PulseGlazerParticipantMemphis was in competition this year with a big who could play defense, a big who was a load on defense, 2 really athletic wing defenders who played a physical style, and a speed point guard who came into their own.
The Jazz currently have a big who can potentially play serious defense when developed (and he has to be developed extremely carefully) with Favors, and a big who’s a load in the post in Jefferson. With the 12 they could get someone like Singleton – the versatile, physical defender to set the tone on the wing. Hayward is a good glue peice who can D on the wing with good size and spread the floor. All they really need is to do is develop the point guard for the future. That’s why they won’t take Kanter or Jonas. Kemba or, more likely, Knight will be the pick, as Utah follows the Memphis model. Or at least that seems to be the way they’re currently put together. Make sense?

bigblackNbeautifulParticipantthe reason utah will never be the next memphis is their bigs. Im sorry but Al is no Randolph. Randolph is a player you can run your offense efficientlly through, since he is a highly skilled passer. Also Marc Gasol is a NBA center. Favors is not. Al is not. This is why I feel the smart thing to do is its looking like Dwill and Kyrie are going to be gone at 3. Take the best euro big guy and worry about pg next year when there are no bigs that can be taken. We will prob have two lotto picks next year which will give us a shot at a pg. But there is no center next year. At all. You never can have to many quality bigs. But guards can be found and plugged in alot easier.

Awesome-O-420Participant" Randolph is a player you can run your offense efficientlly through, since he is a highly skilled passer."
Is that a joke? I mean I know the guy has worked on his passing and has made strides, but the guy started out as a "black hole". I haven’t heard the black hole reference to him that much this past year, but…nobody should call him a "highly skilled passer", let alone a "passer". He’s improved thats all you can give him.

GottaFeedTheFamParticipantFirst of all their are a lot of similarities between Z-Bo and Big Al, but Jefferson is not on the same level as Z-Bo offensively and especially on D, so that comparsion is kinda weak. Z-Bo is the best offensive post player in the game in my opinion and no one could make that case for Big Al. @Awesome-O-420 Z-Bo has improved his passing his last 2 years in memphis and has legit passing skills, sometimes when hes really feeling it he makes baller ass Sabonis like passes (not an every game thing though).

Scottoant93ParticipantUtah got a good deal from nj, They have an sky high potential player in favors, plus additional picks, along with devin harris(more of just a throw in then actually an impact player). I feel they will be in contention this upcoming season, maybe borderline playoffs. Wait 2,3 years they will be good again, if they get a pg in the draft(knight, kemba). you can expect the new jazz to be more athletic then past teams
@gottafeedthefam LMAO at your name, I was talking to my bro in law about latrell complaining he has to feed his kids the other day haha

PulseGlazerParticipantFavors is far younger than Gasol. Al is younger than Randolph and, remember, only a bit over a year ago, Randolph was a pariah no one would touch. It’s called development. You develop the players to fit the mold. They’re already part of the way there. And Al is as good on D as Randolph right now. Randolph looks a lot better because of Marc. Al will one day look much better due to Favors.
