Which team do you think is better and why?
(P.s: I want answers that result for this season only. I can understand some players may be better in the future. Since this is fantacy league for 2009-2010 I want to know which team is better.

1ST TEAM BY FAR. LEBRON JAMES IS THE ONLY PERSON I WOULD PICK OVER ANYBODY ELSE ON THE 2ND TEAM. CHAUNCEY BILLUPS WILL BE BETTER THEN DEVIN HARRIS IN THE PLAYOFFS BUT I DONT KNOW ABOUT THE REGULAR SEASON.

Ben Gordan is good but hes still not as good as Carter. We all know Luis Scola has proved himself in the playoffs but i still don think he can be better than Josh Smith. I think this is Greg oden’s Year to prove his number 1 pick and i think Dwight is better than Oden. SO i gota say team 2 is better overall.

second team will almost UNDOUBTABLY win in EVERY SINGLE category EXCEPT rebounding..

billups james and carter will have about 18 assists per game combined, both james and josh smith could go for 2 blocks 1 steal (maybe not lebron but smith will, lebron will be close). billups and carter will make more 3’s than gordon and harris. josh smith oden and james will get more blocks than howard and scola. and they arent KILLED by howards horrendous FT%(not to mention hes close to leading the league in attempts)… plus i think oden is primed for a breakout season…

also i noticed nobody else actually gave u real reasons, just opinions…. hope this helps

esperanzafleet pretty much stole my argument lol, but the one thing that no one really account for in fantasy bball is TURNOVERS! Any team with Howard on it will have a horrible turnover number week in and week out. Add to that Gordan’s tendency to jack up three after three until he hits one (which will kill not only fantasy owners, but my Pistons as well) and the poor three point % from Melo and Devin Harris and you got a recipe for mediocrity on your hands. Team 2 has the one man edge in LeBron (pts, reb, ast, stl, blk, fg%, ft%), plus Josh Smith’s defensive numbers and its pretty much a runaway fro Team 2

I would say second team, but it really depends on whether you think Oden will play the full season this year.

For fantasy purposes, the second team. They have much more potential in the rarer stats (assists, 3pts, steals and blocks)
The second team has 4 top flight fantasy players, while the first has none. Carter could easily go for 20-5-5 again (Still one of the more efficient and underrated guards) Billups combines a low turnover/usage rate with good percentages across the board and plenty of threes. He a top 5 point guard in fantasy. Lebron is the second best fantasy player behind CP3, and expecting 27pts, 7rebs, 7ast, 2stls, 1block, and 1.5 threes is pretty realistic. Combined with increasing consistancy on his shooting percentages and you have a fantasy monster. Josh Smith should be expected for 3rd round numbers with first round potential. He took a step back last year in most categories, especially his shooting percentages, but a player that blocked 2.7 shots the three years before, turning 24 at the end of the year is too much to pass up. 17-8-3 with a steal and 2 blocks is a baseline expectation, with the potential to carry your defensive numbers. And Oden, if healthy is a double double lock with plenty of help in the defensive stats.

The first team. Harris has a break out year and will probably be asked to carry more of the scoring, which leads me to believe he’ll only increase his career high in turnovers. 1.5 steals and 6 assists are great but less than a three a game is not. Ben Gordon is a great sixth man, but he doesnt help in any cats but threes and scoring. Never averaged a steal, never averaged more than 4 assists, and gets beaten by most 2 guards in rebounding. Melo, while improving his 3 point percentages, doesnt take enough to really make a difference. Combined with low defensive numbers, low assists and a high turnover rate, and youve got a 3rd rounder. With Luis scola. You get a couple of points, 8 recounds, and….. .1 blocks per game. Thats a tenth of a block per game!! Ben Gordan had more last year!!!! From a power forward that doesnt hit 3’s thats unacceptable. He shouldnt even be starting. Howard is like the shaq of fantasy now. He’ll carry you in rebounds, and kill you in turnovers and freethrows. He doesnt even score as much as Shaq, or pass as well.

So honestly, it isnt even a comparison. Scola is the worst fantasy player on either team, no where near enough passing, or defensive stats. Scoring could be even, and maybe rebounding and maybe three pointers. But having three cats as a toss up, with the other 5 cats as a loss, means team 1 loses.
