BasterdInABasketParticipantI can’t wait to see some of these matchups in this region… Were looking at potential matchups of Marquette-Murray State vs the Florida-Missouri winner and Louisville-Memphis. Not that I expect any upsets from them but, Iona and Brooklyn, 1st and 3rd respectively in scoring, are there too. Should be a lot of fun to watch, high scoring games. But in the end Michigan State will probably say screw all that running and slug their way into Final Four as it usually does.
Thoughts on what will go down in the west?

NotHamedHaddadiParticipantI don’t really see any upsets happening here until the elite eight. I’m very conflicted on the Murray state and marquette matchup because I think it can go either way but I think marquette wins that matchup but then loses to Missouri. Elite eight matchup is Missouri vs Michigan st. And I have Missouri winning because their guards are too much and Ricardo ratcliff will slow down Draymond Green.

aamir543ParticipantDamn selection commitee made it so tough. Murray St. could go out in round one, and then they could make a run to the elite 8 and even further. Even the play-in ones are tough, because the 5 seeds aren’t that great this season, and some of the play-in teams can make a little run.

cuseflynn10ParticipantCall me crazy, but I think Florida could make a run. They played better than Kentucky for most of yesterday’s game, but ended with a loss. Who’s to say Florida won’t play tough against Virginia and Missouri. Depending on which Florida team shows up, I think they could get to the Elite 8, maybe even further, but could also get bounced early against Mike Scott’s Cavaliers, or Marcus Denmon’s Tigers.

ChrisCrossParticipantI think Florida has a good shot at going to the elite 8, Davidson, Long Beach St could win 1st round. I could see Memphis and New Mexico making a run to the elite 8 and maybe final 4.

R-Dot-13ParticipantI love Long Beach this year.. Also the Murray St seeding is pure bull… give the guys a little credit.
I see Missouri in the final 4.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantLong Beach State in the sweet sixteen. They gave Carolina a run for their money in Chapel Hill. Casper Ware is a baller. I am not impressed by Michigan State at all. I think Missouri takes the region.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantFlorida was completely mis-seeded as a 7 and I think they definitely beat Missouri even though they’re a 2.
Mizzou has infinite heart but they have two fatal flaws in their lack of size and lack of depth.
Florida is short on strong wins but have an excellent blend of shooting ability (Beal, Boynton, Walker, and Murphy) and athleticism (Beal and Patty Young).
They are built to make a deep run. I have them losing to The Ville in the Elite 8.
I don’t get why people are creaming themselves over Murray State.
They played no one outside of Memphis and St. Mary’s (and even those two teams aren’t anything special).
Murray State is seriously lacking in the post (237th in rebounding). It isn’t a coincidence that Memphis and St. Mary’s, too, have nothing down low.
Once Murray runs into a real team that can bang they’re gonna get their salad tossed.

ChrisCrossParticipantReally can’t see Louisville going to final 4 much, I think they’ll struggle with winning a game. Siva might be one of the worse pg’s, dude is a living turnover, very inconsistent shooting, they don’t have a "go to guy" to get them a bucket when it counts, and when they do, they put it in Siva’s hand, which isn’t a good thing. Living in Louisville, I’ve seen this team plenty, they are one of the most up and down teams and and are a perfect team to loose 1st rd, they lack the talent to make a final 4 run. They get by with great coaching from Patino and strong effort on defense. The fact they won the big east shows how down the conference was this year.
