r377ParticipantNow we are a month or so into the season. After all the crazy money thrown around last offseason whose contract’s looks like good and bad value now ?

LA12ParticipantEvan Turner’s just not cutting it in Portland. It was a really odd signing because he doesn’t really fit as another ball dominant player, and he doesn’t really stretch the floor. Even if he’s meant to be the main ball handler for the bench unit, he doesn’t add the shooting that they need.

Hype MachineDellavedova was the best signing…hands down.
As usual the greedy American players and agents are crippling fanchises by playing hardball on contracts.
While less selfish international players like Tim Duncan, Dellavedova, Nowitzki and Giannis are happy to take paycuts to help their team get better.

KingslayerParticipantIf you had it your way, Delly would be the reigning NBA Finals MVP… He didn’t take a paycut or accept less than he deserved. If he was willing to do that, then he would have stayed with the Champs instead of signing an RFA offer sheet with a lesser team. And he had every right, as every player does, to maximize his value in free agency.
Btw, there are plenty of US born players who have accepted less money to help the team. Recent examples include David West and Demar Derozan.

Mr. HookShotParticipantI will focus a bit on the larger contracts that were considered ‘over-pays’ before the season started, at least by me 😉
Dwayne Wade (2 years, $48 million, good value) – Before the season started I thought signing Wade was a sentimental decision, as Chicago wanted to bring him ‘home’. However, he is showing that he still has something left in the tank, and is one of the main reasons for the surprise the Bulls are today.
Hassan Whiteside (4 years, $98 million, good value) – I was not sold on this contract, as I saw Whiteside mainly as a defensive anchor for a team that would not compete with the best in the East. While the second part is true, the first part is not as Whiteside is showing that have a more diverse offensive game that the Heat can actually rely on.
Joakim Noah (4 years, $72 million, worst of the worst value) – For me and many around the league this signing was definitely a head scratcher. I’m not even sure what they expected or how they thought their team would look like, but looking at the Knicks it has become obvious that Porzingis is their C of the future, with Melo at the PF and all they need is a physical back-up C that can provide relief for Porzingis when needed (Kyle O’Quinn).

Robb_CParticipantJames Ennis- 2 years for 6 Mil is insane value for his production at the moment.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantEven with the new t.v money I still struggle to understand the logic of paying someone 100+ million to play sport..
But that aside the worst deals so far:
Chandler parsons: 94 mill for 4 years.
The guy can’t stay on the court and those knees of his kind of make me believe he won’t probably get to 70+ games in a season anytime soon..Alright talent but not 94 mill alright..
Noah 72 mill over 4:
Jackson overpaid this guy and he doesn’t fit that team at all.I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to pay someone to take him off their hands(with picks most likely)..He also hasn’t played many games at all..Noah would have been better going to Thibs team at a discount and actually playing/having in an impact(only guy who can somehow use him)..
Evan turner: 72 mill over 4 years..
Good on him for getting paid but boy did he make the wrong choice..
4 stops and only two possibly used him right(Philly and Boston)..He honestly should have taken a discount and stayed in Boston as he is going to rot in portland due to not fitting their system/stars..
The on the cusp of bad deals: They are talented but worth their deals maybe not..
Mike Conoly:150+ mil for a guy that isn’t a lebron or someone of that nature is really head scratching he is a solid player but 150 mill I don’t think so..The back injury may also further lean him towards really bad deal soon.Bradley beal 130 over 4 years: Guy is talented no doubt, but boy is he injury prone as F*ck this is one of those deals where his health is the issue. So far he has only small ones but boy have the Wiz sucked this season(I guess it must be part brooks fault lol). Usually these types of deals = stat explosions see Klay when he got his 70 mill deal initially..Boy did he take off.
Best value deals:Dion waiters: 5 mill 2 years.
Guy signed on a steal of deal and has fitted spos system nicely and has proven OKC year wasn’t a fluke year..He might be on a bigger deal if opts out though so will be interesting to see if he not on overpriced deal soon lol
Dwight howard. 69 mill over 3 is not lookingn to bad for dwight and he seems to almost have had a mini revival in Atlanta..He probably wont get to orlando stats but he will look better than he ever did in Houston/L.A.. The Hawks don’t look to bad even with the loss of Horford..
K.D. 53 over 2 years
I really hate saying this since he left my Favorite team(OKC) but he is having a very efficient year and is a upgrade over Barnes hands down..
D-wade: 46 mill over 2 years
He has Chicago back in the mix for the playoff hunt and is only on a two year deal so its not to bad a value. This also gives the bulls a vet that will help show Jimmy the ropes of how to win also..

llperez55 mill a year for mikeandler parsley for the grizz is worst deal

D7H7NParticipantMo Speights wanted to re-sign with GSW for 8M/year. They obviously didn’t have cap room so he waited and waited in free agency for any teams to bite. Eventually the Clippers picked him up for the vet’s minimum.
Luol Deng may have been the worst free agency signing just looking at his stats. Getting paid 72M/4 while shooting 34/29/70 at 7PPG as a starter lol.

khaled_a_dParticipantIt isn’t one of the best or the worst deals
But Harrison Barnes deal look alright,it seem Rick Carlisle has been able to use him to his strength.
The team is obviously really bad,but at the age of 24 HB is a good signing for the future.0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/04/2016 - 10:07am #1089113

ChoppyParticipantIt might not be "value" per se, but Jon Leuer is quietly posting a nice season. Signed for $10mil per year in the offseason, Leuer is repaying the faith that SVG showed in him. Averaging nearly 11ppg (up 4 from his career mark) and almost 7 Rebs (up about 3), all while shooting 35% from 3 and nearly 50% from the floor. In a few years $10mil will seem like a bargain (if it doesn’t already). Leuer is definitely earning his keep.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantTurner, Parsons, & Noah have been the worst. Luol Deng & Solomon Hill have been pretty bad too.
Mo Harkless, Eric Gordon, Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford & Jon Leuer are guys who are playing very well and giving their teams what they paid for on medium range FA deals.
Of the big $ guys: Wade, KD, Whiteside, & Barnes have looked the most worthy of the $ they got.
Best overall value: I have to go with either Mo Speights with the Clippers, Tim Frazier in NO or Dion Waiters in Miami

SmooveKRYPTParticipantTerrence Jones too. Almost forgot he’s playing for the minimum

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantluol Deng and joakim Noah just look very bad considering their age and what their expected production will be by the end of those contracts.
Best value deal? I think without a question it’s okc getting Westbrook to sign a contract extension this summer. I know it doesn’t really fit the description of a "value deal" but when you consider what the ramifications would have been for the franchise if he hadn’t he is clearly worth every penny and then some. They would’ve likely been forced to trade him for pennies on the dollar.

holefillers1ParticipantHarrison Barnes for sure. If we are talking about all FA I would also throw Nic Batum in the mix. Solid all around forward. Also George Hill…when healthy he is always in my FBball lineup.

nath09ParticipantWorst is Parsons. Conley and Parsons earning 60 mill and hardly raised a sweat.
I likeTerrence Jones. Not sureit was the best but I do like what they got for their money. Bet Griz would swap Parsons for him in a heartbeat.

machu46ParticipantNot quite on the level of the Joakim Noah deal, but Miles Plumlee getting over $50 million to rack up DNP-CD’s for eternity was just a hilariously terrible deal.
Does Giannis’ 4 year, $100 million extension count in the good deals discussion? The kid is simply incredible.

bballjunkie09ParticipantSolomon Hill no question. When he got 4 years/52 mil I was completely baffled. He’s a below average player, and an average one at best on a good day. Shout out to his agent though for getting him a massive pay day
