Yea rondo is underrated and somebody up here said he is not an elite point guard im not goin to name no names and talented as the big three all they all need rondo. rondo is starting point guard in the all star game to me.

i took a gamble over the summer calling him the best point guard in the league if you give him a consistent jumpshot. i’m glad he’s getting praise on here.

This is the “Rondo Love Thread”, but oh well… Here I go.

I think he’s overrated IF you’re saying he’s a top five point guard. Reason being is because he can’t shoot. He has little to no range (zero from 3-point) and he’s awful from the free-throw line. I think the free-throw shooting is the main knock on him. I mean, he shoots .47%. That’s awful, especially considering he has the ball in his hands a lot. I think it’s an absolute liability in the clutch. He shoots a worse free-throw percentage than Dwight Howard and is nearly on par with Shaquille O’Neal.

He’s exceptional at everything else though, which gets him a top ten ranking in my book. I think he’s an elite point guard, just not in the top five.

people just dislike Rondo’s game thats why they say he is overrated which I always found dumb. He’s a star and will be for a while

I’ve said he’s ranked about 8-11 pg’s in the nba, not elite or top 5. That’s not hating at all or based on his style. It’s becasue I think there other pg’s who could help the celtics just as much and I’m not sure he could carry his own team like a elite all-star should.

I thought I’d be the first to rain on the Rondo parade. He’s overrated because he’s a terrible shooter. He doesn’t hit free throws and he doesnt hit three’s. Unless he’s always hitting the mid range floater or finishing at the basket with contact, he struggles to get his own points. If he was a top two scoring option he wouldn’t score more than 16 points a game with his percentages. He has some very glaring weaknesses to go along with his great strengths. But I dont think he can carry a team the way Paul, Williams, Arenas, Harris, Jennings, Rose and Davis have shown. His defense is superb, but other than he isnt significantly better than a lot of point guards.

yeah also his passing is a little overrated you can see how much inflated his styats are having Wallace added this year their way better i really think he would struggle on a bad team where he doesnt have Ray Pierce and Wallace to kick it out too and no Garnett in the middle of the lane that being said hes still a top ten pg because he might be the best defensive pg in the league (i still think Chauncey might be better Chalmers maybe too hes up there) and a good rebounder and pretty good on offense except for his ugly jumpshot
