RUDEBOY_ParticipantDoes that eliminate Chicago,Miami & New York none of those teams have players to send back?
Unless they involve another team in the deal for Bosh…..
Dont be surprised if Dallas join the hunt for Bosh, after they cut or deal Dampier who has a non-guaranted contract for 13 million…0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 2:57pm #343365

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIf Chris Bosh does want a S&T, Miami is gone.
Chicago I believe would have to give up Deng and Gibson for him.

NashyMingParticipantTeams like Miami, New York where there are almost no players on the roster can still do Sign and Trade with Toronto. Instead of getting players, Toronto can get trade exceptions because these two teams are under cap and can absorb Bosh’s new deal without taking back salary.
Example, if Chris Bosh is S&T to Miami with its current roster, the Raptors would sign him the max money (17mil for the 1st season, 6 year contract) and trade him to Miami for a trade exception worth 17 million dollar. The trade exception can then be used by the Raptors in other trades.
Obviously, I think the Raptors would ask for more than just the TE (maybe picks, or Beasley, etc).

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI dunno about NY because we could throw Chandler and Lee to him.
The Heat is dead. To do that, I would have to imagine Beasley, Chalmers and a 1st rounder.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 3:12pm #343374

NashyMingParticipantThe reason why Lee can be included is that he can be S&T from New York. Same thing can be done for Miami where they can theortically S&T J O’Neal to Toronto.
The ball is still on Bosh’s court. He would decide where he wants to go. The only thing that Raptors can do is to try to get as much back from the deal as possible. Bosh seems to be willing to work with BC on it, however, he wouldn’t go to a new team and figure the new team would have to trade away other important assets back to Toronto. As someone point out earlier that the Raptors may not be able to get much out of the deal.
The best case scenario for the Raptors would be if Bosh provides a big list of destinations for the Raptors to try to work out something with the teams on his list. That way, BC would be able to shop for a better deal. If Bosh provides a very short list or only a specific team, then the options would be very limited.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantYea we can, we can add Lee to the deal, the issue with that is we’d have one max contract to use if we resigned him after it.
By using his rights in a S&T, we’d still be able to get a Joe Johnson/ LBJ guy

llperezi think it comes down to bosh deciding where to go. Yeah he can get more money from a sign and trade, but not enough to make him decide to pass up his team of choice. Bosh will pick his team, and then that team and toronto will discuss a sign and trade(of course tornton would be open to this, duh). But with all the teams that have opened up cap space, dont think the s&t is in toronto’s hands like they hold the chips or something. If they play hardball, they will lose him for nothing.

JJeff6ParticipantI can see him going to Houston. I read an article a couple months ago suggesting that idea on foxsports.com

White ChocolateParticipantThis is kind of a far fetched idea, but what the heck I will throw it out there:
Raptors sign Chris Bosh to a 5-year $85 million dollar deal and then trade him to the Jazz for Andrei Kirilenko and the Memphis Grizzlies future 1st round pick.
What do you guys think? Raptors get a future lottery/mid 1st round draft pick and Andrei Kirilenko’s huge expiring contract. The Jazz let Boozer go and they get a future running mate to go with D-Will and also Bosh has said that he wants to play with one of his Olympic Teammates thats where Deron Williams comes in. Win-win deal for both teams.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantso…he’d go there before NY Minus Lebron and Wade….If they all said NY’s the spot…then of course Ny gets the nod….

OhCanada-ParticipantIMO Bosh will go to Miami or Chicago regardless.
Im sure many teams would be happy with the trade exception and thats where a 3 way deal comes in handy. To elaborate more on the trade exception it could work out something like this.
MIAMI RECIEVES BOSHTORONTO RECIEVES
15 Million Dollar Trade Exception
Beasley
Draft PicksToronto then uses the TE
TORONTO RECIEVES
IgoudalaPHILLY RECEIVES
15 Million Dollar Exception0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 3:43pm #343385

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI never said he’d go to Utah on this post…

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantI would maybe take Alabi and Derozen and some of that sweat trade exception…Let you have at one of our young guns…Maybe Hawes or M16 if you’d like…Bargs/Davis and M16 or Hawes…with Iggy…all you lose is Demar and Alabi….you’d get Iggy and Hawes and maybe picks from the third team…

This is a link to the audio replay from the Fan 590 here in Toronto. Since many people are arguing over how much say the Raptors organization has in the sign and trade as well as questions to what Bryan Colangelo has in mind for any situation that may be faced come July 1st.
As of right now, nobody including the Top Tier free agents know what they will do, since its not allowed for teams to contact players nor can the players agents contact or discuss anything.
I hope that some of you if you listen to the entire conversation, and are able to clear a few of your own questions regarding the Bosh/Raptors situation.

ZeroParticipantIf a S&T does happen with Chicago, the Raptors will most likely get Deng and/or Johnson.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 5:13pm #343448

NashyMingParticipantBosh would definitely do a S&T, it’s 30 million and 1 more year on the table.
Whichever team Bosh decides to go, I have a hard time thinking he would give up 30 million dollar and left Raptors with nothing (not even a TE).
So far, Bosh has already mentioned he would work with BC on this, so it would be a S&T, just not sure if the Raptors are getting much back. In the case with Chicago, I would not take on Deng’s ugly contract on any S&T deal. If BC is willing to take on Deng’s contract, it would be a huge mistake. I would rather have a TE.
