Rumors or actual trade news welcome

Pelicans have hold off on trading anyone, they are looking to see how the team goes with Zion. I like this idea, they have some decent pieces. Get some chemistry and see how you go next year.

Sixers looking at covington or bogdan and heard about D rose also

Dallas – Ian Mahinmi, Minnesota’s Gorgui Dieng and Golden State’s Willie Cauley-Stein and Cleveland’s Tristan Thompson are some of the trade options the team could pursue in the wake of Powell’s injury,

The Lakers and Kings reportedly discussed a deal involving Bogdanovic and Kyle Kuzma, but those talks didn’t go anywhere. Earlier today, Jon Johnson of WIP tweeted that Bogdanovic was one of two trade targets the Sixers are focusing on, along with Robert Covington.

Bogdan Bogdanovic has been considered a potential trade target for contenders this winter, but the Kings are unlikely to move the third-year swingman

I don’t mind the Dieng to Mavs talk. Ive always liked Dieng, not sure why he has not got more minutes ?

I think maybe dallas do it for a lotto protected first rounder and minn take back courtney lee’s contract. Dieng would be under contract this season adn next season, earning about $17 mill

The Hawks trade offer for Andre Drummond was built around Chandler Parsons expiring contract. Since he got into an accident the trade talks are essentially dead as it would be impossible to match contracts without trading assets.

OhCanada, why would that affect the trade talks? Surely the Pistons didn’t expect Parsons to play more than a few meaningless minutes here and there.

To match salaries. It doesnt work without Parsons. “EDIT” I looked into it a bit and yeah it looks like it does work if they trade Teague and Turner. Detroit would be slightly above the luxary tax but they could make another move to keep them under it.

Dallas should try to get Bobby portis he would be a good fit for them as a quick fix replacement for Powell. It would be interesting to see Portis play on a winning team.

Multiple playoff teams have expressed interest in Danilo Gallinari, who hears from league sources that the Mavericks and Sixers are two clubs who have made inquiries on the Thunder forward.

The Mavericks have made offers to the Timberwolves for Robert Covington, but have been turned down

On the trade front: some in the Knicks organization see Charlotte’s Malik Monk as a trade target worth pursuing

Clippers could make an offer on Aaron Baynes, as could a few other teams

The Mavs have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Andre Drummond.

Drummond is expected to decline his player option this summer in order to become an unrestricted free agent, and there’s a very real chance he’d leave Detroit at a free agent, so it would be wise for the Pistons to try and get something for him now. It’s unclear at this point what Dallas could offer, but they may be more eager to come to terms on a deal after losing Dwight Powell (Achilles) for the rest of the season. Kristaps Porzingis prefers to play PF, so Drummond could be a nice fit in Dallas as their third star. To be clear, nothing is imminent at the moment.

Mavs are apparently shopping all of their vets, I dont think it makes sense for OKC to shop Adams right now. Next year he will be a coveted expiring contract which may have even more trade value and this year Nerlens Noel’s contract is expiring and he has played very well for OKC as a backup Center.

If they give Noel starter minutes it could drive up his value in contract negotiations. It maybe in their best interest too wait until next year to trade Adams and try to save money on a Noel resigning, no doubt Noel will try to get a longterm deal with OKC because he has had a bumpy career as far as injuries, roles and contract negotiations go. Remember when he passed up a 4-yr $70 million contract with the Mavs. Ouch.

I think the Clippers try trade for a big and a wing. I think they need a PG too. Guys to move include Montrezl Harrell, Jerome Robinson, Jamychal Green, maybe Zubac or Shamet. Trez may fit on the Mavs as the 5 next to KP but I’m not sure who they could send back. Maybe Brunson, Finney – Smith. Knicks have power forwards if anyone needs. Cavs certainly have to make moves. Sexton is the new Dion Waiters. Maybe they can reverse the trade and send Love back to Minny for Wiggins? Okogie needs to start. Horford could really put someone over the top but 109 mil is a big number to swallow. The Sixers could use him to get shooters though. Maybe they can trade him to San Antonio for some of that overloaded backcourt? It’d be good for both teams. Miami needs one piece to make a run too. They are a little like the 04 Pistons before Sheed came in at the deadline. Hopefully it’s an interesting Feb 6.

If the Sixers want Ben to play like this all the time, they should just stagger his minutes and give him more time with Horford in the second unit. That lineup they ran out today killed the Lakers. Embiid is a franchise player and hasn’t scratched the surface, but what if you got some talented depth back in a trade? How about Jrue, Redick, NAW and Hayes? Would probably still get a first as well.
    Simmons Holiday Redick Harris Horford
    NAW Korkmaz Thybulle Hayes
Pelicans then have Lonzo, Hart, Ingram, Zion, Embiid.
I actually think the Sixers get better here, now and moving forward. Sometimes the style of play and the right fit just works better. The Pelicans would be monsters though..

Embiid is too good for scraps. No way Sixers except the third best player from any team in exchange for Embiid. Draft picks do nothing for the team either as they are far to uncertain of a commodity. If the Pelicans want to pair Zion with Embiid the trade starts with Ingram and probably includes Jrue.

The Timberwolves “dangled” an Andrew Wiggins for D’Angelo Russell trade with the Warriors, according to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater.

Wiggins has one of the worst contracts in the NBA, with three years and $94 million remaining after this season. This, for a league average player at best. Russell just signed a four-year, $117 million contract this past offseason.

Their salaries are similar, but as it stands now, an upfront, player-for-player trade would not work under the cap. The Warriors would have to give up another player—one of their young assets—and, considering how much more valuable Russell is than Wiggins, this ‘dangling’ was clearly a non-starter for Golden State, no matter how many draft picks the Wolves may or may not have “dangled.”

Regardless, it’s “the league’s worst-kept secret” that the Wolves are aggressively pursuing Russell in an attempt to keep Karl-Anthony Towns happy, according to The Athletic. Towns can pressure the Wolves into trading him at any point, and that power has the Wolves desperate to make a move to appease him. The Wolves’ inability to build around the All-NBA player this season and in previous seasons has been palpable. Trading for Russell, Towns’s good friend, would help ease that broiling tension.

Recall when the Wolves traded away Jimmy Butler midseason in 2018 in part for the same reason—to appease Towns.

Here are some other rumors from around the league:

    • The Kings offered Nemanja Bjelica and a draft pick to the Lakers for Kyle Kuzma. The Lakers countered by asking for Bogdan Bogdanovic and a draft pick. (Kevin O’Connor, The Ringer)

    • The Pistons are asking for a lottery-level first-round pick in exchange for Derrick Rose. (Shams Charania, The Athletic)

    • The most coveted target this trade deadline is Jrue Holiday. Holiday has made it decidedly clear that he wants to stay in New Orleans, but the Pelicans are still fielding offers on the veteran point guard. The Nuggets and Heat are among the teams interested, but the asking price is high. (Shams Charania, The Athletic)

    • The Hawks are among the teams interested in Rockets center Clint Capela, but he’s unlikely to be traded unless a godfather offer emerges. (Shams Charania, The Athletic)

    • The 76ers have had discussions about trading for Rose, Robert Covington and Davis Bertans. (Anthony Slater, The Athletic)

    • Several teams are monitoring the Hawks’ John Collins and feeling out Atlanta’s asking price. (Shams Charania, The Athletic)

    • The Clippers have started a dialogue with the Knicks about Marcus Morris. (Ian Begley, SNY)

    • Trade buzz surrounding the Wizards’ Bradley Beal has been steadily increasing in the last few weeks. (Anthony Slater, The Athletic)

According to Shams Charania of the Athletic, the talks between the Hawks, Wolves and Rockets regarding Robert Covington and Clint Capela have intensified.

It sounds like the general framework of the deal is Robert Covington to Houston, Clint Capela to the Hawks and draft picks plus a salary filler like Evan Turner to the Wolves. It’s been widely reported that the Wolves will try to use the picks they acquire from Covington to land D’Angelo Russell from Golden State, but the Warriors are playing hard to get right now.

According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks and Denver Nuggets have agreed on a four-team trade involving 12 players and multiple first-round picks. Here is a quick breakdown of how the deal would work, and which team would acquire which players and picks.
    Atlanta Hawks:

    In: Clint Capela, Nene

Out: Evan Turner, first-round pick via Brooklyn
    Denver Nuggets

In: Gerald Green, Keita Bates-Diop, Shabazz Napier, Noah Vonleh, first-round pick from Houston

Out: Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Jarred Vanderbilt
    Houston Rockets:

In: Robert Covington, Jordan Bell, second-round pick (not clear via which team)

Out: Nene, Gerald Green, Clint Capela, first-round pick
    Minnesota Timberwolves:

In: Evan Turner, Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Jarred Vanderbilt, first-round pick from Atlanta, via Brooklyn

Out: Robert Covington, Keita Bates-Diop, Jordan Bell, Shabazz Napier, Noah Vonleh

There is obviously a lot going on here, but at first glance, it appears to make sense for all parties involved. It’s no secret that the Rockets have been desperate to acquire a big, defensive-minded wing, and Covington fits that bill. He can guard multiple positions, and is a solid-enough 3-point shooter — 34.6 percent on 6.5 attempts per game — that he won’t crater the spacing that’s so vital for James Harden and Russell Westbrook to operate.

As for the Timberwolves, they’d take on Turner to make the money work, and while his veteran leadership would be a nice addition to the locker room for the rest of the season, he’s a free agent in the summer. His expiring deal would give them more cap space and flexibility moving into the offseason, and whatever draft assets they acquire would help continue their rebuild.

Finally, the Hawks would get to add a perfect rim-running big man to play with Trae Young. We’ve already seen the kind of damage Capela can do partnering with James Harden, and the Hawks run a similar offensive system in which Young dominates the ball and attracts attention with his 3s and drives into the lane. Capela would become an instant lob target, and would help improve their defense on the other end.

Finally, for the Nuggets, they have a backlog in their rotation and just aren’t able to get everyone minutes when healthy. Both Beasley and Hernangomez are restricted free agents, and they probably weren’t going to be able to pay them in the summer, so they flipped them for a veteran shooter for the playoff run and a first-round pick.

Hawks getting Capela who is under contract for 3 more years on a reasonable deal is a great move by them. Him and Collins as the frontcourt going forward looks good. Young, Huerter, Hunter and Reddish adds to a nice young core. Throw in this years’ top 10 pick and the young core is nicely filled out. They will likely add a good veteran or two in the summer if they have roster spaces.

I would keep an eye on Buddy Hield if I were them. His situation in Sacramento has been more than volatile. Luke walton has been bringing him off the bench, hes expressed how he was unhappy with the team and his role even before that and they have been leaning pretty heavily on Bogdanovic as of late. Bogdanovic is gonna ask for big money in the offseason so keeping both may not be something they are interested. If they can make a deal for him without trading Hunter, Collins, Young or Capela then i would do it. I would even consider trading this years pick but would try not to, Edwards would be a better option, not too sure about Ball on this team.

Minnesota gets D’Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans, and Omari Spellman
Golden State gets Andrew Wiggins, 2021 (Top 3 protected) 1st rounder, 2022 2nd rounder

I thought Russell would get a little more. The Wiggins contract is awful, and a guy who has done little without the ball throughout his career is going to a team that will have Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green next year. If he didn’t like Jimmy Butler laying into him, he better be ready for Draymond Green doing so even louder.

    Still in motion
Memphis gets Justise Winslow, Dion Waiters, and James Johnson
Miami gets Andre Iguodala, Jae Crowder, and Solomon Hill

What does Pat Riley have on Memphis? They sent three long-term contracts of guys they didn’t want for a pair of guys who will contribute and fit their team as well as Solomon Hill’s expiring contract. The Grizzlies must really like Winslow, but he has been hurt all year. Were they afraid of wasting their cap space on a bad long-term deal next summer?

I think Golden State got an absolute steal here. Russell was to ball dominant for Golden States motion offense. It just wasnt working hes clearly a chucker/iso heavy guard and you could tell from the time he spent playing with Curry and Green it just wasnt going to work and his compete level on the defensive end just wasnt high enough for them ever to contend with him playing 32 minutes per game. With Wiggins worst case scenerio they try to turn him into Harrrison Barnes offensively, he gets a fresh start and finally can play on a team that intends to win. Should be interesting to see how that goes. I dont see the Timberwolves making the playoffs next year either so they will probably get a lottery pick out of it as well.

I think the Grizzlies really dropped the ball here. I thought Crowder was a big part of them turning the season around. Winslow could end up breaking out. I’ve been watching alot of Grizzlies games recently and a few of them I really doubt they wouldve won without having Crowder there to turn the tables. He would do alot of stuff to frustrate players, get them into foul trouble, make big baskets at crucial times and then all of a sudden Grizzlies go on a huge run and the games out of reach. I wonder if there was a problem in the locker room. Winslow has big shoes to fill.

Is Faried unsigned? Maybe they go that route again. They might as get Caboclo to play C. Gonna be honest I’ve watched a few of the games Houston played with no C and PJ Tucker did an absolutely great job for them. The whole team seems more engaged when they know that disadvantage is there so maybe they just decided to go with no C and see how it plays out idk. They really shouldve got more than Covington for Capela though.

More on Towns…Check this out. Towns lost the last 17 games he played. He was injured for 15 games inbetween that stretch and the Wolves went 5-10. That pick the Warriors got has a really good chance of being high.

Russell was always going to end up being moved, but he is more valuable than taking on that Wiggins contract. Harrison Barnes has a much better reputation with coaches than fans for a reason. He is a good, versatile defender whose interest in the game doesn’t sway if he gets 5 shots as opposed to 15. That isn’t Wiggins. He will probably enjoy this depleted team more than when Golden State has its full roster back, and those players are frightening when on big contracts.

Igoudala wouldve been a great fit in Memphis. They are 13-4 in 2020 with wins against the Clippers, Nuggets, Rockets and Mavs. I get he wants to win it all but I feel like Memphis isnt much worse than Miami right now, or any team for that matter.
