(In writing this im jus goin off the top of my head so excuse the mistakes. )As we all kno there is a rule that u have 2 spend at least 1 year out of high school before u can make the jump 2 the nba. This rule basically forces kids to go 2 college. A certain few of these guys has wat it takes to make it 2 the league and the others are jus playing themselves. A few guys have even taken their talents overseas to try their luck. only 1 has been succesfful so far……Brandon Jennings. The other guy i can think of, Jeremy Tyler, is having a rough go at it from my viewpoint. I dont see many guys becoming succesful and doing wat jennings did. Jennings worked hard and became drafted in the lottery and had many good performances this year en route to a all rookie team selection. Now lets get 2 college. Forcing guys 2 go 2 school has worked okay in my opinion but were starting to see more and more scandals and guys getting in trouble becuz of being forced 2 go. Take Oj mAyo 4 example. He surely would have made the jump 2 the NBA out of high school had the rule permitted him 2. but he had 2 go 2 school. this lead to OJ getting gifts and a car and etc and ultimatley hurts the school by having the ncaa put the school on probation and take away scholarships. even derrick rose. there was talk about his SAT scores not being up 2 par and sumone either changing his scores or taking the test for him. he was another guy who surely would have made the jump straight to the L. my point in this is guys wouldnt feel the need 2 break the rules if they werent having to comply with the rules. these guys are young and sum of them are being given advice by the wrong ppl. Most of these guys are jus wanting to play basketball and as soon as the season is over they prob stop attending class knowing they will enter the draft. this is jus my take on things wat do u guys think?

the speed limit is a rule…if i want to go 80 in the 60 i’ll have to live with the consequences if i get caught

same thing applies to the kids they know not to accept gifts from agents.

I dont even read posts that dont have at least medicre grammar and formatting. I tried to read this and about halfway through you had valid opinions. I see jeremy Tyler being a top notch role player in the league for a while.

i agree with all that, but im not really sure what point you are trying to make. Are you suggesting they should remove the 1 year out of highschool rule?

It has been for awhile, and with the influx of “one and done” players, rule breaking will only increase. However, even among all the allegations and charges, I did get to see D Rose, OJ, Wall, Cousins, Beasley ect in college basketball which was fun and entertaining. It may have been tainted by agents and money, but as a fan of college basketball it was awesome to see these guys.

Let them be drafted out of high school, play one PAID season in the NBDL, and get ‘brought up’ after turning 20, which is what they are trying to do anyways by making them go to college. Kill two birds with one stone, pay the rookie players and bring more attention to the NBDL with young prospects getting to play immediately…just an idea that would never realistically work, but it would be exciting to see it happen…

the players can go to the nbdl out of highschool and get paid if they want. People need to stop acting like they are being forced into college. They choose college becasue it is the best way to get seen and to help their draft stock.

The NBA is not an entry level employer, and the league is better for making that known. Kids do not have to go to college, and the NBDL there for the prep stars who want it. The league just wants to give teams the opportunity to scout potential players against adults, what is the harm in that? We saw the harm in letting 18-year olds who got fat against overmatched children did? The draft turned into a roulette wheel, and it ended up ruining the draft’s original purpose of giving bad teams a shot at the best young talent.

The NBA makes players go to College because out of High School they are not as experienced and as educated as if they went to College. By having them attend College makes them learn about the real world, and judgement skills, so they are not doing ill-advised things. Without the College rule being enforced, players would be less experienced and the NBA would be a ton of Kwame Browns. My point is that it gives these NBA teams more time to watch the players develop through High School and College, so they can prove to be productive players at the next level and good citizens of society.

Yeah I understand the game and how it works…so I guess that one year of college really made a difference on the Daniel Orton’s of the world right? It’s ridiculous, one year in college doesn’t change people/players drastically…maybe the guys that actually stay 3-4 years, it helps them the most, but the one year thing is just plain dumb…

I think it should be somewhat along the lines of baseball, either go straight to the NBA or go to college and stay for like 2-3 years but if you go straight to the NBA you have to spend some time in the D-League this way it benefits both the college game and NBA game while also making the D-League more successful, I think that would work best because it gives athletes a choice to either polish their game in college and receive a quality education or for the players who feel they are good enough the opportunity to go right to playing professional basketball

I do think the D-League should be considered more of a viable alternative, but the college game is held in such high regard that players would rather compete for a prestigious prize for free (an NCAA championship) than get paid to play for something nobody really cares about (D-League championship).

i think the one year rule has worked for the most part, look at the success of durant, rose, evans, and jrue holiday. plus guys can go overseas, or to the nbdl. the only problem is the kids accepting gifts and money. i mean tcondrin brought up the speed limit thing but the problem is the athletes arent the ones being punished but the schools are. that is what needs fixing but that isnt the nbas problem.

making these kids stay longer would only result in more issues with kids breaking rules or accepting money. Right now, its much easier for a one and done prospect to keep his nose clean for 1 semester then just drop out after the basketball season and prepare for the draft.

far fetched idea at this moment, but i feel if a kid is good enough for someone to pay them they should take the oppertunity. the NBA is not an entry level job i agree 100%. so i think it would be nice to see these kids turn the NBDL into a real like farm system for the NBA. If there were some way the NBA could make going to the D league more appealing it would do wonders for everyone. The players would learn at a comfortable pace on what being a professional is about. The NBA would make a little more money as the NBDL would recieve more attention. And the NCAA scandles should reduce as money driven players would go the D league instead of pretending to be student athletes. NBA scouts could gain easier access to scouting these players and watching them develope. So the NBA should focus on making the D league more appealing to the all american pro prospect high schoolers.

I think you need to go to college, learn to write a coherent post, then come back.
