Chilbert arenasParticipantNot too impressed to be honest. His shooting has been poor which has affected his ability to get others involved, but it’s summer league. You’re the one who created this thread, what are your thoughts?

SliderParticipantShould’ve stay in college one more year!

providencefriars1ParticipantNo he should not have stayed. There is nothing more he could have done next year. He was the clear cut player of the year and played in the championship

SnowtaParticipantWhen Flip Saunders was asked why he didn’t take and keep Burke he pointed out that apparently Burke shot like 28% or something when being guarded by players over 6’1″. That’s pretty concerning when you think about how big a lot of the PG’s in the league are today. I think he’ll have a decent rookie year, but I could see him struggling to score efficiently especially his first couple years. He should focus on being a playmaker and distributor. If he tries to force the issue scoring-wise I could see him having a rough year. Like I said, I think he’ll be fine, but I don’t see him as a front runner for rookie of the year like some people do.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s just the summer league, but let’s be honest… He’s been trash.
I don’t put a lot of stock into stats, but what’s bothering me is the game seems too quick/fast for him (which is to be expected at first for most rookies), he’s struggling finishing and he’s not really getting his teammates involved. He’s been thinking “shoot first” so far. His first step is average at best.

DolanCareParticipantMy thoughts exactly. He plays hurried and out of control when confronted with Summer League defenses. I realize SL doesn’t mean squat, but I was skeptical of how his game would translate to the NBA, and now I am a little more skeptical.
I love Burke and want him to reach his ceiling. My advice to him is to learn how to create separation before shooting. He is way too content on taking a contested jump shot.

WITNESS2014ParticipantI expected him to at least be decent in the summer league. If he continues to play this way he will get lit up by the point guards in todays era. I dont expect him to ever be a top 10 point guard, but guys like Reggie Jackson who are backups are looking way better than Burke

MopgrassParticipantI got a lot of flack for saying Burke always just barely got by guys and that the NBA would close that gap. I hadn’t heard Flip Saunders say that Burke shot like 28% or something when being guarded by players over 6’1″.
Still, Burke is a winner and I’m sure he’ll adjust.
I did have Michael Carter-Williams, Dennis Schroeder, Isaiah Canaan, and Shane Larkin ranked above him. Burke and MCW are probably the only ones with any real playtime opportunity. They will probably pan out better than the other guys this year.
How about that Oladipo? Not looking bad.

CynthiaParticipantStats in 3 games at 28 MPG:
FG% – 21%
3P% – 7%
FT% – 80%PPG – 9
RPG – 4.3
APG – 3.7
SPG – 0.3
BPK – 0.0TO – 2.3
PF – 2.3Efficiency – 3.33
He actually slightly cushioned his stats today, they were much worse after the first two games, but they’re still surprisingly bad. Those are some of the worst shooting percentages I’ve seen on this level of basketball.
Most people are saying “oh it’s just summer league” but I think that in itself is what is the most alarming. If he struggles in the summer league, you think he’s going to magically be better in the NBA against much tougher competition?
I’m definitely not ready to write him off, and I know slumps happen, but he better find his game really quick for his sake.

SnowtaParticipantThe most concerning of those stats to me is the 3.7 assists/game. Being cold is somewhat understandable, but I would’ve thought if his jump shot wasn’t falling he’d at least be able to get at 5 assists. I understand it’s summer league and he probably wants to work on his scoring, but he should be working on distributing more because that’s what he’s going to have to do in the NBA.

rocketdan9ParticipantThe guy cant function unless he can score first. He will have to learn. Maybe if he beats the other team with his passing skills it can help him with his scoring. But yeah he looks slower and at odds vs nba calibre defenders at this pt
Phil pressey who was undrafted looks alot better so far.

Sewok15ParticipantShould Burke therefore have gone undrafted as evidence by his poor summer league performance?
I think it was ridiculous that Pressey went undrafted but would you take him over Burke right now based off of 3 games in Orlando?
