just wondering who guys think will be the ROY, aside from Blake Griffin. I would love to hear some sleepers like a Sam Young, Blair.

I think Evans is a lock

Tyreke Evans based on the fact that he’ll probably get the most playing time out of all the rookies.

I still like Griffin to win it, but yeah Evans, has to be a close second for me and players like James Harden, Brandon Jennings, and Steph Curry are in the mix too, the biggest sleeper in my opinion has to be Earl Clark, i think he fits in nicely with Phoenix and his versatility will allow him to flourish in that system

Im not being biased at all, but I strongly believe he will win ROY, i also believe he will be an all star for several years, i expect him to average around 16ppg 5ast 5reb and maybe a steal, apart from Tyreke, either Jonny Flynn or Blake Griffin

The ROY of the year depends on who will be playing a lot of minutes. The more polished players like Harden, Evans, and Curry will probably be starting right away. Blair may not start but will probably play a lot of minutes because the Spurs do not have any strong rebounders other than Duncan. Although I don’t think Evans will be the best player in the long run, I would pick Evans as ROY because he will get more shots on a team that needs another scorer. I don’t see players drafted on potential like Derozan and Jennings getting a lot of minutes right away.

I think tyreke has a good chance not just 2 win the rookie of the year but 2 be considered the best player in this rookie class when it all said and done

If he shows from the start that he can keep his turnovers and mistakes to a minimum which he showed in summer league, skiles is gonna let run the show

    Evans, Curry or Clark

Evans will get a lot of PT , but he needs another facilitator to be great.

Nellie loves Curry, so he’ll get the mins – can he put up the #’s

Clark will flourish in PHX’s system and if Amare get’s hurt he will be ROY

I agree w/ Magicknick – Flynn could put up huge #’s as the only PG and Bid Al to dump it to.

Sorry to bust yall’s bubbles but many of you have a lot of players averaging over 15 points. Honestly that only happens in really good drafts. Griffin will go for like 14 and 9. Harden since he’s most ready will get like 16 and 4. Evans will get 15 despite how much pt he’s had very little experience. Curry may get over 15 also but no one else will I can gaurantee it right now.

    The top choices:
    – Harden (Will have to share the ball, but could have great all round numbers, like a lower scoring B Roy)
    – Evens (Will have good numbers, but could shoot below 40%, and be on a terrible team)
    – Flynn (Could be a serious supprise, and could be the focal point of the T-Wolves perrimeter attack)

    Sleepers:
    – Chase Budinger (Houston is in trouble next year, and he has some serious skill, people just do not see him as tough, if his shot is as good as advertised, and he uses his athleticism – he is a hungry/upset 2nd rounder – he could shoot well, and give the defensive minded Rockets the scoring they need.)

    Top Choice:

-Tyreke Evans maintains pure scoring ability with a leaky shot but has the mold physically to became a toned down LeBron type slasher at the 1 or 2. (I’m not comparing ability just potential scoring type.)
-Jonny Flynn has the quickness and explosiveness to create for himself while evidently creating for others as the floor general.
-DeMar DeRozan will provide instant athleticism and quickness to a Raptors team that is thoroughly deprived of both.

    Sleeper:

    – Austin Daye will be able to excel in Detroit’s system, able to fulfill most positions on the court. A true scorer with a surprising ability to rebound (As shown in Summer League, I know it’s Summer League) and because of his versatility should see more minutes than expected.

dwat4444- No one is making outlandish predictions, they’re all basically the same as yours. Besides, what credentials do you have to shoot down everyone else and boast your own predictions?

I did a little research and I found out the stat about the ROY award. From the 03/04 to the 08/09 seasons the Raptors had a runners up in the ROY award expect for the 04 draft pick Rafael Araujo and no first round draft picks in the 08 Draft. 03/04 – Bosh, 04/05 – n/a, 05/06 – Charlie V, 06/07 – Bargnani, 07/08 – Jamario Moon, 08/09 – n/a.

Another info to look out for was the past four ROY are guards so I believe that might not change but Blake is heavily the ROY in many eyes. But I think guys like Brandon Jennings, Demar DeRozan, Tyreke Evans, James Harden, Johnny Flynn, Jrue Holiday can be consider as well.

Brandon Jennings then Tyreke Evans then Stephen Curry for all of their ability to have break out scoring games… im leaning toward BJ because he is the most athletic of them all and for his ability to make the flashy highlight reel play which will make him popular with the fans

is real smooth but until he proves to me he can step in up in crunch time i dont like him to win ROY.
do yall forget that he scored 10 points in TWO NCAA tournament games after avg 20.2 in the regular season?

flyn can have a great impact i see 15ppg 5aspg if they can trade rubio for some talent he can have a really great impact. jennings is my slepper he will avg around 12ppg 6aspg. but blake will win it with 16ppg 10rpg
