Good team on paper, but getting old now for a lot of them:

     LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers
    Steph Curry, Golden State Warriors
    Kevin Durant, Phoenix Suns
    Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics
    Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers
    Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers
    Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns
    Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana Pacers
    Bam Adebayo, Miami Heat
    Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves
    Jrue Holiday, Boston Celtics
    Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers

Good roster as always Jrue has had a quieter season but is an elite defensive guy so no worries with his spot. Tatum, Bam, Booker, Edwards, Haliburton should still be locks for 2028 plus possibly Embeast and AD. You’ve got enough good younger players coming through to refresh the roster. Plus 2028 Games is in LA so would be far more attractive to a lot of players than going halfway around the world.

The Dream Team will start looking towards the LA Games and have the 2027 Worlds in Qatar as a building block. Grant Hill or whoever is overseeing Team USA can guarantee a strong team for the Worlds by merely saying anyone who won’t go to worlds won’t be considered for the Olympics.

The best team USA can assemble, but still they will have to work a little bit to win the gold. It’s not gonna be like in 1992.

But what will be after this Olympics? Will USA have the best team? On paper USA had the best team and the best coaching staff in the last World Cup, but wasn’t able to won the medal.

The best team doesn’t always win. The best players on the court aren’t always the best cohesive team. In this case, I don’t think the USA Olympic roster is the most cohesive team. And the talent level of France is looking pretty stellar right now amongst a few others. It’s going to be competitive in the Olympics for sure. Nobody has the talent that team USA will have, but we’ll see who ends up winning this time around…

I agree the French team could be very good in the next few years with Wemby leading an elite crop of young players. They will probably need another couple of this crop to reach all star level to give Wemby the support he’ll need. But if the current team can still provide a few players then the mix will be good.
