steviechillzParticipantWhat are your Top 5 Inactive Three Point Shooters of all-time? Steph Curry and Klay are probably one, and two all-time; but since their careers aren’t over, for the sake of this topic, list your top 5 three point shooters of all-time.
1) Ray Allen(unorthodox form, but so pretty to watch it go in; especially during those Celtics years)
2) Reggie Miller
3) Peja Stojakovic(Back to Back three-point shootout champ and was a legit 6’9-6’10)
4) Dale Ellis(career 40%+ in 17 seasons)
5) Steve Nash
Just missed the cut(Bird, Rashard Lewis, Brent Barry)
*Also, side note, somehow Jason Kidd(the Cal guy who couldn’t shoot at all), made 1,988 career triples. WOW. This guy was all-time great…its kind of comparable to if Rajon Rondo ever found a way to hit the three when open consistently. Just a fun fact

Hype MachineSolid List…
A dude called Oscar Scmidt would top this list if he played NBA. Drazen Petrovic also if he didnt die young.

steviechillzParticipantNever heard of him and just looked him up…30 year career! Plus 49,737 career points scored…well damn

Hype MachineOscar Schmidt was so good that he would have probably been in the conversation with Magic and Bird as the best players in the 80s.
He didnt pass or play defense but his scoring averages are ridiculous…and they were all 40 minute games.
If he played on a Doug Moe Denver team, he would have averaged 42ppg at least. Otherwise, probably 32ppg.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI mean Jason Kidd is top 15 all time games played, if every guard played that long there’d be a lot more guys with 1900 3’s made.. and starting in 2003-2004, he took more 3’s then 2’s every season. Not too surprising that he’s up there in career makes.
His percentages dropped off towards the end of his career but Nick Anderson was deadly from deep during his time in Orlando, as was Dennis Scott- though I imagine playing next to Shaq probably does help your percentages a little bit.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantSteve Kerr, mark price, and Dell curry should all be honorable mentions if not in the top 5.

MJBrownParticipantTotally agree. Along with Craig Hodges and Steph Curry, these are the 5 best shooters I’ve ever seen. Steve Nash right on the fringe

32tn32ParticipantDon’t know y u got neg. Glenn rice played great for every team he played for.he played well as a star. And even when traded to the lakers. He was still able to hit clutch 3s when the lakers were down
I like mention Mitch Richmond and Steve smith

airenn34ParticipantJason Kapono was a guy who could have been on this list if he extended his career. They guy was awesome at UCLA and he was a marksman in the league having won back to back 3 point contest. He was great helping the Heat win the championship. He was so unathletic though and fizzled out.

Make’Em Say UGHParticipantSo glad you mentioned Peja, he doesn’t get nearly the credit he deserves. I used to love watching him during those King years. Very high awkward form, but deadly from behind the arc! Actually, I’ve been wondering why Chris Webber hasn’t brought his old teammate up during these WCF. Seeing all these great shooting performances from Klay and Steph would make you think he would remind people of Peja.
*side note: during the 03-04 season (with Chris Webber injured) Peja played so well to start the season off he was considered to be in the MVP running. Alot of people forget this. He was shooting lights out! Alot of games that year he started off with 20+ points in the opening quarter.

mamadouParticipantSteve Nash on the fringe, LOL.
Smallest, most inathletic by far, not a catch and shooter either.
14 seasons over 40% from deep, best FT shooter ever…
He was holding by himself half of the 50-40-90 seasons in the history of the game…while being 3rd best passer of all time.
9th all time in 3pts %, a lot of scrubs, role players, catch and shooters with small sample size in front him…

HitsterParticipantRay Allen, Miller, Nash and Kerr are certainly very high on my list. The late great Drazen Petrovic had one of the best 3pt percentages ever and would probably have been known as one of the elite shooters if he hadn’t been killed so young.
B,J Armstrong also had a very high career 3pt success average and contributed usefully to MJ/Pippen era Bulls.
Chauncey Billups was also an excellent 3 point scorer across his long and successful NBA career.

MattP31ParticipantMy problem is the list is too recent. Lots of guys from the 80s and 90s could hit the 3 too but they didn’t take nearly as many shots. I saw Craig Hodges name and he certainly belongs. Terry Porter, Mark Price, Glen Rice, Steve Kerr, John Paxson, Danny Ainge, Tim Legler

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantAllan Houston is another player no one mentioned yet who had one of the absolute sweetest shooting strokes I’ve ever seen. He was kind of more of a mid-range guy but he could hit three’s with the best of them as well. Don’t know if I’d put him in the top 5 but I think he at least deserves a mention. Good all-around player as well.

2. Steve Nash

5. Larry Bird
I think clutchness matters. And we have to remember that 3pt volumes were way down a long while ago. I am sure that Larry would shoot a lot more threes in the modern NBA.
