Just wondering if they plan on keeping him around or if he’ll be bought out of his contract and allowed to join a contender like Portland or OKC

I hear whispers of sign and trade options for next year but I don’t know how much you could get for him……..as a sixers fan, I think the one thing this team really needs is some 2nd round picks.

As he (reportedly) doesn’t want to play here – I’m not sure why the Sixers should have to pay him a dime – if an employee wants to quit, why should you pay him to leave ?  He should pay them a buyout fee.  I agree though – we might be better keeping him, even if he goes inactive and trying to work a sign and trade.  Worst that happens is he gets signed as an unrestricted FA and you use his cap space to get more picks at the trade deadline next year as we’ll have plenty of space to rent again

Signs and trade deal could work in the summer if another team wants an experienced guy and they don’t have cap space. Philly would only take a player back if the deal was sweetened with picks unless it was a player they wanted.

I watched the Sam Hinkie post trade press conference where he talked about wanting hard working, high calibure players on his team and that a veteran presence or two would be useful. He was none commital about Grainger and basically said he needed to let the dust settle, Grainger hasit down with Grainger and Brett Brown and discuss where they saw things going. It seemed as if he was leaving the door open for Grainger certainly for the rest of this season.

Grainger is probably annoyed about being traded and knowing it was clear that the Pacers were not keen to retain him or why else would they have traded him. But if he plays his face then it will not look good when he looks for a new team in the summer.

The 76ers may well waive him but for him to stay and play decent minutes for the last 25 games or so this season would do neither side no harm. The 76ers are looking at the draft but still have games to play and with a young side, a senior player like Grainger is useful. At worse Grainger plays decent minutes proves he is sound, puts up some decent stats and this gets himself in the shop window for FA season.

Sixers should let granger go becasue you dont need the headache and thats all he will cause…..plus he is not in any future plans anyway just let him go. I do think that if he go to the heat he would become a great role player.  its obvious he will not be the 20 plus player he once was so this is a perfect for him.  He cant be their starting 4 alongside lebron and bosh in that frontcourt.  He shoots gives wade and lebron another shooter with a declining alen and battier and can also create his own shot when those two playmakers are not on the floor.  Defense we already know he can play another positive.  And people saying he may be washed up i think is false i think he needs a confidence booster because the situation he was in was not good for any player confidence.  To watch the person you help train take your spot and your team is not good.  You lose confidence and it effects your play on the court.  Leaving and joining a great dynasty like the heat will help his career.

Tonight is the second game since he was traded here, he is not dressed for the game.

I think it’s safe to assume he won’t be playing for the Sixers.

If Granger wants, he gives up a ton of money to go and play somewhere else. This saves Philly money, and gives Granger a legitimate chance for a ring and revenge to his old team.

Adding him to a team like the Heat (as a Lewis-type shooting PF/SF who can also defend a bit better then Lewis) or OKC (as their PF) seems like perfect fits. Darkhorse destinations: Spurs (starting PF?), GSW (replacement of Landry) or Houston (finally a shooting PF).
