I watched a couple of highlights and long stretchs of 3 games that they played recently and there is a kid named Trey Lyes (Indiana recruit) who is killing players out there. Wiggins is playing well but the leader has been the Trey kid. Hes easily getting about 13 rebounds if not more and putting up 16ppg (so the announcer said). He has very nice skills in the post and a very high basketball IQ. I had never heard of him untill last week. Has anyone ever seen him play?  He’s only a rising Jr

he’s an IU 2014 commit…most sites have him as a top 10 player in the ’14 class….i think one parent is from Canada and the other is from the US,so he has duel citizenship

really advanced game for his age and he’s gonna make a similar impact to what Cody Zeller did this last year

Wiggins does what it takes for team to win he doesn’t feel like he has to dominate everytime out. He is about winning and his team is doing that. Trust me if they need him to put in dominant performance he will.

It’s seems that competition level is pretty low and Wiggins certainly doesn’t look very interested in playing. Still, he does this

I understand that he doesn’t need to play full power, as I said the competition is low except for USA and Canada. But I looked longer videos of him playing in this tournament and he looked extremely passive that’s kinda okey on offense because it lets others to show what they can, but I would like to see him trying shut down opponents defensively which wasn’t the case, he wasn’t doing it either and that’s what I didn’t like if you want to be good you have to be competitive everytime you are on the court and I didn’t see that from him.

That is, when he feels the competition is not at his level. My guess is that this is the case. He scored 19 against Argentina, which lead the way for Canada in there close 76-68 victory (Trey Lyles chipped in with 16 and 12). The thing is, most of there games have been absolute blow outs. Even watching Andrew at practice, it was almost like it was too easy for him.

Right now, Trey is averaging a very impressive 16.7 ppg and 15.7 rpg. Given that Canada has a MAJOR drop off at big after Trey, it is hard to be surprised he is doing well as the main post threat. Andrew is averaging 15 and 6.7, which seems to be all he has had to do.

My guess: look for Wiggins to explode against the United States. Lyles will have to go up against absolute beasts who are older and more developed than he is. Jarnell Stokes, Shaq Goodwin and Julius Randle should be a big time challenge for him. Andrew, on the other hand, is on a different level athletically than anyone on the United States U18 team.

To me, this was the challenge that brought Andrew onto this team. Both he and Trey Lyles could be playing U17, but they wanted to play against the older kids. Lyles is a great prospect, one of the top in his class as well, just do not let 3 games make one think that Andrew Wiggins is not the man for Team Canada.

I think its even better that the Lyes kid is doing that with no other post options because that means the defense can focus strickly on him. When you have another post option you don’t have to worry as much aboyt doubles and help defense because they won’t be as likely to leave the other big who is a threat.

As far as Wiggins his knock has always been being passive sometimes and not putting his all on defense. This is what will probably keep him (potentially) from being a Kobe or Jordan while end up being a Tmac Which isn’t bad at all). Some people have that killer instinct and some don’t

I feel that Trey has been able to individually dominate the paint due to other teams also lacking post performers. Plus, Andrew has really been there other post player and seemed to be doing very well. I think the "killer instinct" argument is incredibly premature. He is still 17 years old and seems to be doing a great job winning. He was the leader of a Hoop Summit team that upset some of the top 2012 HS Players in the nation.

To say he is going to be Tracy McGrady rather than Kobe or Jordan. Not scoring huge numbers in this competition does not necessarily limit who you are. Andrew has been fantastic in the Nike EYBL, while Trey has been the secondary performer on his team. Trey is obviously a fantastic prospect, but Aaron Gordon outscored Jabari Parker at the U16 level last year, while people still were convinced Parker was the better prospect of the two. We will see what happens, I just really do not think that Wiggins needs to be classified as not having "killer instinct" right now.

Those things are shown at that age though. How many players who were upcoming Sr’s (Wiggins age is that of a upcoming Sr) change that intangable of a killer instinct or low motor? Drummond,Perry Jones? It’s not impossible just not highly likely. Even without it he has the potential to be a All American in college and a All Star in teh NBA. mIt would be different if i said something like he won’t get better or his jumper won’t get better. Certain guy’s, even at a young age, just want to tear you’re heart out even if you aren’t as good.

They don’t take plays off. A prime example is Shabazz. Wiggins is more taletned than he was or is at the same stage or now but Shabazz had that killer in him even when i saw him as a 16 year old. It maybe that Wiggins is so talented that he can turn it on and off which is a gift and a curse. There were some games in the EYBL that he turned it on and off as well. Again the case can be made tat he was more taltned than the other players (true) so he didn’t have to turn it on all the time but this is something that has been in his scouting report jacket since he came on the scene as 7th grader and it still hasn’t changed 4 years later. Not saying it won’t but it is something to keep a eye on

As far as Gordan outscoring Parker i know you have enough basketball knowledge to know you don’t rate Gordan over Parker because of that. I’m sure some who don’t have that IQ did rate him over Parker just like when someone scorers a lot in the McDonalds game some people get carried away ( McAdoo,Favors anyone)
