basedSERBParticipanthow good do you guys think illinois will be this year? i think they have the talent to get to the final 4. take a look at all the players they have that have nba potential:
PG-Demetri McCamey
SG-D.J. Richardson, Brandon Paul
SF-Jereme Richmond(maybe starter,)
PF-Mike Davis
C-Mike Tisdale, Meyers Leonard0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/11/2010 - 8:11am #410984

RUDEBOY_ParticipantIllinois seems like 1 of those sleeper teams they everyone says could make the Final,But nobody really believes they will…They’re very deep and have a seasoned point guard in McCamey,,
Plus they’re main core of players have been together for a while…

hiphopismylifeParticipantI agree. They are being overlooked since they didnt make the field last year but they could be very, very good if Demetri McCamey is a leader. In McCamey they have a pure point guard with great experience; three very athletic guys on the wing in Paul, Richmond, and Richardson; a long and athletic big with Mike Davis; and a sturdy big who can shoot in Mike Tisdale. They are very battle tested and should have great chemistry.

Mr. 19134ParticipantHere’s a prediction:
a few games above .500 and a disapointing season from their seasoned PG Meechy.
No seriously they are playing in a very tough conference with Purdue, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin all being better teams. You can argue Ohio State but I don’t think you can argue Michigan State, or Purdue. I really like Purdue out of this conference with Moore, Hummell, and Johnson I think they have 3 players better then anybody on Illinois depending on how good you think Meechy is.

JNixonParticipantIllinois has the look of an Elite 8 team next year. McCamey is a top 5 PG who can score and set up teammates, Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale can stretch the floor and are nice face-up players, D.J. Richardson and Brandon Paul are solid wings who are well-rounded (Richardson) and can get on explosive scoring runs (Paul), and then they added Jereme Richmond who is an athletic guy with big-time length which will help him defend about 4 positions legitimately as a Fr. And Meyers Leonard will be in the rotation as an athletic 7′ 225 PF/C who has soft touch. not to mention Crandall Head who will factor some as a Fr. They have depth, a good young talent infusion, and veteran players who have played together for a long time. They are poised to be a top 10 team next year and they should have a nice tourny run.

tigers04ParticipantI don’t buy purdue..granted they always have injuries..but in every starting position they are undersized compared to most of the elite teams. And I believe when it comes to tournament time more times than not size wins so I personally think illinios is a better team than purdue. I just think size matter lol no homo

joecheck88Participantsize isnt as important in college as the pros. illinois with dee brown, luther head and deron williams was a crazy good team and their bigs werent huge. its guard play in college. granted you have to matchup with some size but you can get away with a 6 7 power forward and 6 9 center with good guards. i like purdue this year. i thinks thats the final 4 team in that conference.

tigers04ParticipantYeah but u just named 3 guards that played in the nba,2 first round picks which 1 was a top 5 pick so I think that purdues back court isn’t nearly as good as that illini team was

joecheck88Participantya, illinois guards were pretty good(actually great for college). but i think if purdue can replace their pg from last year(kramer i think) they are gonna be a very tough out. and villanova works against my argument too(reynolds, fisher, wayans) because they didnt do much last year in the tourney. my point really was that size isnt as important in college. butler wasnt very big and they made it to the final game.

ChewyParticipantWisconsin is better than Illinois this year. Purdue and MSU are better and against Ohio State can go eithier way.
Everyone is mentioning Illinois because they are that good. They have depth, experience and talent at every position.

tigers04ParticipantTrue..I get ur point and it make sense..I for some reason have just never been sold on purdue.
