As most of us know the Jazz have the Knicks lottery pick this year. The last lottery pick the Jazz had was the number 3 pick in 2005. They took Deron Williams who is in my opinion the best pg in the league. (Cris Paul 1B) This year they will most likely have the 9th pick. If we get a lucky bounce and moved up Derrick Favors, Wesley Johnson, Greg Monroe, or DeMarcus Cousins would all be great. If they stay at 9 maybe Pat Patterson, Ed Davis, or ever James Anderson.Taking into account Boozer will be gone in all likely hood who would be a good fit?

If the Kings get in top 3 call them…Swap picks, send Boozer and Take back Nocioni and Thompson…You might get Turner and the Kings would settle for Boozer and Henry/Aminu with the Knicks pick…If the Kings dont get # 1 pick they would trade top 5 pick for all star…and Kings have money to get Boozer a big deal and good chance to help lead team …

First off welcome to the site. Refer to OJJ’s welcoming post for any questions.

I think the Jazz should look to trade down. Where they are now (pre-lotto 9th spot), I think the best prospects that most teams would look for at 9 are going to be PFs. While Boozer’s future is in question, I think they should avoid going PF early (they have millsap as well) and instead look to trade down and maybe pick up some more picks or role players and then look to add a guy like Paul George, Damion James, Xavier Henry, Larry Sanders, James Anderson, etc. This draft is plenty deep, and after the first 2 tiers of players, I think the 3rd tier is very very deep.

Trading up is a possibility as well, but I think that could be rather costly. If Aminu or Johnson would fall to 9 or start to slip somehow, I would def take them though.

I would take either Aminu or Ed Davis. AK 47 only has this year left. That gives the jazz the options to bring a this players at a slower pace, as they won’t have to start the rookie right away. Then once AK 47 leaves they have his replacement lined up and ready to go. A big man doesn’t make sense because they have Milsap and Okur. I wouldn’t waste a lottery pick on a bench player to back up one of these guys. Pick somebody up later in the draft. The GM has shown a great ability to evaluate talent in those later picks. They seem to love Wes Matthews too, so it doesnt make much since to draft a SG. That leaves the SF. Take Aminu if he is available and Davis if he isnt.

I like Aminu too but i dont think hes going to fall to 9. If we make a trade mybe sign and trade boozer we could move up and land Wesley Johnson. With this athleticism he would fit in great with D Will

Im from Toronto and I know that if we can pull that one off grab some good young talent, rebuild, get a Top 5 pick next year, and clear some cap space this Franchise will be better off than if we resigned Bosh.

And i’m from Salt Lake. I would be happy to see that trade go down. B easy is a nice player and would actually get a chance to shoot the ball in Utah with no Dwayne Wade. And Miami would love to get Bosh and Wade together. But take away bosh from the raptors and its not gonna be pretty next year for them.

I hope it is a pretty year…PRETTY UGLY LOL.I’m not your average fan thou I’d rather see the Raptors come in dead last 2 years straight than see them come in 8th 2 years straight.I can wait because I understand you have to build through the Draft and thats what they should be doing right now.

Beasley has attitude problems. Utah does not want guys like that. Miami tried to get Booz in the offseason last year by sending for sure Haslem, as for Beasley they might have been willing to send him but either way Utah did not accept. I believe it was because of his attitude problems. To prove my point, Pat Riley had problems drafting him and if the 2008 draft would have been redone, he would have picked OJ Mayo hands down. If Pat Riley has problems then so will Jerry Sloan. Its not that D-wade will not be there, its Beasley himself is he willing to tone it down and play well alongside Dwill. I say no. Sorry Toronto and Miami but we are not taking Beasley. Oh and by the way Booz aint leaving. (refer to my earlier post, “Jazz Needs?” for more info)

As for the 9th pick I am open to trading up or down. Up to get Wes Johnson or Evan Turner. (loving that Sac-town deal) Down to get Paul George (But i would not trade too far down, maybe just out of the lottery, you do not want to end up getting top 20 pick when you could have gotten a top 10 pick) But if utah ends up staying with the 9th pick, I would pick either Aminu or Cole Aldrich. I agree, AK47 only has a year or 2 left. We need to get a replacement for him soon before he is gone. Aminu would be great and he could go #9. We also need a big. We have none. We got ousted by the Lakers because we could not defend their bigs. Millsap is not a big(only 6’8), Okur plays lousy defense and so does Booz. AK and Millsap are our true defending “big” men and yet the biggest one AK at just 6’10. We need more. Aldrich is 7’0 without shoes! He can block shots and has a nice offensive game. Yes his shot is a little awkward but it works. So If we stand pat, then we need to draft Aminu or Aldrich. Up=Johnson or Turner, Down=George

It will be interesting to see what the jazz do with the pick. It’s not every year where we see a good team picking in the lottery. My question is how did Utah get the pick? What did the Knicks get in return? I don’t remember a Jazz player being traded to the NYK.

They got the pick from phoenix a few years ago. The jazz traded Keon Clark and a couple other no name players. Isaiah traded the pick to Phoenix i believe in the marbury deal.

I am really falling in love with paul georges game. We could throw him in as a second string sf or d league and get a perfect wing for d-will and mathews to run with in a few years when ak is gone.

But i THink we try to get turner by ditchin any/combo of Okur/Boozer/AK

Turner and Williams would be quite the duo

He is the biggest ball hog out there. He led the league in the least number of passes, he jacked more than anyone. He’d just ride the pine with Sloan. No way the jazz go for that. The jazz need to go big in the draft unless they get lucky and could get turner.

Hopefully we can make a trade to move up and get Turner or Johnson. A K has a 16 million dollar contract that will be in its final year memo also will be in his final year teams are always interested in big expiring contracts. Boozer is out of salt lake for sure. witch isn’t all but because that gives the well deserving Paul Millsap starter minutes. He’s undersized but if u seen him in college u know he can board and has shown he can be a bored line all star at least be a solid18 and 9. D Will needs a legit scorer on the wing otherwise he could leave Utah also.

First of all Boozer is a FA so the JAzz can’t trade him. Second of all that is a terrible trade for the Kings.

The draft is deep at PF, stay put and draft one at the #9 spot or wherever they are to replace Boozer. That’s what most likely will happen. Not some ridiculous trade or some whacky idea let’s be reasonable here guys…

After what the Lakers did to the Jazz, I think it should be obvious that the Jazz need some BIG MEN. A guy like Carlos Boozer did fine statistically against the Lakers, but if anyone watched that game, they would have seen that the Jazz’s frontcourt could not keep up defensively whatsoever.

I would love to see them get lucky in the lottery and move up to 4 or something because then they could get a guy like D. Cousins who would work great on their team. D. Cousins has the size that could POTENTIALLY be effective against against a team like the Lakers. Honestly, in order for the Jazz to have a chance in the western playoffs for the next 2-3 years, they need to tailor their team to beat the Lakers.

I think Utah should trade down and go for Xavier Henry.
He could be Utah’s missing piece, since their only shooters were Okur and Korver.

But I also agree with Steroid.
If Boozer leaves they will become thin up front, assuming Okur will now after his injury play outside even more.
So they probably could work out a deal to move up and draft a potentially good big.

THEY SHOULD DO AS YOU SAID IF YOU CAN BEAT THE LAKERS{THE CHAMPS} YOU CAN BEAT ANY TEAM HOW ABOUT BOOZER SIGN AND TRADE FOR KEVIN MARTIAN IF HOU CANT GET BOSH YAO WILL TAKE AWAY BOOZERS SIZE SO TEAMS WONT HURT THEM ON THE BOARDS OR IN THE PAINT AND NOW BOOZER KNOWS HE IS PLAYING WITH A SHOT BLOCKER FINALLY HE HAS HELP

AND SINCE THEY MISSED OUT ON BOSH JOE JOHNSON CAN BE THE FREE AGENT THEY ADD

JAZZ GETS THERE SHOOTER/SCORERE AND UNLIKE BROOKS ..DERON RUNS EVERYTHING THE SYSTEM AND HE CHOICES WHO GETS THE BALL THEN THEY CAN ALSO GET THERE BIG IN THE DRAFT

    WIN WIN

Let booz go. we wont have to money to resign him anyway. millsap has shown he can replace him and has a much smaller contract. Draft the best player they can get either 9th or if we can some how move up. I think it should be a Center or SF because okur and ak are getting old and are to injury prone. And okur does want to be a “real center” anyway. We dont really need a pf because we have millsap whos undersized but very effective. Al-Farouq Aminu or Cole Aldrich would be the best realistic pick for us.
