SwatLakeCityParticipantI am sick and tired of going to ESPN.com and seeing the first thing they talk about is the struggles of a super team. Either its the Heat struggles, Lakers struggles or just recently the Knicks struggles. Why can’t they just get it through their heads that there is nothing to worry about. Their struggles will clear up. They always do. Its natural for a team to struggle that recently went through some major lineup changes. Its called chemistry, that matters a lot on all teams not just super teams. And as for the Lakers, their struggles were only because the Lakers only bring it when its time to get ready for the playoffs. DUH, everyone knows that.
Why does ESPN keep talking about basketball like it is some soap opera. I hate soap opera’s especially when they try to turn my favorite sport into one.

SwatLakeCityParticipantWhy don’t they just post the articles on ESPN LA or ESPN Miami or ESPN New York? It sure would be alot more locally based. They should just keep the articles listed on ESPN.com related to the NBA in general, that all the fans are happy instead of just the fans in LA or New York or Miami or the other fans of those 3 teams. I mean not every fan cares about the super teams. Personally I don’t care one bit about the super teams.

mikeyvthedonParticipantYou are more than likely in a major minority wardb. They play to their overall fan base, and that person might not be the basketball fanatic you are, and more people read about those teams than others. Honestly, ESPN does that with everything, that is how they have been so successful and while I respect it, it bores me too tears as well. Though, it is kind of funny that you come with a rant and than ask for an insider article, lol. Basically, ESPN is what it is, which is one of the reasons I like coming here, to maybe not have to answer the same old, same old that ESPN spews out. It does have some definitely interesting material and coverage, but it gets incredibly repetitive and they can beat some stories into the ground.
They print what sells though, that is what their producers do and that is why Around the Horn and PTI usually talk about the same things as SportsCenter, they just use different words and formats to do so (do not get me started on the boredom which is 1st in 10 or Cold Pizza or whatever they call it). Once in a while though, they will come up with an awesome story, which is why you keep going back and that I visit the site often. But, for basketball content it can get incredibly repetitive. But, it is difficult making original content, look at this message board as an example.
Most of the posts on here are usually stories taken from or done in the format of what ESPN would do. People post about the same players over and over again. After a player or team has a good or bad game, you can usually expect about 3-5 new threads on that player or team, each person trying to get attention for their viewpoint. Also, this site is like show and tell sometimes with the Mock Drafts. One person does one, and than 10 people start new threads posting theirs. This pushes down content and posts that could actually start intelligent discussion. Why not just reply to peoples mock drafts and say, "Well this is how mine would look". I don’t know, it can get a little aggravating at times as well.
Still, I think this site is great and I love writing and the times when we do have great posts in discussions. We get much deeper into all aspects of basketball than you can find on the ESPN home site, and if you want to read some good stuff, True Hoop and other blogs are in abundance outside of the main page articles. Their is so much out there really, it is almost overwhelming, but people seem to just stick with a single source and do not really dig to find it. The internet is a vast place, and their are other basketball communities and articles that are out there, you just have to look for them rather than just rant about the lack of interesting content on one single site.

The lake show2Because they probably dont have anything better to write on the main page so they keep going with what alot of people like to read. I’m kinda tired of it but when i see it posted i read it and i’m, guessing other people do too. No one really wants to read about a team winning all the time they love reading about players/teams struggling. That never gets old. Its liek the news, more people watching then theres a natural disaster or big car crash more so then when its nice weather or a peace agreement is signed
