high floorParticipantAs my believer non-believer saga continues on nbadraft.net, I’d like to post a topic about Victor Oladipo and his bid for an All Star roster spot this upcoming season. Oladipo is one of my favorite players in the league, so I’ll try to be as objective as possible in assessing his chances. His positive attributes are becoming well known (freak athlete, killer work ethic, improved court awareness, defensive animal). And although his improvement on the stat sheet hasn’t translated to team wins yet, this year should be different:
- Averaged 17.9pts, 4.2rebs, 4.1assists, 1.7stls, 82% FT overall
- Season high 38pts versus Phoenix on March 4th
- 15 games with 3+ steals
- Averaged 21pts, 4.5rebs, 5assists, 2stl, .6blks, 1.3 treys after the AS break
His biggest competition at SG will be Jimmy Butler, Demar Derozen, Bradley Beal, Dwyane Wade, and perhaps Monta Ellis, Khris Middleton and Kyle Korver. That’s fairly crowded so a definitive leap in his numbers, a team record close to .500, and health will be the deciding factor as to whether or not he gets the nod. Also I love the Scott Skiles hire for Oladipo as well. I think his no nonsense, defense first approach should really catapult Victor Oladipo into an elite 2 way player.

chall23ParticipantIt all depends on orlandos record, if they start winning I think he has a very good shot at making it. Especially because he’s known as a two-way player.

kobyzParticipantMaybe he will get in but not sure it will be a worthy selection, maybe more an empty stats guy with show style selection, cause right now i think his game not so much brings impact for his team like the numbers suggest, need to change his mold as a player to more mature basketball mold that being stable and fit well along side the others…

ChicagoCaseyParticipantIf the Magic actually win some games next year maybe, but I have Bradley Beal breaking out and becoming an all star next year.
I have John Wall, Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Demar Derozan, Bradley Beal, and Derrick Rose.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantScoring a bunch of points and having a great dunk in a "pick up’ games doesn’t equal an All Star. Not just yet, if homeboy can hit the mid-range jumper and help his team into the late rounds of the playoffs, then yes!

Reptilian MonkParticipantHe is a very good young player but still a few years out of legit All-Star. Orlando has a good nucleus with Oladipo, Payton, Gordon, Vucevic, Hezonja they will pretty soon be a legit team in the playoffs and Oladipo could find himself the best player on that team and All star.

Greek-Balleryou think Rose will be an All star.. All I can do is laugh at this point and come back to you on this next year, but it’s a pathetic prediction, people should understand he’s just a injury prone high volume shooter with a low FG %.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantIf that’s a "pathetic" prediction than Oladipo going to be an all star while his team is still one of the worse in the eastern conference is also "pathetic".
Yes, I do believe Derrick Rose will be an all star in the east next year because I believe the Bulls will have a good record, he will put up better stats than he did the past year, he will be healthy (I don’t predict injuries), and the way he played in the postseason.

whiteflashParticipantOladipo kind of reminds me of a new age [more perimeter oriented, less post-ups] young Sprewell. Really like his game, and depending on how they use Henzoja I could see him going 20/5/4 this year. Kid can play.
