sweaterflexParticipantDwyane Wade, Isiah Thomas, and Anthony Davis would disagree.

Robb_CParticipantAnyone who was around the Chicago Basketball Scene during Roses Early HS years knew how mythical of a prospect he was.. Frank Rusnak a local writer in Chicago, Ran a website called Highschoolelite.com and typically ranked freshman that played Varsity only.. Now Rose was the best player in the Freshman class but wasnt ranked due to the fact Coach Hambric refused to play freshmen on Varsity.. I cant remember a prospect like Rose that took over games in Chicago.. Nobody could guard him, he was really that good..
Yes, He was the best prospect to come out of Chicago in recent memory (D-Wade was a late bloomer)
Most people heard of Rose and heard stories about how great he was but nobody actually saw him play due to the fact he was held back.. Now I vividly remember one of the first AAU tournaments after his freshman season.. Derrick Rose played with Ferrari in the 15U and the buzz around this kid was unbelievable.. From this point forward he was ranked the best player and prospect in Illinois..
Jabari Parker is the most decorated Ball player in recent memory, he won 4 state titles which was incredible granted the talent in Chicago..

ChewyParticipantRose has to be up there. I can’t think of a single player I’d forsure rank ahead of him.
Ronnie Fields- Freak athlete, dominated HS. Car crash ruined his playing career.
Benji Wilson- The original Simeon #25. There was a great documentary on him released a while ago.
Eddy Curry- Any player who can go straight to the NBA from HS and average 19 a game in any season while having ZERO work ethic shows his talent level was off the charts.
Tim Hardaway- I have no idea how he was as a prospect. I’m puting him on here because of his successful NBA career.
Jabari Parker- Already mentioned. Rightfully so.
Anthony Davis- Already mentioned. Rightfully so.
Dwyane Wade-Already menrioned. Rightfully so,
Isiah Thomas- Already mentioned. Rightfully so.
Jon Sheyer- He had an amazing 4 year varsity career. The ridiculous 27 points in 2 minutes or something like that (in the Provo West Tourney right?)
Jahlil Okafor- A lot of people on here don’t like him in today’s NBA game. I still LOVE him as an NBA player. He won almost everything you could win at the HS and AAU level.
Jamarcus Ellis- This was is a reach, but I thought he would dominate the Big 10 by his Junior year and have a healthy NBA career. He wasn’t the prospect Rose was, but I wanted to give a shout out.
Kevin Garnett- Yes, he only played in Chicago for one year. Yes, I also agree he shouldn’t count for this list.

NJHooper95ParticipantIsiah is the clear cut favorite because of his HS, college and NBA success. Also he is the favorite because of his skill set and talent. Rose had a chance to challenge Isiah for that spot but nevertheless he has to be mentioned as top 5 out of the Windy City if we are strictly going off his talent and game. His talent level was as good as player from chi. So accolades and accomplishments aside I have him right behind Isiah.

dazeoneParticipantFrom back in the day #1 pick in 81 to Dallas..went to Depaul…childhood friend of Isiah 2x champ with the Bad boys and 3x Allstar….
I like Benji Wilson as well

NJHooper95ParticipantYou can’t go wrong as Chicago has had many a great talents. Benji was the good but we only saw him in High School back in the 80’s. I will say this for Rose, that by his MVP season you can make a case for him being the third best player in the league behind Lebron and. Durant. I say that to say at that time if there was a draft of players it was have been hard to take anyone before rose others than Lebron and Durant. Rose was feared and almost unstoppable especially going to the rim with world class athleticism.
So my question is, is there any player from Chicago Outside of Isiah that had a argument for top 3 player in the league at anytime. I don’t count Garnett as he is not a product of Chicago. I mean not even sure if we could say that about Wade.

ThepessimestParticipantNo disrespect to any of the other players mentioned but this has to be Isiah Thomas.
I believe we associate greatness with athleticism and the wow factor. Derrick Rose the mini sized ball of explosion had a great run of success winning the MVP award. But there was never a time when I watched him and though that he is better than Isiah Thomas.
Isiah had something in him man. I know his Bad Boy reputation and executive reputation causes some to dismiss his greatness but Isiah was special.
And he was special in the biggest of moments vs. some of the greatest to ever play.
The handle, the jump shot, the ability to set up others, the defensive ability, and ability to rise in the biggest moments.
So I respect Wade, I respect Rose, Parker, Antoine Walker, Ronnie Fields, etc. etc. etc. etc.
But Isiah Thomas is that dude…to me at least.
I would say Wade is a close 2nd. Just my take.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantAnyone know what Frank Williams is doing nowadays? Not sure if I’d say he was one of the best to come out of chicago but great high school and college career, even though he was kind of a bust in the NBA. Last I heard he ran into some legal problems once his career was over.
