Michigan to win this thing because of their backcourt. Burke makes the correct decisions often and finds his shooters. Top 10 pick. Could be rising into the top 5. This draft will depend on workouts as a lot of them do. First pick could go need instead of best option. Crap shoot draft.

An amazing talent! I’d love to see Phoenix draft him and trade Dragic.
Why not go young at PG since they’ll be rebuilding for some time
Trey and Kendall pushing one another for play time there would definitely be a show on the court

I did a mock in January and had him going 6th in this draft behind guys like McLemore, Zelller, Shabazz, Len, and 1 more that I can’t remember.
I have been high on him from the start because to me, he has it all. I don’t really see a hole in his game. People said he was short but he looks to be close to 6’2. Said he was slow but I don’t thing so. He can do it all and for over half the season now, he has fooled people into thinking that Mitch McGary is a first round pick this year. That should say it all.

      Then your point sucks. People aren’t being “fooled” by McGary’s play. McGary is a first round talent in this weak draft with or without Trey. If a weak ass beanpole like Isaiah Austin or an inefficient, unskilled, undersized PF like McAdoo is considered a first round talent then McGary would’ve at least garnered consideration, even in a different environment.
      His game isn’t completely dependent on being spoon fed the ball. He’d still be a high energy, physically strong wide body with good hands and feet, a tremendous rebounder on both ends of the floor, a crushing screen setter with soft touch around the rim.
      Physically, he was ready to compete at the college level and he had the energy and effort level that college coaches reward with minutes. Imagine if he went to a school like UNC, who was on his list of candidates before deciding on Michigan. Even with their iffy PG play, he’d still provide the toughness and physical presence that that team lacked. His rebounding and physicality alone would’ve gotten him 1st round attention. It’s not like McGary came out of nowhere either. He was once considered the #2 overall prospect in his class so he has been on scouts’ radars.

Lets not compare him to Chris Paul.
People can’t every tell the difference between succeeding at the college level, and having legitimate NBA skill. I do think Trey Burke has NBA skill, but he isn’t Chris Paul, at all. Paul’s top attribute is that he is a playmaker. Burke isn’t really a great playmaker at all. Burke is a scoring guard, who can fill it up, but he’s also had 2 horrendous halfs out of the 6 he’s played in this tourney. I know I’m probably gonna get negged because he had a good game and hit a huge shot so this is an unpopular opinion, but I really don’t think he is an NBA star. I think he is a solid, decent NBA player, and theres nothing wrong with that. but hitting big shots in the NCAA tournament has happened for plenty of guys before, it is playmaking skills and athletic ability that lead me to believe he isn’t a top tier guy at the next level.

  Great playmaker or good playmaker? Burke was top ten in assists all yr, on a top team, with the best A/T in the nation and top PPR (pure point rating…basically A/T on steroids, factoring in pace) among all the legit PG prospects. He was also one of the best, if not the best PnR PGs in the nation. If those attributes don’t at least amount to him being considered a good playmaker then I don’t know what does.
  As far as these 2 bad halves, what constitutes a bad half? His shot not falling? Because even when his shot hasn’t been falling he was breaking down the defense and getting his teammates shots.

He led the nation in A/TO ratio also had 7 assists. And that’s all without a top-tier Big Man for much of the season. Imagine him with a guy like Len or Noel. He IS a playmaker.

He will find success in the NBA, maybe not at a Superstar level that CP3 is at, but I do expect him to be an All-Star, just watching him play leads me to believe he has to be successful in the NBA, he really is that good.

He may not become the NBA star Chris Paul is, but he is very Chris Paul-esque in certain aspects of his game. His ability to keep his defender on his back coming off the pick-and-roll is very similar to Chris Paul. The way his handle allows him to keep his dribble alive and be patient with the ball is just like Chris Paul. Burke also has an understanding of the game that separates himself from other top college PGs, the way Paul’s basketball IQ helps him succeed in the NBA. Sure, Burke is not proven at an elite level and certainly isn’t the athlete Chris Paul was, but he is similar to Chris Paul in many ways. That doesn’t mean he will be as good as Chris Paul.

A scoring guard and not a playmaker?
I’m confused… Who in the hell have I been watching consistently break the defense down, run the P&R to perfection and create easy scoring opportunities for his teammates?
The negative comments I’ve read about this guy on this site leave me scratching my head. Like I almost feel like I’ve not been watching the same player.

He might not be a pure point guard,but he does a good job of managing a game…Unlike alot of other scoring point guards,that can disrupt the flow of an offense, by looking to get their own points..I wouldnt be surprised at all if he gets selected as high as 6 or 7…The Pistons,Kings and OKC might be interested in him…..

The Pistons better take a damn hard look at this guy. The only players I would even consider (not sure if I would) taking on the Pistons over him is McLemore or Smart.

  He’s closer to Lillard because unlike Kemba he can shoot the three consistently. If he can be like either of them, that would be impressive. I can also see some similarities to Jameer Nelson.
