The 76ers have picks due via Miami and OKC in the late 1st(23 and 27 respectively) plus another in the 2nd round(38th ATM)

My question is who should they try to grab with those picks… We have the assets to move up or down the board on draft night too, so throw out some names in the mid 1st-early 2nd…if you have a trade idea to move up for a Murray or Hield, throw it out there too…

    I am all in on a SF with a Top 3 pick…
Simmons or Ingram have to be the Pick IMO, I’ve been in the Brandon Ingram camp from day one, go check my post from the start of the college season…

After that the floor is yours guys…What SG fits best with the core of Okafor, Ingram, Noel, Saric and Embiid(fingers crossed) ???

Luwalu or Levert. Both 6’7" long w/ solid athleticism. Have potential to be elite from the perimeter offensively and defensively. Nice handle and could run the offense for big lineups.

       Thoughts though…

Luwalu is an international, which would’ve been a plus in Toronto when Colangelo was trying to build around International players, Saric and Embiid fit into his blueprint, but Philadelphia doesn’t like the idea of drafting International players, and with everyone watching the situation closely in Philly, he may not have the stones to draft a guy like Luwalu…

On to Caris Levert, I wouldn’t mind it 1 bit if we landed him at 38, after all the injuries I could see him falling that far…

I’m open to trading up to get a young G like D. Murray, but he’s a high risk high reward guy, it’s hard to move up in any scenario and for Philly to risk it for Murray could get Colangelo questioned immediately…He needs to hit a home run outside of The Eventual Top Pick (Ingram, fingers crossed!!!)

Colangelo needs to find a good starter or 6th man with the Combination of picks he has, look at the league and where most starting SG’s or 6th man G’s are selected, now just imagine what we could included like future picks from Team X or Team Y in 2017 and 2018…

Package the 27th pick and a 1st round pick in 2017(Not ours or the LA pick)

Package the 23rd pick and a 1st round pick in 2018(Wont we have a Pick due from the Kings?)

We should be able to move up few spots to land a solid SG…

Next year’s draft looks like an all in on Justin Jackson and getting a PG via the Lakers pick(If they’re not back in the Top 3 again)

personally, i havent thought of packaging the picks yet. also, given the chance, id like the sixers to use their 23rd pick on Ulis. i do believe he should still be available then and would make a good fit with the sixers. having said that, id use the 27th on either Beasley or Bembry. most of my friends believe those are reaches and are more second round guys, but genuinly like their value as late first rounders.

if luwawu drops think the colangelos will take him honestly, personally think he’ll go higher, same with korkmaz. im also not ruling out the option on trading the 27th pick to the celtics for either RJ Hunter or James Young, as well as explore the development of CJ Wilcox and Jordan Adams and see if their better prospects than whats left on the board regarding 2 guards.

i still believe that he could be a steal, and has the potential to give you buckets! I also think he fits with the young sixers and will have a chance to develop in his role.

Im big on Luwawu, Lavert just has too many injuries for me. I like his game when healthy but he has not put on weight in three years.  If I am giving garunteed money to a draft pick that late in the first round he needs to be able to play.

Not saying he is KD…….. But Ingram is a Very unique specimen…… In any case, w/ Colangelo in charge I have No Idea what Phila does w/ their 1st round picks…….

2 weeks ago, I would have said if the Sixers get the #1 pick take Simmons & don’t look back……. & if it’s #2 take Ingram……..

But if the Lakers pick converts at #4 or #5 Draft Jamal Murray at SG……. & then do whatever you have to do to get your hands on Dejounte Murray w/ one of those other 1st round picks from Miami & OKC……. And if you must package them then package them…….. but I luv Dejounte Murray & Jamal Murray for Phila’s back court………

But now I have No idea what they do……… the 2017 Draft looks Very deep at SF & PG……. So maybe it’s Better for Phila if the Lakers pick converts Next year……. w/ Hinkie they were in No rush & they Still have a TON of 1st round picks over the Next FOUR Drafts………

But Bryan Colangelo was ready to Sell the Farm in Toronto 3 years ago to get Steve Nash……. Colangelo was Begging Nash……. Nash used that Leverage to get a better deal from the Lakers….. Ironically, the 1st round pick that the Lakers gave Phoenix for Nash’s rights is now Controlled by Colangelo Junior……… & we all know  how the Nash deal Worked Out for the Lakers……..

If I was a Betting man…… I’d wager that Colangelo will have Phila back to .500 in One year……. And they will Stay at .500 for the next Decade after…….

LeVert, Payton and Seldon.  That would add some good depth at the guard spots.

Lots of smaller guards in that part of the draft, but 76ers may not need that type of player.  If Simmons does arrive, shooting skills for the guards becomes more important as he will handle the ball.  If it is Ingram, then someone like Trimble or Ulis is an option.

I think the 76ers have the best pick assortment, Boston and Denver are close.  The lottery might change things up.

Then again, didn’t Colangelo often sell draft picks when he was in Phoenix?  That was probably due to the owners.

There should be some solid guards late first/early second, when 76ers pick.  76ers have their height already, and teams in this draft will be going for some tall projects, leaving guards with skill available.  Maybe Valentine slides, unlikely but at 23 there is a chance.

If the Lakers pick conveys this year at #4 or #5, then you go all in this draft. 4 1st round picks the rebuild starts now.

Luwawu is the SG to get, period. As good as Hield and Jamal are offensively, Luwawu has the potential to be that good defensively. I like Levert but the injury history is big and I don’t want to settle on the 2nd choice. Luwawu is the guy to target. Trade down with the Lakers pick to the 7-10 range with Denver or ironically Toronto to draft Luwawu. Hopefully their sold on Bender, Hield or Jamal whomever is left at 4-5 and you add an asset in the process.

Now you’ll have to use some asset/s to move up into 14-20 range for your next target a point guard. The PG I like best depends on whether I land Simmons or Ingram with the Sixers pick. Demitrius Jackson is the guy if I end up with Ingram. Wade Baldwin is that guy if I have Simmons. There both good shooters but Jackson appears to be a better facilitator, more important if you have Ingram. While Baldwin looks like the better potential defender and not quite the floor general, less important with Simmons.

My only other target in the late 1st round is Dejounte Murray. He’s the X factor, I’ve seen him mocked from 10-40. He’s young and will need time to learn the NBA game but I think he projects at least as a 6th man scorer/facilitator off the bench.

Malik Beasley and Micheal Gbinije get honorable mention and I stay away from every other guard worth mentioning in the 1st or early 2nd round.

Next year projects as a better draft for guards at the top but the Sixers need some NBA caliber guards now.

If the Lakers pick doesn’t convey I use Noel preferably, future picks if i have to and Oakafor reluctantly; in order to draft these players. So long as the price is right. With the assets the Sixers have and a little luck, it’s not unreasonable to walk away with Simmons/Ingram, Luwawu and Jackson/Baldwin.

Tanking has been happening the last 3 years in hope of getting of a superstar to rebuild around. It hasn’t happened obviously but with 3 1st round picks possibly 4 yes the rebuild starts now.

Sure that Ingram/luwawu/Baldwin combo would get my attention, finally players to watch in philly, they’re all my guys for different reasons(true number one, underrated, french, steals).

Baldwin no matter who(ingram or simmons), young sophomore still learning the job, averaging 5+ assists in 30 mins( half an assist more than Jackson who plays 36 mins…as an old junior), that’s another ceiling than the back up Jackson, you have to go for it.

Very complementary too, versatility, size, length, shooting, all around game, IQ, attitude, leadership, FTA, post up game at every position, 2 way potential, in 2 words…winning basketball.

Lead guard Baldwin(1-2), SG facilitator Luwawu(2-3), and Ingram(2-3-4 like durant/george) is underrated as a passer, he’ll make plays for others earlier in his career than KD did, he makes the right basketball plays anyway.

When Baldwin and Luwawu are back ups because you drafted or traded for star power in the backcourt, that’s a decent team my lord.

If Embiid’s career is not over, ingram could play some 4 with him at C(not realistic with okafor or noel).

Levert is also my men, but he’s so injury prone in his last 3 seasons, he shouldn’t get guaranteed money in theory, he’s a fit with a lot of teams in the 14-30 range tho(hawks-pacers-bulls, raps/hornets with or without derozan/batum, another do it all guard for the warriors, spurs with a very aging backcourt).

I like beasley too,  a lot of required skills in my book, but it’s typically the type of player who needs to play in a veteran/winning team to fulfill his potential, bringing his element to the game, learning.

Stauskas, smith, rookies,U-23 and/or scrubs wouldn’t teach him much.

LeVert at 27 and Wayne Selden at 38 seem decent fits, on a young team at least try to draft one NBA ready guy who have played 4 years in the NCAA. Valentine, Lawawu and Mal Richardson would seem likely choices at 23 for a SG.

I personally think Philly may look to package 23 and 27 to get inside top 20 which they may need to do in order to get Richardson in particular. If they could move up then Korkmaz or Malik Beasley may fall to them if they could get somewhere 16 to 20.

If the Lakers pick comes over at 4 or 5 then they take one of the Murrays or Brown plus at 4 Hield may be available.

At #23 & #27 I would like some combination from the following:
Timothy Luwawu – I think he’ll be gone
    Dejounte Murray
    Demetrius Jackson
    Malik Beasley

LeVert scares me with the injury issues & Ulis with his height.

Looks like Malcolm Brogdon is falling. As far as I can tell it’s not his play that has led to that, but his age. He turned 23 in December and will be almost 24 when his rookie season begins. Other than that I think he would be fantastic value in the second round, a good defender and shooter who can eventually contribute as a 3 and D kind of player kind of like Kent Bazemore.

If the 76ers can grab him later that would be a great fit.

If I were the 6ers he’d be the type of player I target.  They need versatile rotation players with 2 way potential.  As currently constucted, the meat of their rotation is full of a bunch of 1 dimensional, 1 way players.  They have the high picks to target high ceiling players at the top of the draft, so I would complement that with high floor players who are advanced mentally and physically.  They are not going to be attracting vet role players, other than the end of the rope vets like E.Brand who are signing on to stay in the league,  Now rookies are rookies, but some are much more mature than others.  The mature rookie could be a bit of a substitute for the lack of vets bc they have a better idea of how to play and they are more physically ready to compete.  Maybe they luck out and find their Jae Crowder or D.Carroll, who are types of players that every team could use.

As for Brogdon specifically,  I’d still rate him as a borderline first.  I don’t think he’s dropping bc his ability is starting to be doubted.  I think he fell bc of the sheer number additional early entrants since the season ended.  He’s improved as a shooter and playmaker, he’s physically strong, has good length has a high IQ and defends his ass off.  He has 3 and D potential, but is also comfortable putting the ball on the deck.

Brogdon, Taurean Prince (I would not limit their targets to SGs, they need wings period, even if they do draft Ingram), Selden would all be good choices IMO. Bembry would be an interesting choice, but they need shooting and I don’t think he projects as a good shooter. Patrick McCaw doesn’t tick all the boxes I described in this post, but I think he can be one of the biggest sleepers in the 2nd round bc of his defensive and all-around potential.

     Hield

I think they guy is an offensive beast. I think that 3pt shot and range he has will transfer nicely to the NBA game. He has experience, 4 years college and being a little older than most rookies. I think he fits well on the young team in the fact that he could contribute big minutes right away and be some what of a young leader for them.

I know you are wondering about later in the draft. But I would make a move by trading Okafor or Noel to the team who has the 3rd or 4th pick to get Hield. That would be the SG I would want on the team and I would trade someone to get him. Not to mention it would even out that Big to Guard ratio on the team.

I think Hield will be a solid pro, but the 76ers would need a big package around the pick for Hield in order to deal Okafor or Noel. I’ve been thinking if Boston gets the second pick the 76ers should see if they’d deal the pick for Okafor. Ingram for Okafor seems like a more balanced trade than Hield for Okafor.
