The Cavs can get a lot better by arranging a trade, for July, when Haywood and his $10million deal can be waived for nothing, and the news says they would also add their pick to this package.

So what teams want a late first and to trade away a good player on big money?

If I’m Detroit I like the the Brandon Jennings idea. I think it would really benefit both teams. This is not my idea, I seen it on another post but I reallly think that this would be a good deal for both teams.

Jordan Hill did spring to mind as mentioned above. Kevin Martin and Anthony Bennett back from the Cavs perhaps.

It was a great bit of creative contract making by the Cavs to offer Haywood that sort of deal. Almost creates a guaranteed trade, I recall when the Mavericks had Eric Dampier on a similar none guaranteed final year and turned it into a trade to get Tyson Chandler and won the title the next year.

Throw in 24th pick and you have a great package.

what teams need cap space? that is the question… and what teams can attract quality fa that is the next question…

so whomever cavs trade with will want another player as well i think

send the 53rd , joe harris and possibly mike miller along with haywoods expiring to the knicks for two decent bench players ;cleanthony early (sf) and langston galloway (pg).

don’t trade the 24th and instead use it on a combo guard

A lot of contending teams would not want to make the Cavs any stronger unless it was really an unwanted player and the Cavs would not want to help a contender either. So in my line of thinking the trade may well be with a legit lottery team which is rebuilding or possibly a first round eliminated play off team circa Boston/Bucks level.

The likes of Detroit and T-Wolves would be perfect teams to do a trade with.

O.J Mayo was another name which came to mind, he is only a bench player for the Bucks and could do a similar job for the Cavs.

Lance Stephenson would have been the perfect fit but he just got traded.

Lakers aren’t going to pickup Hill’s option so if they could get Haywood (who they would cut and still get that cap space) and the pick they may do that. Have heard two things that the Lakers are trying to package 27 and 34 to move up in the draft and if that is true they def. would have more ammunition to do that getting Clevelands pick as well or they are trying to dump the 27th or go stash pick with that because they don’t want the committed salary. I think they would have to move up into the 10-16 range to try and grab Stanley Johnson or Sam Dekker to trade up so if they could get a pick from Miami, Phoenix, OKC, or Boston who are rumored to have their picks up for grabs then trading Hill to Cleveland for that extra pick would be worth it.
