I’ve brought up this conference a few times recently and have gotten little conversation going. So im curious what are your opinions on the conference.

Is the conference a 1 bid league this year?

Is California a lock at this point or do they have work to do in the conference tournament if they want an at-large bid?

How do you feel about Washington(21-9) and ASU(22-9) bubble chances?

Is Quincey Pondexter a first rounder?

They are a Big 6 conference so there is no way only one team is going. It looks like Cal and Wash are in, at least from most sites I have seen. They could have been helped out by Northern Iowa yesterday because they would have probably gotten an at large berth even if they lost the conference champ. game. That leaves an at large berth up for grabs.

I haven’t seen Pondexter play all that much so I can’t comment on his draft status.

i think cal is a lock imo. They finished the season strong winning key games against both washington and ASU. They have an rpi of 19 and sos of 7. Pac 10 champions with those numbers should be in regardless of how down the conference is. The biggest argument against them is they went 0-4 in big non conference matchups. But when those teams are Kansas(best in big 12), Syracuse(best in big east), Ohio State(best in big 10) and New Mexico(best mid major) and they were without theo robertson for 3 of those games, i can’t see those losses being a reason to keep a team out of the tournament.

Washington and ASU both need to win in the conference tournament if they want to feel good on selection sunday. But Washington does have 2 quality wins in cal and texas AM. Plus they are talented and finished the year strong winning 3 straight road games. They just had a real tough stretch to start conference play and i think they should be in when it is all said and done.

The conference was the weakest of all the major conferences. And worse than a few mid-major conferences as well. Both Cal and Washington were preseason top 25 teams, and neither of them are there now. They have no nationally ranked team and haven’t for a while. Cal is the only team I would say is really a tourny team, even though

Washington is close, but they’re more NIT worthy than anything. They can’t win away from home and they’re most impressive win was against Texas A&M, AKA not that impressive a win. Also, they have lost to way more unimpressive teams then they have “impressive” teams. They have to reach at least the finals in the conference, but I don’t know if they’ll do it.

Arizona State is NIT worthy as well. Nothing about them other than Abbott and sometimes Glasser is overly impressive about them.

Pondexter is a guy I’d take in the 20’s. He’s really improved since last year, when he was mostly an athletic tweener. Now he can shoot it better and he has lockdown defender potential.

one thing working in favor for either ASU or Washington getting in, is that they would face each other in the second round if they were both to win their first game. If they play each other in the second round, the winner of that game would advance to the conferene title game and earn a big win. You could say that the potential game between those 2 would result in one of those teams locking up an at large bid.

according to espn, ASU is one of the last 4 in and Washington is one of the first 4 out. Yahoo has it flipped flopped with ASU just out and Wash just in. I think they could be playing for a spot in the tournament if they meet in the second round.

    No.

Is California a lock at this point or do they have work to do in the conference tournament if they want an at-large bid?

Losing its first-round game would cause unnecessary tension, but Cal is pretty much a lock.

How do you feel about Washington(21-9) and ASU(22-9) bubble chances?

One of these teams should make the Pac-10 championship game, and in that case, that team is clearly in. A quarterfinals win could potentially be enough, though, depending on how weak the bubble is this year. So far, it looks to be one of the weakest ever.

Is Quincey Pondexter a first rounder?

I still don’t like him, but I see the hype around him and think he could definitely slip into the end of the round.
