I know Tyus & Emmanuel are top 2 point guard of class 2014 so who’s better pro prospects in the future???

Tyus is a floor general, great visions, playmaker & team leader. I think he’s Chris Paul type point guard cause he played under control and smooth and good thing is he’s pass first point guard. He still alot room improve his game.

Emmanuel is the new breed of point guard like Rose, Westbrook, & Wall they are long, athletic, & quick. He’s very good first step just blown by defend, alot of bounce, good visions & good defend too (potential to be a stopper either guard position). The great thing he’s about between 6’4 or 6’5. Same thing to about Tyus he’s got alot room improve his game too.

If I had chose one the long run I have to say Emmanuel has alot upside he could be game changer on both end of the court and being 6’4 or 6’5 he could play either guard position.

of the MCW vs Trey Burke comparison. albeit a few years premature.

The strong calming floor general or athletic Hybrid guard.

Tyus is small, yes, but he is not a exception on the highest level, moreover he is a legit 6″1, so we should be more hesitant to classify only height or size without the talent. And boy is he talented, Tyus is a unbelievable shooter, ball handler and has Chris Paul-Steve Nash vision, and he is not a bad athlete at all. As for Mudiay, he cant shoot, his ballhandling is average and his floor vision is, well lets say it is not his strength. He is big for a point and very athletic, but to compare these two guys, I dont get it.

Jones is not an unbelievable shooter. He is improving and has solid mechanics but at this point his shot is a work in progress. The rest of his game is solid and you will know more about his game when he gets to college and has other quality players around him.

The difference to me is skills vs. athleticism. Jones is such a skilled player. I look at a lot of the box scores from the EYBL and he is incredibly efficient. Most of his games were in the area of 10-14 from the field with 20-27 points, with 7 assists and 4 steals with very few turnovers. Quite simply, he runs a team and there is no one in the high school game that does that any better than Jones. And let’s be honest, he is not on one of these AAU teams where they have 7 big time D1 recruits. Defenses key in on him and it doesn’t matter for the most part.

Mudiay is one of those guys that people like because of his combination of size, speed, athleticism. But I have seen him play a handful of times and checked out his boxscores as well. He is definitely not efficient. He is not a good shooter either and he tends to force bad jumpers. He has a lot of boxscores where he is 6-17 for 18 points (mostly off of free throws). Now I know that the NBA drafts off of potential and Mudiay does have all the physical tools that you look for, but the eye test right now tells me that he is just overpowering less physically gifted players. Every level he jumps up, that physical advantage he has decreases. I’m not saying that Mudiay couldn’t learn to shoot, but becoming a better decision maker is tough to improve. It is one of those things that you have or you don’t. I tend to think that if I need a leader and a pg, I take Jones in a heartbeat.

I dont know what You have seen of Tyus but I beg your pardon, he is an unbelievable shooter and this will a trademark in his career that his shooting will open up space to operate. He is shooting midrange or threes, creating for himself or assisted. Watch all the tapes from EYBL last year and this year and then tell me he is not an unbelievable shooter.

IMO, Tyus Jones is currently THE best player in HS. He doesn’t have the highest potential, but right now if I were to rank HS players he would be at the top. Mentally, skill-wise and in terms of intangibles, he is the most advanced player at that level. He has the skill to take whatever the defense gives him and more importantly has the recognition to see what the defense is giving him. He’s a rare HS point in that he’s as effective whether in the half or full court. There is no wasted movement in his game, he’s economical with his movement and he’s efficient. The only other PG I’ve seen in recent yrs make the game look this easy is Kyrie Irving.

Just look at the results for the EYBL season. He’s easily been the most statistically impressive player on the run up to the Peach Jam:

    23ppg (2nd in the league)/7ast (1st in the league)/2.7spg (1st in the league) on 57% from the floor/ 46% from 3, 88% from the line on 7 trips per game and a 2.5 A/T ratio.

Keep in mind that he’s not exactly playing with a loaded squad either with Reid Travis being the only other rated player on his team. He’s highly productive and efficient already, with efficiency for a guard being more of a pro trait.

Mudiay has more potential for sure, but he’s playing catch up right now. Tyus is so far ahead of him in terms of his understanding of the game and his position. Mudiay has all the physical tools but he really needs to slow down and work on his jump shot.

what you are saying then is that you value what players do in warm ups over game production?

He very clearly lays out his statistics from the EYBL, in which he is playing against the top talent in the U.S.

      57% from the floor/ 46% from 3, 88% from the line

He is a hair away from being in the rare 50/40/90 club. I would say that qualifies as being a good shooter.

When you say you saw him play, was it once or several times? Clearly you are basing your impressions off of either one bad outing or you are seeing something that the Dave Telep’s, Jeff Goodman’s, Jerry Meyer’s aren’t seeing. These guys rave about Tyus Jones. And they have watched him play dozens of times and get paid to evaluate talent.

I know Tyus Jones is good… not from a box score but from watching him in person. Box scores don’t tell nearly the story that witnessing in person does.

But when you are talking about someone being a good shooter, and you can reference field goal percentage from actual games, it is a very good indicator of, you know, how well they shoot. You can tell by shot attempts, turnovers, field goal percentage, how efficient a player is, and simply by looking at their box score.

What you see tells you a lot of things that statistics can’t measure.Things like, do they move well without the ball? What kind of a teammate are they? Will they accept coaching? Does he make good decisions? Can he handle the ball? Is he more of a slasher or shooter? Does he help on d? Is he intense? What is his motor like? But shooting? I’m not talking about his mechanics, I’m talking about his accuracy. if I look at a box score and in 5 games he is 3-5, 4-7, 4-6, 5-8, 2-3 from 3? That tells you that he is a good 3 point shooter. Now i’m not saying one box score, but over time if you look at them from every EYBL game from all 4 stops, patterns emerge.

Look I agree that we as basketball fans put too much emphasis on hoop mixtapes. But Jones isn’t the type of player that “pops” on a mixtape anyway. People don’t go to mixtapes for efficiency.

Just curious, how do you know that the poster has never seen him play?

Tyus Jones reminds me of Tony Parker and I think he’ll play like Parker when he gets to the league. Mudiay has the higher potential though, Rose seems like a decent comparison out of high school, though he’ll definitely have to refine his game but that comes with time and a lot of practice.

Hoopscop said Tyus Jones was a unblievable shooter… I saw him shoot in person. What I saw was a shooter that was working hard on his form but that it still needed a lot work.
If you go by just highschool percentages alone, and if you’ve never seen the youngman play you wouldn’t know that most of his made shots are from in close.

Jones is no different than the average high school kid and needs to work on his 10′-14′ range shot. If you had his shot charts from his game you’d notice what I’m saying… I guess you’d have to have been there otherwise.

“most of his made shots are from in close” – Isn’t he a point guard? Isn’t it a good thing when those guys can penetrate the lane?

“If you had his shot charts from his game you’d notice what I’m saying” – I do have his shot charts, like I said, from every EYBL game. If you look at a box score and someone is 10-14 from the field and 4-6 from 3, it is easy to tell that he is shooting the ball from outside.

46% from 3 and 55% from the floor during the Elite Youth Basketball League is good enough for me, sorry that it isn’t for you.

Your unabashed lack of confidence is shining… I’m sorry you were never an athlete. Maybe you should seek counseling to help get over feelings of self doubt. Say to yourself Siggy… I’m good enough, I’m smart enough and tomorrow is another day to try impress people with paralysis by over analysis.

Try as you may… you are still just a turd that never had any ability therefore no basis of which you speak..

That’s it? Even your comebacks are uninteresting because you lack the wit and verbiage to adequately defend yourself, which is why you have to make up sht in your head to talk down to other posters. Fact is, the only thing you know about me is what I post. Your posts are nothing but false bravado backed by nothing. If you didn’t have your bravado, you would have nothing to post because you are an uninteresting poster who can’t contribute anything else.

I only respond in kind. If you act like a douchebag, expect to be responded to like one.

And no, I don’t get mad over forums. I just don’t mince words.

      Fat little school eh?
Having a war of words with you is like trying to outwit a meat head. It’s too easy.
You’re dull and your facade can’t hide that.

Me? Bully? Are you serious? That’s all you are because that’s all you can do….poorly BTW.
Don’t try to pull cards if you can’t give what you receive chump.

If you didn’t try to address me I’d never respond to your posts, since you say a whole lot of nothing. Scratch that, you don’t even say a whole lot. You just say nothing with an arrogant tone. The only people who should respond to your posts are the people who you try to offend, which in this case would be me.
