Not really close with those remaining. Rondo is long, he is fast, he is young, but he is nowhere as complete as CP3.

My opinion. While I don’t think Rondo is a complete player, he is still elite. The one weakness in his game that people say he can’t do is shoot. I watch the games and when you back off him he will shoot and make it. I would say he isn’t a good shooter, but he is more trusted to shoot the ball then Tony Parker. Like Russel Westbrook, he defends and rebounds tops amongst point guards. Also on assist I’ll take Rondo over Cp3 all day. Rondo leads the league in apg this year and is up there every year in that category. He also has the most triple doubles of any player this year.

Basketball is based on wins and losses and total production, not just assists.

While Rondo may rack up the assists like nobody we’ve seen since John Stockton, CP3 could easily do the same, he has amazing court vision and everytime he gets in the lane you have to account for him which leaves shooters and dump off men. He can penetrate, dish, and knock down the shot, which is what seperates him from Rondo. He’s the smartest player in the league, he makes his teamates better, and opens up more opportunies for them. Think about it, the main difference from this Clips team compared to last was adding Caron, and exchanging a 13 and 6 BDiddy for Mo Williams, and of course swapping Kaman and Gordon for Paul, and guys like Evan and Martin, but untill the palyoffs they have not made huge impacts, but back to the point, he basically single-handedly transformed a perenial laughing stock into a darkhorse contender, although I believe that teh Pop-DelNegro coahcing matchup will be like a grown man toying and messing with a little baby, but Paul is the best PG in the league today, and the best remaining in the playoffs.

Is right putting Mario Chalmers on that list at the bottom. He’s more of defensive stopper and spot up shooter on the Heat now. Not much running the point honestly. He’s got the easiest job in the world, and at times still can’t knock down shots lol.

No question.  Isn’t he considered #1a with a healthy Rose, as the best PG in the NBA?

in my opinion, although the Rondo and Westbrook order could be debated, as well as the Hill and Sessions spots

Call me crazy, but Westbrook contends for the top spot to me, his team swept the defending champions and look like they are on their way to another sweep based off of how game 1 is going so far against the Lakers ,yes OKC has more than just Westbrook but you go as far as your PG takes you.

CP3 just watch the OT game and how he took over, also he’s playing hurt.

Westbrook and Rondo you can debate at 2 and 3 both solid defenders one is great at scoring the other at passing.

Parker we’ll find out when he faces CP3 this upcoming series but he’s definitely top 4.

Holiday a good defender very clutch in Game 2 against Boston, if he hits shots consistently thats huge for Philly.

Collison I consider him the PG because he gets more assists than Hill.

Chalmers had a good series but going up against Baron Davis for 4 games and not Lin or Shumpert helped.

Sessions is being hurt by PG’s on defense and offensively his shot isn’t falling 37% and 19% on 3’s.  The 3 to 1 ast/to ratio is very good though.

He has, I think 8, playoff triple doubles.  Chris Paul could play SG and put up relatively the same numbers.  Westbrook the same thing.  Rondo is a pure PG, he’s not a dominant scorer, but is a defensive stopper, rebounding, assist machine.  Remember we are not talking about "player" but PG.  If I’m choosing a pg for my team, then it comes down to Rondo vs. Tony Parker.  Just my opinion.

I must say, CP3 hasn’t done a great job actually playing the point for that Clippers team, sure, he takes over in the 4th quarter like nobody’s business, but I’ve been pretty unimpressed with his playmaking in the playoffs thus far. Doesn’t do much to get Griffin easy buckets and the Clippers offense is straight up ugly.

He’s still the best PG remaining, but I’m a little disappointed is all.

I look at it this way: If you take any of these point guards off their current team, which team would suffer the most? I would rank the PG’s like this:

    1. It has to be Chris Paul. The Clippers are a surely a lottery team without him. He’s the best decision maker, closer, and leader out of all the remaining point guards and he doesn’t really have a flaw.

    2. Tony Parker would have to be 2nd. His skill set is similar to Paul. Great decison maker and penetrator. This was Tony Parker’s best season as a pro as it was more his team than Duncan’s team than in years past.

    3. Toss up between Rajon Rondo and Russel Westbrook. Their styles are different as Westbrook is more of a shoot-first point guard and Rondo is obviously a pass-first point guard but their decison making can be questionable at times. They’re both turnover prone and Westbrook takes some ill-advised shots as Rondo makes some ill-advised passes. I’m from Boston, so I’ve seen basically every Celtics game the past few years and I’ve never seen someone pass up as many layups as Rondo does. (It’s likes he’s trying too hard to lead the league in assists) He also has a tendency to make risky cross court passes and tends to gamble on defense alot. In the few games without Rondo this year (8-5), Pierce has done a great job filling in as the point forward role (36 pts 14rebs 4 ast in game 2 vs ATL)

    5. Jrue Holiday

    6. George Hill and Darren Collison

    7. Mario Chalmers

    8. Ramon Sessions

    1. CP3

    2. Westbrook – Tough call between him and Rondo really a toss up you can argue all day and night either way.

    2A. Rondo

    4. Parker

    5. Holiday

    6. Chalmers – Way better defender compared to the two under him.

    7. Sessions

    8. Hill/Collison

Has to be Chris Paul. Tony Parker had a very strong start to the playoffs, but I think Paul is just on another level. I’d have Rondo below Westbrook as well. Like Rondo’s game, but I think Westbrook’s ability to shoot, and finish stronger around the rim is what sets them apart for me. Both can be turnover prone at times, but I think Russell is slightly better at this point in time. Rankings:

Paul, Parker, Westbrook, Rondo, Holiday, Hill/Collison, Chalmers, Sessions.

I have Sessions last, not because I don’t think he’s a good player, but he’s in a system that doesn’t exactly let him thrive. He does better in the open floor, but he needs to play more reserved, and that’s not his game.

Looking through other posts, I saw someone bring up Derrick Rose. The debate between him and Rose are interesting ones because they are different players. Rose is score first, and Paul isn’t unless he needs to take over the game. For what I expect in a PG, I’d take Paul, very strong, great court vision, good athlete, leader, and can hit the shots when they are needed.

Parker is good, but he is not great. Definitley not better than Rondo and I really dont think he is better than Westbrook.

DurantsWingspan, I’m not ranking them on what they’ve done pre 2011-2012, but if you simply go by how Parker played in the 1st round, and in the regular season, he has to be above Russell and Rondo. He was 5th in the MVP voting because of what he did. That can’t just be brushed off. This season he’s been better than them.

I am not saying you are wrong, I understand it is the majority’s opinion that Parker has been better than them two this year, I just don’t feel that way. He may have played a great year, but my opinion is that if Rajon Rondo or Russell Westbrook traded places with him, the Spurs would be even better because I believe they are better than him.
