The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThe Sixers have been rumored to have interest in Sf Rudy Gay and hope that a Deal involving Fringe All Star Sf Andre Iguadola and 6th Man Lou Williams can bring in a legitimate Scorer to Philadelphia…
Salaries match up, and the Grizzlies don’t take a step back at All…they add Iggys’ versitilty and defense and Lou can provide the spark on offense in the 2nd Unit(may also allow The Grizzlies to Trade Mayo for a backup PF…) The Grizzlies would remain deep and talented where it counts, in the post…
Grizzlies
Mike Conley-Lou Williams-Vasquez-Selby
OJ Mayo-Tony Allen-Xavier Henry
Andre Iguadola-Shane Battier-Sam Young
Zac Randolph-Darrel Arthur
Marc Gasol-Hamed Haddadi
They’d have Mayo/Henry or Selby to use use for trade bait/trade assest…
Gasol is their biggest off-season need…They proved that they could contend without Gay in the Lienup Last year, add Iggy and Lou Williams to that Team and they match up with anyone out West…If they trade one of their Wings for a an Impact F off the bench, they’d go from a Dark Horse title contender to a Full Fledge Team on the Verge…
The Sixers have proven they can compete in the East but need a # 1 option on Offense…Trading for Gay could provide an instant punch of Offense…
Amnesty Brand at some point between Now and next years Free Agent bonanza and The Sixers could become a Dark Horse entry in the Howard/Williams sweepstakes…Amnesty Brand this year and get a player like Tyson Chandler(who the Magic have not contacted about an extension)
Sixers
Jrue Holiday-vet Backup for the min.
Evan Turner-Jodi Meeks(being paid the Min.)
Rudy Gay-Thad Young(RFA, match any offer Phila)-Andreas Nocioni(6 million Team option)
Marresse Speights-Craig Brackins-Lavoy Allen-(2nd round $$$)
Tyson Chandler(FA signing using some of the Elton Brand Amnesty $$$)-Nikola Vucevic
I know the Sixers don’t sound great on paper but they could get a playoff spot or Lottery Pick depending on how they play together…I’d take Rudy Gay and Tyson Chandler and move forward…
Thoughts…

ProudGrandpaParticipantNo "Gay" Jokes.
Or the negs monster will get you.

bobbybParticipantthe grizz should have traded gay when they had the chance to cleveland, so they would have the money to extent marc gasol and oj mayo, and they would have gotten Valancuinas
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 9:32am #610787
The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThey would have actually taken a step back Drafting a player with that Much BUST potential(Thabeet anyone???)
The question is Would a Iguadola/Williams for Gay help both teams as they’re both constructed Now…let’s not get into a debate over the Grizzlies trading an All Star for unproven Euro that plays the same position as the 2 best players on the Team…
Iggy and Lou Williams for Rudy Gay…Does iT make sense for The Sixers and Grizzlies…

bobbybParticipantMONEYBALL you have to think deeper inside, it is about cap space dollars and cents. If you asked me without any other factors, of course i would take Gay over Valancuinas. But you must take into consideration a shrinking cap in the future
It is more important that you can exend the contracts of Marc Gasol, Z-bo, Oj mayo and even Tony Allen( see play-offs?)

bobbybParticipantwhat about conley jr? Didnt they just resign him?
They beat the NUMBER ONE SEED and came one game from going to the Western Conference Finals.
Why would you risk messing that up by making big changes

Lotto StudParticipantNoooo! not my boi Lou Will the most likeable Sixer, but hey 3 of my favs Lou, Juice, Selby on the same squad hmmmm.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 11:10am #610817
mamadouParticipantThey won’t take lou because they don’t need him sportily or financially.
But a mid first rounder in the next draft will make it in a blink….
Committed 68MD over 4 years on gay, iggy 44 MD over 3 years.
U re-sign easily gasol(1st or by matching any offer), u save 1,5MD differential salaries between gay and iggy, still room under the luxury taxe to bring somebody via MLE(battier).

M-DYMESParticipantWho on twitter released this "rumor"?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 11:18am #610823

Mr. 19134ParticipantThis trade most certainly helps both teams because each player is a better fit on the other team. The Griz dun need Gay coming back and taking the rest of the offense out of rhythm while Iggy on the Griz would flourish in the side kick role. Holiday, Turner, Gay and Thad give the Sixers a potent uptempo attack that can still score in the half court. Rudy and Thad would create match up nightmares with their length and athleticism at forward.

apb540ParticipantNot sure why the Grizz would want Lou too. Also not sure if there is a lick of truth to any of this rumor.

TRC1991Participant@scarecrow, there’s hardly any chance the grizz take back battier, but good post regardless

M-DYMESParticipantStill not seeing any source of this rumor so it leads me to question the validity of said rumor.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThey have made Gasol priority # 1…Rudy was missed in the playoffs but may cost to much for Grizzlies longterm…
Conley-Randolph and Gasol would take up much the cap, Rudy is signed a year longer than Iggy and two years longer than Williams…He also cost more per season…OJ Mayo and Xavier were drafted to provide perimeter offense, and both come at a cheaper price than Rudy Gay…saving money to keep Allen and Battier around for Mid Level money could mean taking a deal that saves them $$$ off the top…they’d get two very productive players for 1, save money and likely get a future pick(Sixers are keeping their 2012 draft pick)…the money saved off the top helps Resign Gasol, Battier and Tony Allen…Gay’s offense would be replaced by Mayo(which could in turn aid them in resigning Him…)
Memphis has to think like this
1. It Saves money in the short term/long term, which we can use on Gasol and the heart and soul guys Battier and Allen
2. We Get 2 productive players(1 is an All NBA Team USA defender/1 a Instant Offense type at with 2 years left on his contract)
3. We open up the opportunity for OJ Mayo to become a bigger part of the offense(thus resigning Him or using him as a great Trade Asset)
4. We Stay competitive in The West, can still defend the likes of Durant,Kobe,Wade and Lebron, and maybe we can add a draft pick in 2013…

natedogggParticipantits pretty lateral move, dont really see it happening.
i guess we’ll have to see what happens with Gasol

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipanthttp://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm
Lou and Iggy are on the market, Memphis wanting a scoring G last year ala Monta Ellis, Lou is Ellis lite and Iggy plays elite defense and can create for Teammates, those are intangibles Rudy can’t bring to the table in Memphis…
Many sites say Memphis’s main goal is signing Gasol,Battier and Allen…Gay doesn’t really need to be around to compete as they have 2 Bigmen in their primes playing at All Star Levels…Conley,Mayo,Iggy,Lou Williams,Battier and Toney All are a fine supporting cast…A young Sg like Henry could get the Team a Back up Power Foward to play a Paul Millsap/Antonio Mcdyce role…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 2:28pm #610874

apb540ParticipantIggy or Rudy Gay?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 4:10pm #610905

r377ParticipantMemphis should do this deal – then trade OJ Mayo to Utah for Paul Millsap (if the Millsap trade rumours are true)
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 4:46pm #610913
ghrghrParticipantWhy would memphis want millsap? they have Randolph.
Iguodala is not a great fit, his 3 pt shot isn’t great, even though he plays great D he wouldn’t be able to spread the floor for randolph and gasol. Lou williams would be a scorer off the bench, but memphis still has OJ mayo for that roll. The only reason would be to save money, but I still think Memphis should make a run with this team and see what happens.
I don’t see this trade improving the Grizzlies team. This team has to win now, randolph is the best player and he isn’t getting any younger.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 4:49pm #610914
aamir543ParticipantRemember guys, the Grizz were already clicking before Gay went out. THey were 9-2 in his last 11 games, adn had winning streaks of 5 and 4 in that span. He is the missing piece they didn’t have against OCk, and they should keep him.
That being said, the above mentioned deal is pretty good value, but it creates a slight logjam in the backcourt, but nontheless gives the Grizz a very deep roster. But still, I believe they should keep things the way they are and just sit back and watch.
