Drafted Jamal Murray

The Lakers have 2 Stars in Russell & Ingram & a really Nice young Nucleus w/ Randle, Clarkson & Zubac….. Both teams are going to FUN to watch this year & Both are on the Come Up but I’m Excited about seeing the Lakers b/c of Russell & Ingram

Sophomore matchups, what about Tyus Jones vs Cameron Payne? And Norman Powell vs Justin Anderson?

       KAT>Okafor

      Porzingis>Hezonja

Winslow>Johnson- My personal favourite. I would normally pick Stan but with Winslow projected to get an increased role and Johnson still sharing time with Harris/Morris Justice should be more productive.p

Turner > Portis- Both teams have depth upfront but Turner should get the greenlight after his playoff performance last year.

I don’t think the Turner/Portis comparison is fair or even close for that matter.

Turner vs Porzingis is going to turn into something special especially if these teams meet in the play-offs.

D’angelo Russel = Kyrie Irving … Emmanual Mudiay = John Wall.

I’m not comparing the talent but I expect the comparisons between the two players to follow similar lines as Wall vs. Irving.

I still don’t know which player is better. Kyrie had a great finals, but he only got to that stage because he played with Lebon James and Kevin Love. Who knows how Wall would perform if given a high-caliber team…
