Simmons is the best prospect, anyone think the Lakers will send pick 2 and other assets to the 76ers for him?

Simmons for Ingram, a future first and removal of protection on the pick sent via the Suns, too much or not enough.

Simmons for Ingram, and Okafor and Russell get added to it, plus something else to the 76ers.

Or Lakers know Ingram might be the better fit for 76ers, they don’t deal and dare the 76ers to not pick Simmons.

Simmons, and his people, want the Lakers.  Ingram is an east coast person.

While not at the very top, as in 1 for 2, there has been Webber for Hardaway, the Jamison and Carter trade, Mihm for J Crawford.  It could happen.

Simmons is a modern day Magic Johnson……. Free Agents are going to Want to play w/ this kid…….. b/c he’s a next level ball distributor………

Phila is gonna have Ben Simmons w/ Joel Embiid & Jahlil Okafor w/ a 8 – 1st round picks over the next 3 drafts….. They can load up on shooters……..

But OMG that Front Court – w/ Noel & Saric too – is going to Terrorize the Eastern Conference in 3 years……..

Happy for Sixers fans…. You are some of the most Loyal fans I have Ever seen……..

If the Lakers take the protection off the 2017 pick then their 2019 pick is gone too. My price would be 2, Russell and take protection off 2017 for 1. Lakers won’t do it though and I don’t blame them.

Lakers will be mighty relieved to have kept the pick and even more so to get one of the big two. I don’t see any deal going down here. Interestingly another major draft site has Ingram at 1, so it will be interesting to see what workouts show.

If Boston wanted to move up to 1 or 2, I wonder what the price would be?

Another unlucky lottery for Celtics.  Great job by ainge thru the years to maneuver to get opportunity to get #1 pick.  Anyway, Celtics got screwed!  This draft is clearly about summon and Ingram.  Big drop off right after that.  Philly will trade okafor, but they will ask for a ton.  Celtics would have to send all their 1st rounds this year and most likely crowder, terry rozier for him.

You’re joking right?  There’s no way I’d give up 3, 16, 23, Crowder and Rozier for Okafor.

Then you won’t get Okafor. He still has some star potential left which is more than can probably be said for the 3rd pick this year or anyone on your team

Iam not saying I would, but u know sixers will be asking for that.  And I think ainge is desperate for a big man with star potential like okafor.  Hey remember, last year he offered four #1 picks to try to get Winslow at #9.

I think Simmons and Rich paul force the sixers hand and tell them they want Lakers, at the end of the day Simmons is not magic johnson. I think sixers if they are going to select him trade him to the lakers for more, I would be happy with Ingram any ways i honestly think Ingram is going to be a better pro than Simmons. I think the Celtics will probably trade their 3rd pick now knowing that a lot of teams will be interested in trading up for the 3rd pick.

So if I can legit trade him to LA and get back Jordan Clarkson I have to take this offer, Right???

Now, I’m glad irrational people like me aren’t GM’s even though I feel like I some good ideas thrown in with the insane…

At this point I just have to trust my gut and go with Ben Simmons over Brandon Ingram on draft, if I see that special something in Ingram’s workouts I may think your OG offer…Ingram and Clarkson seems like a fair price for Simmons IF the gap isn’t a fair as some Scouts say it is between 1 and 2…

If Simmons has worked on his shot even a little it’s going to be dammed near impossible to think Trade…

Absolutely no way Lakers make that trade. Simmons and ingram are neck and neck for top prospect in this draft. Lakers will gladly take whichever one falls to them. If they really want Simmons that bad and he refuses to play for sixers than it will be a straight up Simmons-ingram trade with no other assets going the sixers way. Lakers will have all the negotiating power in that situation. I would actually prefer they keep ingram, as I feel he is a much better fit with the young talent they currently have and I believe his long-term potential is just as good if not better than Simmons anyway.

If the Lakers  wanted okafor they would have drafted him when they had the chance last year. And a front line of simmons-randle-okafor would be a terrible fit and offer little floor spacing or rim protection.

while i feel like simmons is the better prospect, purely from a fit perspective, ingram makes more sense for the lakers. right now the lakers only sf under contract is anthony brown. We need a sf. Pf is probably our deepest spot with julius randle, larry nancce and brandon bass although he isnt long term. Unless ben works non stop on his jumper, i dont see him playing sf and i would really rather not deal randle away who im high on.

Its actually an easy spot to be in for lakers, just pick who is left between the two. Unless one of them blows you away in workouts, i dont see the need to give up additional pieces. Plus for those saying throw in clarkson, he is a free agent. He would have to agree to a sign and trade and im not sure he is itching to leave for philidelphia.

You can’t just refuse to play for the team with the top pick because LA is "cooler". He isn’t John Elway who said he was going to go play for the Yankees instead of playing football. He doesn’t have any other options.

He chose to play at LSU and that backfired so he is probably better off going where he doesn’t want to go. His reputation is already somewhat tarnished from his attitude at LSU so trying to pull something like refusing to play for a team would only hurt him more in the eye of the public and the league.

It’s not like it never happened before. Steve Francis was the 3rd overall pick and picked by the Vancouver Griz back then. He said before the draft he doesn’t want to play for them and they still took him. He refused to sign that contract and the team needed to find a trade.

If on the other hand Simmons is really going to consider this, I would have a hard time rooting for this kid since even with all the talent in the world, he doesn’t seem to be the easiest guy to handle.

Steve Francis voiced his displeasure about being drafted by Vancouver but I never heard that he didn’t sign his contract? From my understanding he was doing a lot of complaining but ultimately he was going to play for them until the "airport incident"…He was then traded to Houston so we don’t really know how it would have turned out…gun to his head I would assume he would have played for the Grizz.

Also Steve Francis was a super talented guy that never won a playoff series and was out of the league by the time he was 30 so this actually kind of speaks to my point more than anything.

The only player I know of to flat out refuse to play for the team that drafted him was Danny Ferry avoiding the Clippers to play in Italy. However with the way the rules are now the Sixers would have Simmons rights for his rookie contract and beyond so playing overseas wouldn’t really benefit him in the least bit.

I think this whole thing is overblown being that Brett Brown coached Ben’s dad and the Sixers roster is set up for future success. I recall last year people were saying that Okafor didn’t want to come to Philly but he seemed more than fine as a Sixer…so I expect the same from Simmons.

I believe that neither Philly nor Simmons want it to get to the stage where it becomes public knowledge that he doesn’t want to play for them. It looks bad for both sides. Philly already has a reputation as a team that no-one wants to play for….and the more it happens, the more perception becomes reality.

Disgruntled players rarely play up to their ability. It’s better for everyone if Philly just takes Ingram #1.

If Simmons made a powerplay then it would be risky if you were trying to take on Jerry Colangelo and co. Plus Philly is a big market team too potentially.

I’d almost hope that if it did happen then Philly draft him and refuse ton sign him for a bit leaving him in limbo, demand a big price from the Lakers – 2nd plus Russell or Clarkson or even trade pick for a good package to another team so that Simmons doesn’t end up in LA.

We in the 215 will have the Philly Phanatic assault Simmons in the cloak of darkness leaving a Tastycake and Soft Pretzel behind to let him know what he did…

In all reality, If Simmons really wants to play in LA all he has to due is show up to the Private workout Late/Out of Shape and shoot the ball as abysmally as he did at LSU, that’ll make Philadelphia think twice about taking him #1 overall, what with a better fit in Ingram waiting in the Green Room and all…

I was trying to compare this situation to Jabari Parker wanting to play in Milwaukee rather than cleveland because of the proximity to his hometown and to be closer to his family. Hes most likely going to Philly, but with Rich Paul as an agent pushing towards a bigger market is definetly of interest, especially with a shoe deal looming.
