valentineOne thing I notice about NBA fans/commentators is a strong tendancy to live in the past, over-praise for past accomplishments, and make lame predictions for the next year based on previous years.
The other huge error fans/commentators make is just assuming that a good collection of players automatically equals good team play, and good record. But that’s another thread.
So who do you think is going to no longer play like a "star" this year?
Because most pre-season predictions completely ignore the possibility/likeliness of players just aging out.
A lot of people STILL think Rondo is a star, based on how he played 4 years ago. Just ridiculous.
We watched Crash Wallace just fall off a cliff, performance-wise, over a two year period. From the age of about 29 years old.
Noah dropped off a cliff last year, at 30 years old.
Pau Gasol is probably due.
Pierce for sure.
Carmelo at 31 has probably seen his best seasons already, regardless of the contract he just got. He might not even score 20 ppg again, and if he does, his defense will be worse than ever.
Amir Johnson, who my Celtics just signed, was dismissed by the Raptors and their fans as over the hill, and they are probably right. Hopefully not, but probably so.
With the HGH testing in place, the LeBron we see in the future might be a lot closer to the one we saw before his two week "rejuvenation" in Miami mid-season last year. He’s got a ton of miles on his body.
Bosh is probably on the downward slide, for sure, once he gets back on the court.
Wade, sliding. Temper your Miami Heat predictions, folks.
Marc Gasol is 30, just signed a big contract, and probably won’t be winning any more DPOY awards, dubious as the last one was.
Point guards often burn out the fastest, and Chris Paul is already 30 years old. Maybe Blake and DeAndre won’t be the only overrated stars on the Clips this year.
Things change fast in the NBA, quicker than it’s fans anticipate.
So who did I miss?

ChicagoCaseyParticipantLOL.
- Rondo was coming back from a torn ACL and before he got traded to the Dallas Mavericks he was like leading the league in assist. Everybody knew it was a terrible trade for Rondo because he didn’t fit the system and the current roster.
- Joakim Noah was hurt all season so I won’t say he "fell off". He had offseason surgery.
- Chris Bosh before the blood clots was having his best season since coming to Miami.
- Dwyane Wade is still a 20 point scorer and a top 3 shooting guard in the NBA.
- Pau Gasol also had his best season in years when he came to the Chicago Bulls
- Chris Paul Dropoff LOL
- T-Rex you troll you

Rip255Great thread. Youre right about people living off past accomplishments.
I look at guys who just got paid…who I dont believe have a true passion for the sport.
So Im predicting Goran Dragic…I just see him doing more pimping in South Beach than practicing.

T RexYup. Goran only got PAID because Miami traded so much for him.
Within a year Miami will wish they just traded for IT4 and his 7 mil per year contract.

BiggysmallsParticipantSome of these predictions just seem silly.
Melo, for all his faults, is an elite scorer. He may not be the mot efficient player, but he’ll score 25 a game no doubt. His game isn’t predicated on athleticism or explosiveness, so he’ll last a while as a volume scorer.
Bosh is the same way. More cerebral than athletic. Good shooter. If his health is alright, he’ll be a 17-21 ppg guy
The Gasols will age just fine. Both are skilled and smart. May not score as much as they did, but they’ll never be liabilities on the floor.
Paul won’t drop off. Stats might dip because Clips added guys, but Paul will drive that team’s success.
Noah dropped off because of injuries. Maybe that’s his age coming into play, but if he’s healthy, he’s fine and Chicago probably goes to the Finals.
