I think we’ve already discussed Thompson’s draft status and the confusion why Aran posted that he has signed an agent, but I think it is now totally confirmed that Thomspon is still going to be a Longhorn.

Here’s a direct quote from his mother:

"I didn’t sign anything," she told Zagoria by phone from Canada. "We didn’t sign anything. I don’t know where this is coming from. We didn’t talk about anything yet…Tristan can’t sign. I’m his mom. Tristan is not old enough to sign. He just turned 20. I’m pretty sure you have to be 21."

    Everyone makes mistakes right?

that situation is too confusing these guys should watch what they say like Sullinger saying he vows to come back. He pretty much eliminated most of his options

There is something in one of her comments.."we haven’t talked about anything…yet"..Are they planning on talking about what he’s gonna do?..He already said he’s staying so what is there to talk about?..hmmmmmm

I think this is bad newsmaking.

First of all: WTF is Zagoria? Never heard of them. Secondly, I have never heard of any ruile which details that a player cannot sign with an agent until they are 21. I mean, I’m pretty sure as soon as you turn 18, you can sign with an agent.

Do not hesitate to tell me I’m way off base, but I just don’t think this source makes sense.

I agree mostly with til232. A rule that has your legal guardian sign off on being a pro because you’re too young at 20 years old? LOL.  I bet you they were just surprised that Aran published the signing before they were prepared to announce.  On Zagaria, last year he was a source where he gave the announcement scoops.  He actually seems to have a lot of contacts in the New York area.  Adam obviously has been in contact with the Tristan family in the past having being able to get in contact with both his AAU coach and family less than 24 hours after Aran published it.  He probably would have liked to have made the announcement himself.  Also to note they never deny he is going pro.  It just looks bad that 2 days after you say you are staying in school it comes that you signed with an agent.

    Here’s the source.

I think that Thompson’s mother doesn’t want people to know that her son signed an agent, so soon after promising to stay another year. This whole situation reeks of conspiracy.

You do need you’re guardian to sign off in order to sign a contract unless you are emancipated or the contract can be deemed null and void by either party
