I went to their exhibition the other night and they looked real good. This program is on the way back to being relevant with their recent recruiting classes. Nothing spectacular but solid. I saw them a couple years ago with Aubrey Coleman and their play was terrible. This team is fun to watch. Now they did play a D3 school(Concordia from Austin, TX) but they were still very fun to watch. This is a young team and I am really excited about these young guys and the guys coming next year(House & Knowles ramked 15th and 47th I believe on ESPN). Here are some players to watch out for(maybe not NBA but good college players that are going to help this team:

Joseph Young: He was ranked around 98 by ESPN in the 2010 class but redshirted his freshman year. I have seen him practice and play this exhibition. He is fast and can shoot the lights out. Seems very confident. We are cnverting him to PG where he hasnt played before(except for last year in practice only). He will make some mistakes but seems very promising. He was part of those Yates HS(Houston, TX) that were destroying everyone they played.

Tyshawn Thomas: Ranked around 92 by ESPN in the 2011 class. 6’8" PF, with some length and decent athleticism. Should be a good shotblocker and low post scorer for the next 4 years.

Alandise Harris- A sophomore from Louisiana. This guy excites me as a player. Has a pro body at 6’6" and 230lbs. A tenacious defender. Holding him back from a pro career will be his offense. His shot is ugly and inconsistent. Ball handling would need improvement. He reminds me of Ron Artest with less scoring(even less than current Ron Artest. lol)

They have several other young players like JJ Thompson & Leron Barnes who should be good rotation players for 4 years.

2nd year coach at UH, James Dickey(coached Texas Tech for about 10 years in the 90’s), along with assistant Ulric Maligi(dont know if I spelled it right. lol) are building a solid program. Word is Maligi is an excellent recruiter and deserves alot of credit for our recent recruiting classes.

In conclusion, it would seem that UH should be making some NCAA tournaments in the next few years. They should put together some 20 win seasons and with them going to the Big East should continue to bring in good players. Working here at UH, I am excited that the program is back on track.

And if anyone(cough..JNixon…cough. lol) can give anymore info on some of these players or future players, that would be appreciated.

Alandise Harris is from Little Rock, Arkansas but everything you said about him is the truth!  Hopefully he put in work this summer to improve his game!

My bad. thanks for correcting me. 🙂 He looks like a monster. He practices hard. His shot is most concerning. His free throws looked Ben Wallace-esque. lol. He did dunk on some dude nasty on Tuesday. He is my favorite player on the team. I think he could play in the league if he can make his jumper servicable.

Joe Young has alot of upside as a scorer. I’ve seen him play in HS, and yeah. He’s quick and a good shooter like you said, and that is a tough cover no matter what league you play for.

I just do maintenance here. I get overtime to sit at football & basketball games in case they have plumbing problems. So nothing special. lol.

Yeah, Joe Young hit about 5 3s in the exhibition scoring a total of about 28. He is playing almost exclusively at point guard, so hopefully he develops quickly.
