Jared Jackson- went off!!! 8 for 13 on 3PTs, Finished with 29 points in his first game, dude played with a lot of confidence.

Trae Young-played against Memphis and he locked terrible, missing his first 10 shots and Kobi Simmions was giving him the business. Trae looked very nervous out there, I’m not giving up on him yet..Finished with 16pts, 4-20 shooting and 1-11 behind the Arc.

Marvin Bagley-Got his first NBA poster…he looked NBA ready, very confident, ran the floor and played the whole game with a high motor, he’s going to be special. 18pts, 6 rebs, 3 blocks

Harry Giles-Finally get to see him play! Played with a lot of energy as well, looked rusty but you can tell he’s hungry, a player to watch this summer league 13pts.

De’Aron Fox-Did a good job going to the paint and also getting his bigs involved. If he plays the whole summer league wouldn’t be surprised if the Kings win SL. Solid floor general first game, still need to work on the 3 ball. 23Pts, 8Rebs, 6 Ast, 3stl.

    Who did ya’ll see?

Jackson obviously won’t shoot that well every game, but it was an impressive debut for sure. I still maintain he can be the best overall player if he puts it all together. The skill package combined with his length and athleticism is very intriguing. You have to wonder if Memphis will start him out of the gate at pf or bring him along more slowly. I definitely think his more natural position will be center but Gasol is still on the roster.

It’s not generally a good sign when your top overall draft pick looks physically overmatched against summer league competition but that was clearly the case with young yesterday. I’m not going to overreact to one game, but it could be a struggle for him to adapt to playing against nba athletes.

could be the best player in this draft and I’ve been saying it all year. A lot of skills that were marginalized playing in a great college system. The league is tailored to his game.

I like Mo Wagner he’ll be solid but mb3 was too much  ..Marvin Bagley 3 Nightmares all season ..also Jaren has an awkward shot but his fluidity for his size if he can keep even half of that up he’s a franchise player comp a bosh who can iso and score of the dribble

It’s not only just the SL but it was also only one game, but Young made some terrible decisions. Jacking up homerun 30 footers with over half the shot clock left is a bad shot when you’re on fire. Young couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat though, which makes it ten times worse. You gotta assume his coaches gave him the green light though, so hopefully he gets his land legs under him.

There’s something off about Young’s shot release that made me doubt even back in college his status as an "elite shooter". He has a very short weird hitch on his shot that makes a lot of his shots not look that good upon release.

That and he needs to stop taking contested 30 footers 5 seconds into the clock or he’ll lose that locker room. His bball IQ and decision making needs a lot of improvement but he’s still very young. He also seems like a coachable guy so I’m not all too down on him.

I was waiting to see how Derrick White would fare getting the keys to run the team in Summer League and I wasn’t dissapointed. I was very high on him during last year’s draft. He seems to have improved his decision-making, and his dribble pullup is wet as always. I expect him to see a lot of minutes next season with Dejounte as they complement each other very well. Lonnie Walker meanwhile I feel will be brought up slowly by the Spurs staff. He isn’t ready yet.

I’m really gonna like watching the Kings this year. Fox has put on weight while still maintaining his crazy athleticism so look for him to have a good year. Bagley’s gonna be putting up numbers and Giles actually looked less rusty than I thought he would

I said it on the other thread but I’ll say it again, Trae will be alright when he improves his shot selection. He needs to use the threat of him scoring to pass, instead of jacking up 30 footers. Obviously he’s similar to Steph in style of play, but I think he’d be better suited shooting less and passing more. He has really good vision and he actually had some nice strips on D around the rim so I think he’ll be fine. Coach just needs to keep him in check because it’ll be easy for him to feel like he can start blasting since they’re gonna be terrible

Did anyone see Lonnie Walker? I didn’t get to watch that game

Lonnie forced alot of  bad shots..went 3-16 shooting. Looked nervous so I wouldn’t put too much into it.

Also want to point out that even though Young has a zero inch vertical, he’s pretty damn quick and super crafty. He had some pretty nice passes and got into the lane surprisingly well.

He’s at least got a 30+ inch vertical considering he’s barely 6 feet with shoes.

Derrick White for San Antonio looks like he’s poised for a breakout season. Night and day difference betweeen his comfortabillity and overall play from last summer league to this one. He only played one season at Colorado after transferring from the lower levels, and has been consistently developing ever since. He’s playing the 1-3 and doesn’t seem to have any issues playing all three. I believe his offensive potency, and particularly his shooting, will compliment Dejounte Murrays raw athleticism quite well.

Mo Wagner impressed me. I thought the Lauri Markkannen comparisons were a bit contrived, but I can totally see it now. He’s a fluid athlete despite not being the most explosive, and has a feathery touch all the way out to NBA 3. His defense was also better than I had anticipated. He guarded Marvin Bagley, Harry Giles and Devin Williams of the Kings, and those are not easy or fun matchups, but he held his own – despite one facial.

Harry Giles finally got to see some NBA action and did not disappoint. He looked great physically/athletically and showed flashes of all the diverse skills/ability that made him such a revered prospect. And he and Bagley actually seemed to have a bit of chemistry and seemed to feed off of each others intensity. It was good to see.

Bagley played well offensively, scoring in the paint, running the floor and even hitting a three. On defense he actually showed more rim protecting ability than I had anticipated, but his on ball defense and defensive fundamentals were just attrocious. Mo Wagner was blowing by him off the dribble and he just looked like a fish out of water at times when he wasn’t able to just float around and block shots. I totally understand why Duke ran a zone last season.

Jaren Jackson Jr. was the star of the day and really blew me away. 8-13 from three and he was just as impressive on D. The hype around him was warranted and I can’t wait to see what he turns into. I don’t think he’s nearly as raw as some say and think that he’s going to hit the ground running in Memphis. He has legit 1-5 defensive potential and could probably play SF at some point in his career. He is a prototypical modern big.

Josh Hart really surprised me. I’m a Lakers fan and respected his grit, savvy and abillity to play in a system. But last night he was running the point, creating his own shot, setting up his teammates, guarding the other teams best player and really just showed why LA is so high on him. If he can turn into a point guard, my outlook on his future would drastically change. And outside of a two minute stretch where he had 3 flooky turnovers, I believe last night showed signs that it’s a legitimate possibility.

some teams will regret him. People forget how as a freshman he brought the team back with his hustle and grit. He has to contain his actions more this is a cupcake crying to ref league. Stuff he does is a tech/flagrant foul. 15-20yrs ago tough play

Jaren Jackson, Jr. was ON FIRE.  He hit some "Larry Bird going for 60 against the Atlanta Hawks in New Orleans" shots.

Some of the other bigs looked really good: Omari Spellman, Moritz Wagner, and Marvin Bagley III did their thing.  The Bag Man didn’t rebound as well (had 6) but he blocked a few shots.  I can see him being a solid weak-side shot blocker.

Trae Young didn’t look too good. I HATE his shot selection.  Some nifty passing, but, unless Jevon Carter is the next Alvin Robertson (and maybe he is!), I think Trae Young will have a ton of games where he really struggles.  If they had wanted to get a point guard, maybe they should have gone with Collin Sexton.

Didn’t watch him last night, but the Grizzlies will play Utah tonight so I am interested to see Grayson Allen.  Has a bit of Westbrook/Harden in his game.  More of a scorer than shooter… I want to see if he can defend.

He could turn into a solid pick for Utah, but I am not sure how Salt Lake City’s finest law firm of Donovan Mitchell Grayson Allen coexist.  Unless, I guess, you play DM at the 1.  The Mormon version of Batman and Robin.

The Las Vegas summer league is gonna have some EPIC matchups.

Could be more fun that the regular season!  I think the Warriors take it all (SPOILER ALERT).
